Does anyone know what the breakdown is for approx what % get accepted/re-reviewed/rejected? Also does anyone know when those of us who got the "keep in touch" letter will be re-evaluated? Just trying to put the re-review decision into the appropriate context. Thanks!!!

I interviewed early september, and I got some bogus letter from sinai saying that I was still being considered, and that the application pool is strong....did anyone that got that letter hear back from them with either acceptance or rejection yet?

Silly question, but what subject are we supposed to use in our confirmation E-mail? Should it be "invitation to interview at Mount Sinai School of Medicine"? Thanks.

It matters because it is a part of Sinai's mission along with AECOM to provide healthcare to Jewish communities in that area.

This isn't even remotely true of the institution in it's current form. Maybe this was part of the mission statement years ago, but nothing like what you're suggesting appears in our mission statement.

I'm a current non-jewish MS3 at MSSM.

Does anyone know if the " Explore Mount Sinai event" on Jan 25 will be financed by the school? As in flights and accomodation. Thank you.

I was wondering the same thing but I don't think it will. Also, do you guys have any idea of dressing code for the event? Should we go as formal as in the interview?

It is like an early second look for what Sinai called their "exceptional applicants". So, I can only assume that only a selected few were invited.

O.J. Simpson, still not a Jew.

anybody have any idea when mt. sinai interviews until/send out their last interview invites? still holding onto that sliver of hope...

Looking at last year's thread, they sent out invites all the way into February so hopefully there will be some more in the coming months!

Just got the II, after secondary complete for 4.5 month. Good luck to all who are still waiting!

BTW, when the interview day at MSSM usually concludes?

They didn't ask me to choose, just signed me Jan 30 in the email. But they allow you to reschedule if necessary. Good luck!

has anyone gotten a rejection from them yet? I thought last year they were quicker to reject people or maybe I confused them with another school.. hope they are another silent rejecter type

Happy new year guys!

Just wondering whether anybody has interviewed for the 5-year PORTAL program of clinical research at Sinai? Does it have one more interview in addition to the two interviews of regular MD program? Can any current student comment on how that program works?

Thanks!

Hi! According to last year's thread, there was a post-interview rejection reported 1/11 (41S/3.8...crazy), and a big wave of pre-interview rejections that went out around 1/30, so there should be a bit of time until that starts!

I interviewed at Sinai for both MD and the PORTAL program in October. There is an additional interview - during the middle of my interview session I was pulled aside for a 15 minute interview with Dr. Zier, the director of the PORTAL and PhD program.

One of the student tour guides I had also happened to be a part of the program, so he gave me some insight on how it works. During your first two years, You basically take one extra class per semester that focuses on the fundamentals of conducting clinical research. The bulk of the actual research comes in between your third and fourth years, where you take a gap year to work on your research project, but if you are especially proactive they will work with you to find a lab during summers. Competition is pretty stiff though, they only take something like five people per year. Good luck and hope this helps!
