I was just listening to my friend talk about the internship process this year, and it made me think about this site. I didn't come here much, but I knew it'd be a hub of activity right now. I applied and matched at my #1 choice last year, so I just wanted to say good luck to everyone.
Thank you!!
Hey Isitover - did that partial email look like en masse? I'm still waiting to hear from them....kinda bummed by your take from last year. The brochure makes it sound like a great experience. Just goes to show; you can never tell, I guess.
Ya, it looked pretty standard so maybe you have a shot! When those joke Q&As went around I laughed at the one about sites misrepresenting themselves in their brochures b/c that was def true of Hudson, at least the site I applied for
What a horrible day... rejection from my top choice (already mentioned on the thread), and, worse, my boyfriend's grandfather just died...
Dude, I'm sorry.
🙁
Can't believe I only saw this NOW! Hahaha, awesome!
I was ABOUT to tell you we were breaking up if I didn't hear back!
😉
Someone said that it is through the essays that we can be distinguished from each other. If that's true then I don't have a chance because my essays were absolutely awful. I have never struggled so much to write so little and so poorly. I cannot write knowing that every word I put down will be excruciatingly studied and then changed.
Hopefully this advice will be unnecessary, but if for any reason you do have to do this all again, I would recommend you just write from the heart, and if having your stuff critiqued makes it harder than don't have that many people review it. Last yr I had my mom and a friend read mine (and I did get interviews, just not placed). This year just my mom. I don't need 3 diff supervisors/faculty telling me what THEY think it should say/sound like - they aren't the ones sites are going to selecting!
I believe that things could still be worse and "what does not kill me will only make me stronger." I believe that this is a good attitude to have in stressful times like this.
👍👍👍👍 But sorry on all the other stuff...
😎
The last one I'm waiting on. Has anyone heard either way??? I thought they were going to email applicants on the 9th according to their brochure.
If it's after their notification day, call them. That it totally allowed and encouraged (you never know, your invite may have gotten lost in the mail!).
Hmmm, that is odd, I just interviewed at Baylor last week and there was no mention of changes to the neuropsych track (I was applying for a different track). I am sorry to hear that, especially since I think Baylor would have been a great fit for you given that you are also research oriented.
Dude, I HOPE your track is still in the running! To spend that time/money/stress to interview and have the site not be an option would SUCK.
This sounds like the same issue we are having with WVU Health Sciences-Charleston.
Just FYI, I am also waiting to hear back from them. They said that after you submit a request, the training committee reviews your app to see if you're a good fit (so you don't waste time/money going down if they wouldn't rank you). Fingers crossed!
Hudson Valley VA is technically not notifying until 12/31, but I know people have gotten interviews which makes me feel like 1- I'm getting a rejection, and 2- they really should be notifying today.
I cannot believe how slow the last 2 days have been given today is the deadline. Please, just make this process officially END!
Remember: rolling invites! It could still be coming, esp if they have that much time b4 their deadline!
Hmmmm. Looking at the number of sites people have yet to hear from (at least for sites with due dates on or before today), I say next year APPIC makes some changes. For every late notification...either we get a chunk of the $300 we pay for APPIC back, or we get refunded for that site's application cost. I mean if we submit our app's late, odds are we're screwed. But if they notify us late, they're still in the driver's seat and we're just waiting even longer.
Make that more like $500-$600! And, right?! They should be held accountable just as we are. I feel like a lot of sites are going to be notifying late, but they should at least be sending out e-mails to that effect so we aren't just sitting here wondering.
Here's hoping....
