admissions send us an email with our student ID and password to access an admissions checklist. It has stuff like your health forms, deposit, study styles inventory, BLS certification, etc
 
Long time lurker accepted today via phone call. Interviewed 02/19/13, placed on hold 03/22/13.

Stats 3.84 Cum, 3.8 Sci, 31S, IS.

First acceptance this cycle! Phew!

Acceptance today over the phone! Interview late February, later was put on Hold for Spring Consideration. Does anyone remember the name of the lady who called (I was so shocked I blanked out). Also, anyone knows if they are still offering "shadow a student" day?
 
My husband just got the call today too! He'll definitely be attending since it's his top choice!! The shock still hasn't worn off, I'm such a proud wife!!!!!!

Don't lose faith if you're on the waitlist!! I hope you all get into your top choice too!
 
Glad to see a lot of people are getting off of the "Hold" list! I interviewed 2/19 and was put on hold 4/05. I sent in an LOI before I received the hold notification (because the interview just seemed to go extraordinarily well.) Just wondering, did you guys recently submit any sort of update letter?

I was told not to send anything until after I heard back from one of the medical students

I was accepted today and sent a letter of interest a few weeks ago. I interviewed in late Feb and was put on hold in early Apr. I think you should show as much interest as possible, so if you can send them an update with new info or even an additional strong letter of recommendation it will most likely be looked upon positively.
 
I interviewed late April. I was told I would hear back by may 15 but have not. Am I hoping for an impossibly quick turnaround?

I agree for the most part. It just seems that everyone has a different view on what to do (in terms of showing interest and sending letters). I just sent my LOI after being put on hold, and am hoping for the best!
 
I wonder how many open seats they have right now... 🙂 and when to expect a rejection email / envelope...

Geez, that's a lottery to tell the truth...
 
Even though I noticed people get accepted with lower stats than mine, I'm considering about retaking the MCAT. It seems that it is the only factor that allows one to be accepted right away, without being put on hold, and being left praying for a lucky ticket.
 
Morrinelli, what is your MCAT if you dont mind me asking? I think a lot depends on "writing" you had to do for your applications. During one of my interviews my interviewer said that my app poorly reflects my true personality. Unfortunately, we have to "sell" ourselves to med schools and numbers are one thing but words are another
 
I got off the wait list and was offered a spot on the upcoming graduating class!

Just speculating but it looks like they are pulling from the holdlist from only recent interviewees (Feb-April) for now

I agree with you regarding "selling" ourselves. I probably didn't learn how to do it. MCAT 32, GPA > 3.7.

By the way, congrats with successful cycle!

I was wondering if that was the case too.. Hopefully they'll get to the rest of us soon
 
Does anyone know if they actually alternate listed anyone? I don't remember seeing it in this thread, but someone did say they got alternate listed in the waitlist thread. It looks like everyone is just on hold and they will decide from there.

It's really strange this year that only one person reported to be alternate listed so far.
 
Got accepted yesterday afternoon!! Interviewed 12/06, put on hold about a month later. GPA c 3.8, GPAs 3.8, MCAT 34.... Sent a LOI and a few update letters.
 
I cannot wait until I get an official letter stating my acceptance. Don't trust telephone call :/
 
Congratulations to those who got in after being put on hold. I wonder if this indicates that Downstate will have a lot more movement later on as well.

I called earlier this week to ask. The lady said they'll start the alternate list beginning of June - which is also when everyone "on hold for late spring" should hear back. 2 more weeks...
 
I was put on the hold list back in April. Today I received an save-the-date email for orientation and white-coat ceremony, but I never received an acceptance letter or phone call. Anyone in a similar situation or have any idea what this means? Am I in or no?
 
you should call and check because I don't see why they'd send you the white coat email if you weren't accepted.

I was accepted this week and got the email.
Call them. No one else on the thread is posting about "hold" and "save the date". I think you will likely get some good news

I think it means good things 🙂 I got the email and I've been accepted. It doesn't make sense to tell you about dates relevant for you/your family if you aren't in!

I got the same email and called the admissions office. Found out I was accepted, so I'm sure you're in the same boat. Congrats!
 
i am on hold for spring consideration and basically on the waitlist for two other schools with no acceptances this cycle, so naturally I've started working on the application for the next cycle. I called downstate and asked them if it would have a negative impact on my current 2013 application standing if i added the school to the 2014 app as well...the admissions person said that I shouldnt add downstate yet and I should just wait until july when I hear back. The problem is that last cycle I applied late (didn't get my MCAT in till aug 28.) and I don't want to make the same mistake twice...anyone else in a similar situation?

I think you are in. I got the phone call on Wednesday, today got the same e-mail as you. Call Ilana Levine and find out. Good luck!

You can submit your AMCAS and have it verified, just choose one school you want to apply to. Later on you can add more schools, including Downstate if the Alternate list doesn't work out. Then if you submit Downstate secondary in mid July you won't be late.
 
I just got an email saying i should get the decision by snail mail soon. The problem is I'm in Vietnam right now.... Am i coming home to good news or bad? I remember someone in the thread said snail mail is usually good news.

I think we've seen both good and bad news come in the snail mail. Sorry I know this doesn't answer your question.

ouch I would ask my family member to call SUNY D because they only give 2 weeks to accept/decline.
