He's actually 100% correct. Using a director's name, office address, phone number, and e-mail to sign a fraudulent rejection? Very poor decision. Would edit that post if I were you.
I haven't gotten a secondary from Vanderbilt yet! My life is over, withdrawing all applications and applying to dental school. Good luck everyone.
Hey guys and girls,
Just a quick reminder to keep things professional, especially in a school specific thread. Pre-meds will be checking these threads for advice next year, and you never know who is following the thread this year.
Thanks
Check out this year's incoming class at Vandy's White Coat Ceremony, today at 4p (Central Time) via livestream at: https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/events/white-coat-ceremony
They sent me the "hey we saw you applied to Vanderbilt, keep your ears open" email 7/25... Wonder how long it will take to reject me.
MCAT: BS 1, PS 1, VR 1, T

I mean, the T might pull you up a bit, but the 3 on your MCAT is going to make getting past the screen difficult.
Kidding, of course.
Here I am reapplying and looking at a video of my fellow interviewees getting their white coat. I'll go cry in the corner now.

+1 Same exact experience without the 35 MCAT. But it's much worse sad-wise when you're conducting research on campus during the white coat ceremony. 🙁
I had extenuating circumstances surrounding my MCAT and bombed it. Even with sending letters explaining the circumstances and presenting as first author in a national nuerosurgical conference, practically all of the MSTP directors said they'd have interviewed me had I only had at least a 30; got a letter from an MD post interview saying "improve your MCAT"; and got waitlisted at one school. Spurned as I am, I'm going 90% MD 10% MD/MPH and only reapplying to two of the same schools in my pot of 28 reapplications (which may increase to 31 if I get a >/= 33). I'll probably add Vandy to the list if I get >30.

😱 you didn't get in with a 3.8/35?! This process makes me so nervous...

Harry potter like campus, and very fashionably dressed students and professors.
I'm pretty sure you still only get a secondary if they're going to give you an interview. Right?
No, I think it's different this year; they're going to screen secondaries for interviews as well. I'm not sure about the number of secondaries and interviews given out, though.
That's the message I got after reading the website. On one place it says about 1/4 of the applicants receive secondaries and on another page it says about 1/5, anyone have a feel for which one is correct?
The page that says 1/4 seems to be more current (since it is 2013 entering class year specific) so maybe that will turn out to be more accurate?
Also interesting that last year Vanderbilt interviewed ~1/5 of its applicant pool, meaning if they do that again this year they'll screen out very few applicants from those who receive secondaries...
That was my though exactly and the reason I asked, hopefully this is the case. I also believe this coming Friday is the first day they will offer II, I'll be waiting patiently.
. . .
I feel you. Good luck on the MCAT! I knew I was screwed when Dr Zic was calling others who interviewed after me. Oh well you're fortunate to work in such a great place...loved the crazy squirells, Harry potter like campus, and very fashionably dressed students and professors.
Just remember to bring your own paper, pens, and most of all, your own wand. We don't lend; we're classy like that.Wait, Harry Potter campus? Then I'll fit in, just like my undergrad!

troll?
So the late night hours in the ER have turned me to paranoia.
Are there many others that have yet to receive a secondary after getting a "We got your AMCAS" email? I got mine July 12th, and still no word. Although, I suppose I should give it at least a month before freaking out eh?
The school just seems so amazing though. Thanks to those posting the videos, the students all seem so happy, and from the other med students I have met, this is not necessarily the norm.
To be a fly on an adcoms office wall....
Oh don't worry, I've bugged their entire office!
Oh hey, there's my application!
Aaaaaand it's gone.
Ahh so happy, did not expect this secondary with a 33/3.8!!
Same stats no secondary 🙁![]()
