Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has heard from the MEDVAMC - Houston? According to the forum, someone got an email from them on 11/28, but was wondering if anyone can please confirm the details as to what track, and if it was mass/individualized?

Thanks and well wishes to all.

I was emailed on 11/28 as well - generic email addressed to "applicants." Hope this helps.

Rejection e-mail from Texas Children's Hospital this morning.

Has anyone heard from any of the following:

Riverbend Community Mental Health
Saint John's Child and Family Development Center
Milton Hershey School
Franciscan Children's Hospital
Yale-New Haven Hospital - Adolescent Track
Institute for Child and Family Health
USC - Adolescent Track

I haven't seen anything about them on the forum, but I was just wondering if I missed out.

Thanks! :xf:

Applied to Milton Hershey and Franciscan and haven't heard anything from either. Let me know if you do!

Not a peep regarding the Yale Adolescent Track. I think someone posted a while back that they were offered an interview for this position. I don't think it was ever said how the invitation to interview went out. The tracks and selection process at Yale appears to be isolated to the supervisors directly involved with a given track and I'm not sure how much between-track talk happens there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

After what seemed like a deafening week of silence... just got an email invite to Mendota Mental Health Institute!!! It was a mass email... they forgot to BCC everyone, so it looks like 21 people were on the email (yes, I counted...) :soexcited:

YAY!!! Congrats! I guess that means a rejection is headed my way lol

I received one that was addressed to 5 people...

+pity+ I got a rejection email from Children's Hospital in Colorado. "Dear Future Colleague" was how it was addressed. It was my number 1 choice 🙁

Has anyone flown Spirit Airlines before? It seems like they have a bunch of cheap flights to different areas. Trying to cut costs

I didn't know you could apply for more than one branch. How did you handle MEPS? You have to indicate which branch you're applying to when you go.

I did my physical at Great Lakes, not at MEPS. However, I think I know the answer. You would sign some paperwork with the recruiter of the other branch(es) and they would take "temporary ownership" of your file. I had my physical on hand myself, so I just gave it to them. You absolutely can apply for all the branches, and they know you are/might, unless you're HPSP and already locked into an obligation.

Hi all. Received an email to interview about 10 minutes ago from the VA Northern California HCS - Martinez. This was addressed dear applicant, and I had an interest in their neuro track.

Just got a personalized rejection email from them talking about my "impressive credentials." It had been killing me that people reported getting both rejections and invites from them, and I had not heard anything. I believe that the personal nature of the email likely meant that I had made it to some further round of consideration. So the lesson I'm taking from this is that, for those of us who haven't heard from a site despite invites/rejections having been sent out, it probably means we're still being considered. Don't count yourselves out yet!

Child track, btw

Hey there!

Got a very nice personalized email this afternoon from the U of Arizona (neuro track) inviting me for an interview. They said they would contact me next week to schedule a day.

I just received the same "personalized" rejection. We must have been in a second round and didn't make the cut.

Yay!!! Congrats! I received one as well...very disorienting to see others' names on there...

has anyone received rejections from Seattle VA? Also, any word on HCMC or UWash med?

I received the same personalized rejection letter. I am relieved that I heard from them - even if it wasn't the news I was hoping to hear 🙁 oh well.. things have a way of working out in the end... right?!! 🙂

Good luck to everyone who has (had) interviews at Bellevue!!!

so the best way to get an invite from a given site is probably to mentally cross that site off your possibilities and book flights that temporally / locationally prohibit interviewing at said site, right?

Invite to Children's Hospital of Colorado via email. 🙂 This site is definitely highly ranked on my list so I'm excited.
Congrats to all of you raking in the interview offers today. I wish more of my site hopefuls would jump on this bandwagon.

I have an invite to Martinez and I applied to Adult or General. They said that they completed their review of applications.

Rejection. Addressed Dear Ms. __ but generic body.

Wait a minute here . . . I'm confused on this one. I thought that this VA just had an open house and that everyone was invited. Are they sending out rejections & invites? 😕

The brochure says:

" Open House@font-face { font-family: "Arial"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; The John D. Dingell VA Medical Center Psychology Internship Program does not require an in-person interview; however, to accommodate those students interested in visiting our facility, an Open House will be held on January 03, 2011, from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please contact the Training Director to confirm attendance. The purpose of the Open House is to inform applicants about training opportunities and to introduce members of our supervisory staff as well as current interns.

The Program encourages interested applicants, who are not able to visit the Medical Center for the January Open House, to contact the Training Director, Psychology staff, and/or current interns via telephone or e-mail in order to obtain information about the training experience at our facility. The Psychology Section telephone number is (313) 576-1000, extension 63408. Because in-person interviews are not a part of the Program's selection procedure, applicants will not be notified about their interview status. Interested applicants may contact the Training Director after reviewing this document in order to obtain the most current description of the Training Program. Though formal interviews are not part of selection process, there should be no expectation that contact with staff or interns will not affect how an applicant is rated."

I flew on Spirit once before and was very unimpressed. The customer service was non-existent, the flights were consistently late, and the coach seating was unbearably uncomfortable. It felt like a flying in a sardine can. I will pay a little more for a better airline.

Maybe the rejection just meant that they will not be ranking that person?? That definitely sounds like some confusing information.

Rejection, child track, email, same email as last year.

"Please do not take this as a negative evaluation of your many accomplishments. Our decision is based only on a realistic evaluation of “fit” for our program and likelihood of acceptance."

...by not interviewing me, you significantly decrease my likelihood of acceptance...

I continue to be annoyed by getting the exact same rejection emails as last year. 👎

8 rejections, 1 interview, 11 sites left.

My colleague received an email invite from the U of Manitoba Clinical Health Adult Track (personalized with interview date/time), and an email invite from QEII as well.

I of course am still waiting to hear anything from anyone, haha. I'm dying to hear from Manitoba. It's an amazing fit and if I go there, I get to keep my relationship. If I don't, it's back to singledom. No pressure or anything right?

Got an email this afternoon to interview at Salt Lake City VA. That's 3 interviews, 4 rejections, 9 left to hear.

Hi all, I am wondering what exactly is a 'rolling interview'? I understand that it means people are receiving interview notifications at different times, but for what reasons might they be doing this? Alphabetical? Ranking?

They are cheap upfront but then cost a lot for wacky things like CARRY-ON LUGGAGE and choosing a seat before the flight. It adds up.

Apparently sites got a lot more applications this year in comparison to years before. So some of them are reading through, sending invites, reading through some more, sending more invites, and so on.

I bet some are inviting their top choices first, some invite those who applied earlier first - but we cannot guess which site does what exactly...

I know of 3 people who have used Spirit before and they made it to their desitnations safely. Can't speak to customer service or space though. Gook luck!:luck:

Thanks for the responses....still debating about whether to book a flight through them, press has been bad though so far on them.

Like your name dream chaser 🙂
