no offense, but let's be brutally honest...if u were qualified enough to receive a merit scholarship, they would have already accepted you...immediately.

i've heard for temple that scholarships are based solely on GPA + MCAT. So it's possible that other factors caused someone to be waitlisted, but after acceptance, by just looking at GPA + MCAT, the admissions committee will give waitlisted acceptees some money.

Right, because a bad interview has absolutely no bearing on admissions decisions.

I was always under the impression that for the most part they know whether they're going to admit you already and you'd have to be particularly wonderful or horrible to bump your application up or down. At least that was the gist of what I took from LizzyM's post.

I think how an interview impacts an admissions decision varies significantly by school. I have no clue how it works at Temple, but my point was really just that someone with the stats to be offered a merit-based scholarship who bombs an interview still might not stand a chance.

I've been complete since 8/1 and haven't heard a thing =\

Just withdrew from Temple's applicant pool and forfeited my interview date, January 23rd. Hope one of you guys gets it!

With ur stats.. i m very surprised u havent gotten an invite yet... i m sure the application cycle is going well for you with those stats..

Just emailed admissions to withdraw my application. Best of luck to everyone who really wants to attend Temple!!!

Hello!

What do you all recommend for the ride from Temple to PHL?! I read some stories on here about taking the SEPTA... is it really that bad? How long total would you anticipate that route taking? I plan to change out of my suit before leaving the med school (always do) so I don't care about the possibility of getting my clothes ruined..

Anyone have any experience with shared ride vans? (e.g. the Liberty Flyer)

Is PHL the airport? If so I took SEPTA from temple --> center city (specifically it was the walnut and broad stop I can't remember any more details than that 🙁) From there I took the lady liberty shuttle to the airport for 10 bucks from my hotel (holiday inn express). It really isn't that bad. I took SEPTA back and forth in my suit without any problems.

I take the SEPTA regional rail to work in Philly every day and the subway around. It's like any other city subway. If you go to their website (septa.org) they have a ride planner and it can tell you which trains to take and the schedules will tell you how long it will take. You can take a train from temple to market east station or 30th street station and transfer to one that will take you to the airport.

Does anyone who interviewed recently remember what the admissions director said about committee meetings this month? She said they normally meet every Friday, but January was going to be a bit different. I can't remember which Friday's she said they were meeting this month. Thanks!

Interviewing tomorrow! I'm staying with a couple of first years who seem pretty chill. They're much more relaxed about studying and med student lifestyle than other medical students I've met. The area around the medical school is a little sketchy though. I went to Max's subs or whatever its called and some guy tried to sell me porno.

Oh well, I heard the interviews were really conversational and not too stressful. Let's hope mine are like that :xf:

Heads up though 4 of us on my interview day had the same interviewer who just drilled us on questions! So don't go in expecting it to be completely chill or you might be taken by surprise.

Damn. Guess I should brace myself.

Poor guy. What a terrible business. I guess he doesn't know about the Internet.

So I my interview went okay. The day was pretty nice. I wished there was more to the tour, they took us to like 3-4 areas and the anatomy lab and talked the entire time. Everyone was extremely nice. I liked the school. I don't like that it's all in one building. I also didn't really like the surrounding neighborhood too much but I guess that's what makes it a great place to study. My student interview was awesome! I actually talked to her like she was my friend. It was easy-going, conversational, definitely non-stressful, and she was just a nice person to talk to. My faculty interviewer was a different case. I had Dr. Malmud and he was running 30 minutes late. His previous interviewees received like 45 mins each and I got 25. He also asked about my high school experiences which I barely remember any of it. He also wouldn't let me finish a train of thought and would ask a completely unrelated question- interrupting me. He was a nice guy but the interview was iffy. I hope I did well though.

Edit: Dr. Malmud also told me that the class of 2017 is full (or the class size number of acceptances/seats for the class has been sent out) but they know that people withdraw etc so they are still interviewing and whatnot

WHAT?! sigh. so they're done sending out acceptances until may 15?

Edit: I just called, they said that an interview now would not be an interview for the wait list spot and that "they are still giving out acceptances"

I don't know. They might still send out acceptances because they know peoplenwillnwithdraw or put people on wait list until spaces open up. ( take what I say with a grain of salt)

thanks for the info, good luck!

Has anyone called the admissions office to get an application status update? I have sitting "under review" for like 3 months now... really wondering if I should sent a letter of intent to one of the other schools.. but dont know whether I should wait for Temple.. especially if they have already basically given out all their acceptances and it all depends on people who withdraw :/

If it makes you feel any better, I've been "under review" for twice as long as you have.

Has anyone recently gotten an interview? When does Temple stop interviewing?

Hi everyone. I withdrew my app so there should be a morning interview (i think 9 or 9:30 am) slot open on Jan 30th. I emailed my withdrawal just now so I'm not sure how long it'll take to go into effect. Good luck!

The last post interview decisions that were posted about on here were over a month ago! I wonder whats going on 😕

I hope they're not done... Been complete since early August and no word 🙁

maybe some current students can comment on this, I've been accepted to temple and a few other places, and I really want to go to second look, but not really sure how it works, like when is it? and do you have to be invited or can you just sign up? and if you can sign up, how do i go about doing that?

Thanks!

Hey,
Has anyone who interviewed in Jan had a status change or gotten a reponse?

Thanks in advance!

I always assumed that all accepted students were invited. You should get an email within the next month, I'd expect. It should be on a Friday in March, at least that's what it's been for the past few years. My guess would be the 15th or 22nd.

I interviewed Jan 16th and haven't received an email about a status change.

Does anyone know if any of the tours take place outside (e.g. if we'd get a little wet in the rain)? Thanks in advance!!

The tour is all inside the new medical education building so you won't be outside! You will only be outside if they assign you to an interviewer who is in a nearby building in which case you would need to walk a block or two outdoors.

Yippy! Thanks!

Has anyone received any post interview decisions recently? I interviewed this past thursday the 24th and while I am not expecting any decision for a few weeks I am still curious as to what kind of timetable to expect.

Thanks!

Hey guys,
I was trying to upload a passport photo because I have been invited for an interview (complete 10/2) and in the email they say the picture has to be in jpeg format. However, when I try to upload the pic onto the "send us stuff" tab it says the file must be in PDF format? Is anyone else having problems with this? Or am I just not uploading it right?

Thanks 😀

Also curious as to this. Any January interviewees hear back?

For what it's worth I interviewed December 6th and haven't heard back. I've been keeping an eye out on the thread and no ones heard back that interviewed in December either 🙁 I'm pretty much waiting for a waitlist/rejection at this point, but maybe they're just overfilled/delayed?

I had the same problem. When I tried uploading my photo as a jpeg I got an error message because of the format. However, when I logged back in later my photo was there. A little odd
