If it helps at all, Michigan's AEGD seemed to do rolling interviews last year - I got an interview invitation really late in the cycle (I got the notification in November, iirc), so I wouldn't say someone's completely out of the running if they haven't received an invite yet.
 
Thanks ltb. Did you go for the Michigan interview? How would you rate the program?

The residents gain experience in every specialty except for ortho and pedo is limited... but it attracted me when I heard about placing implants and the residents told me that if there is any surgery or experience you want, the director nearly always approves of it and gets someone to guide you. The residents seemed very satisfied and I liked that there are only 4 residents so I'd imagine the experience will be greater and we will get more personal attention in our work/discussion of cases.
 
Anyone hear from any more cali schools? Starting to get anxious

Hi, do you guys know if the programs do not even contact the applicants if they decide to not offer interviews or do they have give courtesy contacts to let the applicants down? Did programs tell you that they received the applications?

Anyone heard from programs in Boston yet?
 
I must say I am bummed by the response to my applications. I am the 1st ranked student of my class, I have been Class representative to committees in my School, I have extra-curricular stuff to show include community service and yet I haven't got an invite from any of the programs that I was hoping for. In fact my classmates were deriding me for applying to AEGD saying that my credentials were good for ortho. I really don't know what went wrong!!!

I have only heard from Monte and I am guessing Methodist didnt give me an interview :S hope you have heard from other NYC ones...

San Diego VA sent out interview invites via email 2 days ago and Loma Linda VA sent out interview invites via email today.
 
nothing from boston heard here either...makes me feel good that I'm not the only one..hopefully soon though!

I heard from USC, San Diego and Loma Linda. I know people who heard from Sepulveda, West LA and Long Beach as well. Good luck!

Hi, it's ok. I heard that Methodist already did invites )o:, it seems like it is really competitive this year. The VA's especially. Are there still programs that haven't done their invites, or is the invite period pretty much over?

Hey guys I applied to only programs in NYC...
Ive gotten an interview at Monte, Brooklyn Hosp, NY Medical college, Lutheran both AEGD and GPR.... rejected from Manhattan VA... Didnt hear anything from Methodist guess I didnt get one... Northshore said interviews dont start till after Nov 15th I think...

Anyone here from Staten Island or Coler Goldwater?

Anyone know anything about those other programs?
 
North Shore sent out interview invites this past week. A lot of my classmates (including myself) got an interview.

They will apparently be sending some more this coming week.

Jacobi
Bronx-Lebanon
New York Medical College
Coler-Goldwater
Lutheran Medical Center
NY Flushing
NY Hospital Queens
Brookdale Hospital
Mt. Sinai

I received a NO from VA - Manhattan.

Still haven't heard from Bronx or Brooklyn VAs, Cornell and Methodist.

Anyone hear from San Francisco VA?
 
Has anyone interviewed at Iowa's GPR and do you have any ideas of what the program is like... do they place implants, learn IV sedation, do any complex restorative cases or is it just complex amalgams and taking call for the oral surgery residents. I've looked and been unable to find much information on what they actually do and am trying to decide whether or not I want to pay all the travel costs to go out there and interview. Thanks in advance!

Yikes, sorry - late reply. I didn't go for the interview - I found programs I liked already. For what it's worth, I didn't like Michigan's GPR, but I believe the AEGD was quite different (and good, from what I heard).

I interviewed last year. You spend half the year in the VA and half the year in the hospital clinic. Not a lot of surgery (OS does most of it, which I believe you have a 6 week rotation on, and there's an intern at the VA that handles most OS stuff). Lots of prosth at the VA, but not so sure about the hospital clinic.

I recall IV sedation being a part of the curriculum, but I'm not certain how much they did.

For what it's worth, Dr. Forbes is a really nice guy and would likely be more than willing to answer your questions if you just e-mail them to him. Travel costs are obviously a concern, so I'd guess he'd appreciate that fact if you wanted to get more info before going to interview.
 
I am a FTD and i am interested in AEGD and GPR programs. can you tell me how much time does ADEA PASS/Match takes to complete application after submitting it. IS it late to apply for GPR/AGED prog ..Plz help

and U texas San Antonio (interview completed)

Anyone hear form UCLA Westwood? i called and they said that the invites werent out for the wetwood program yet but they said the same thing for the venice program... and i had received and invite weeks ago?!?

i am a Canadian student, anyone think that will work against me?

SF VA apparently only gave out 12 interviews for 4 positions. 300 applicants. If you haven't heard yet, it's probably late... best of luck on all the rest tho!
 
I just received an interview invite from Cedars-Sinai. Looks like California is still offering interviews!
