2012 APPIC Internship Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
One of the people in my cohort (ahem Mel) is very fashion forward and put together an interview ensemble that is not a typical suit, but looks professional, hip, and very "her."

Aww, thanks. I'm blushing 😳...

I just received personalized email invitation for the Iowa City VA!

I just received a personalized email invitation to the Calgary Clinical Psychology Residency. They are conducting interviews on Jan 5, 6 and 10th this year. 🙂

Was the Jesse Brown invite in someway addressed to people in the neuro track?

E.g., Am I safe in assuming that it was specific to people who applied to this track / wasn't to all invited applicants for all tracks?

Just received a personalized email rejection from South Shore Mental Health. The name of the site was not in the title or the body of the email, so it took me awhile to figure out who was rejecting me!

I just received an interview invite by phone from Comprehensive Outpatient Services. The message said interviews would be conducted next week, the week of 19th, and in January.

Rejected by email today: Lexington VA, Hefner VA, Pine Grove

Interview request from Brooke Army Medical Center on 11/18, interview on 12/8.

All the Air Force sites have open houses and interview everyone - I'm going to all of them.

Eisenhower Army Medical Center had an open house on 11/4, went to that. Interviewed Army Walter Reed on 11/10.

The Navy sends you to one of their two sites for an interview, looks like I"m going somewhere between Jan 4-6 to Bethesda.

Last year I rolled my suit when I packed it into my carry-on just as described in the video in this link and it never got wrinkled! Of course I was so worried I would ruin my suit, but it really works! In case the link doesn't work, go to YouTube, then type in "how to roll a suit" and it is the first video that comes up.

Also, when you shower either the day of/night before your interview, put the suit in the bathroom with you and the steam from the shower will make the suit nice & fresh 🙂

Oooh congrats! I'm really hoping for one but haven't heard a thing yet.

I received an interview invite by phone today for the Wisconsin-Madison DOP, Health Track

I am pretty sure that was the coolest thing I have ever learned about folding clothes. Thank you for sharing. I am going to pack everything this way from now on. :wow:

Received email invites from Henry Ford (Consultation-Liaison track, addressed to me by name) and Michigan State CC (addressed to Pre-Doctoral Intern Applicant) today.

I know I don't really mean it, but I feel like a rejection is better than this deafening silence.

Can any of my still-no-response 11 sites wake up and show a sign of life???

I'm still waiting to hear from 11 sites also! I am not a patient person by nature, so this is driving me nuts!

Interview at advocate Illinois Masonic medical center. Personalized email.

ugh, meant rotations...I thought there might be a chance they were notifying dependent on what rotations you were most interested in. I am losing it.

I realize that nobody knows 100% one way or the other, but what is the general consensus if you haven't heard either way from the Harvard/MGH CBT track?

Still a chance or not?

Congratulations!!! I'm still waiting to hear back from them (fingers crossed)... Might I ask which track you applied for?

Is it just me, or does this process remind anyone else of those awkward teenage years when you'd wait by the phone waiting for your crush to call you and tell you they like you? Checking to make sure your phone is working, imagining what you'll say when they call, deciding what you'll wear to really impress..... 😉

Haha, it really does feel like that!!! I really need to stop compulsively checking my e-mail and phone because I am starting to go crazy.

^^^This. Exactly. Wondering how much you should share about yourself if they do ask you out, wondering what they find attractive, how soon is too soon to call... sigh.🙄

Is the navy interview over a few days? Do they fly you or do you have to pay your way?

Anyone hear from, or know anyone who has heard from, Friends Hospital in Philly? Seems they at least sent out rejections by this time last year....... 😎

interview invite this afternoon. email was not personalized.

I applied to adult mental health/behavioural medicine. Good luck, I hope the interview is on the way!

Finally got my first interview offer at PSU!

Received a personalized email. Interview options are Wed Jan 4th through Tues Jan 10 at 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm & last 2 hours.

People traveling get priority in scheduling, which I thought was very considerate.

I've only seen one person post on this thread about the CBT track, several post about rejections received from MGH, and I know a few great applicants who applied CBT and also have heard nothing. I'm still holding out hope since I've only heard about the one interview offer! :xf:

Sorry! first time posting! I'm talking only about Institute of Living.

That's kind of what I was thinking. However, I wanted to make sure I wasn't misssing anything and/or overlooking a bunch of responses from people saying they received interview invites. Good luck to you!

personalized email rejection from University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, pediatric neuropsych track at 7:30p Pacific time

it was not a mass email and they didn't mention whether or not interviews are rolling

Personalized (name inserted into message) email invitation for the Clinical Child Track at UNM Health Sciences Center. Interview options are 1/6, 1/9, 1/13, 1/17, 1/20, and 1/23.
