Personalized email rejection from Family Services and Guidance Center... that's 4 definite rejections, 1 probable rejection, and no interviews... with 7 left in question...

I keep reading about the problems with the system here. Anyone want to try to figure out what we can do to change the system? Private message me if so.
 
Just received mass email invite for an interview at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto. Interviews are on 5 days between Jan 11-20.

I was offered January 5th initially but had a conflict and was able to schedule on the 12th. Someone on the forum mentioned being offered Jan 23rd. Good luck with scheduling 🙂

I haven't heard of anyone else getting rejections or acceptances. My name is probably pretty high on the alphabet, so I'm guessing I might have been one of the first ones they called. Good luck!

I've heard from previous applicants who are now in internship that the wave of rejections tends to supercede the wave of interviews as it takes longer to keep making the cut...

Just a few questions: What are the hours for their open house (i.e., beginning & end times)? Did they give any indication that they were only calling applicants of the child track?

I was offered Jan 5. Hope rescheduling works out for you! :xf:
 
The person who called me said that she was specifically the director for the Child track, but she didn't say anything about the other tracks. I'm not sure of the exact hours. I think that the interview will start early in the morning, and the end of the day will probably depend on how many people you ask to interview with and what time they're able to schedule your meeting with them. It will probably be an all day thing though if you want to meet with faculty.

Thanks! I have interviews on the days right before and after the open house. I was thinking about the logistics just in case they invite me. Keeping my fingers crossed. Congrats again!

And did anyone contact them via email this week, as they requested, and receive a response about an interview? My colleague and I contacted them this week and haven't heard back either way. I also emailed them at the end of last week (because I'm ******ed and didn't know it wasn't the "week of the 5th") and then this week and nothing back.
 
Received an email invitation to Palo Alto. I applied to the general and behavioral medicine tracks. 🙂
 
crud, I just found out why I was rejected from SW Consortium. APPIC didn't have my 3rd LOR. I had this issue with 2 sites, but thankfully, when I emailed the other site, the TD just told me if I can get it to him, so I'm having my 3rd LOR email the TD directly.

This sucks, $10 down the drain on a site.
 
Has anyone heard either way from the Yale Adult Clinical Services - Substance Abuse Track???
 
I really appreciate the support from everyone!!! (Cervello, Duck Duck Goose, Member888, marvelgrrl, Therapist4Chnge, pinkasaurus, and also some of the PMs that I received) Cervello and Therapist4Chnge, I remember seeing you guys on here last year. It means a lot to know that there are others going through their own difficulties with this process and that we can all be supportive of each other. I try to offer words of comfort and congratulations whenever I can. It really is uplifting and helpful to know others are responsive to the unique situations of each individual here. Again, I really appreciate everything, and I am also thankful for everyone else who posts information on here, sharing where they did or didn't get interviews, what things people are worrying about, helpful information about interviews or getting to interviews, etc! 😍

I was afraid that some of you would react this way, and sorry to annoy/bore you with things you do not care to read about on this forum. I remember that this was a supportive place for many members last year when I was first applying, and have also seen some supportive things that people have said to each other on here so far this year. Last year I got the majority of my support from my cohort at school as we were all going through this together, but now that the majority of them have gone off to internship and even for those of us who did not, we are not at school anymore and don't see each other so... I took a chance and turned to this group for support and I was very grateful to the responses that I got.

I was afraid that some of you would react this way, and sorry to annoy/bore you with things you do not care to read about on this forum. I remember that this was a supportive place for many members last year when I was first applying, and have also seen some supportive things that people have said to each other on here so far this year. Last year I got the majority of my support from my cohort at school as we were all going through this together, but now that the majority of them have gone off to internship and even for those of us who did not, we are not at school anymore and don't see each other so... Yeah, I agree, I've had several issues this past 6 weeks already, but I'm glad there's a lot of support here for each other.

Even taking on the task of listing the sites, I have to read each post here, and I don't mind reading the tangential questions/comments/etc (i.e. Interview suits!) because they are all relevant.

If others preferred though so they don't have to scour through posts, I will be happy to create a thread with JUST invites/rejections.

Just to clarify my earlier comment. I can't speak for others but personally I like (and appreciate!) the support felt on the forum, but there have recently been some very negative, disparaging comments/complaints about "the system" that I think may be better expressed elsewhere. In some cases these comments have been productive, but in my opinion, not in other cases. We are all in this system, so let's make the best of it. If it's all the system's fault and there's nothing we can do, then why should we be working so hard? To me, these criticisms are counterproductive. I'd much prefer to see this forum be an encouraging environment for others to share concerns, support, interview tips, and interview notifications in a positive manner.

I am with you. I enjoy everything, the support, the information, the questions, the comments, etc. I am glad so many people are hearing good news and Good luck to those who have not heard yet. And thank you for all that you do, it is a lot of work I am sure...😍
 
I don't think a separate thread is necessary AND I think problems with the system are fair game for this thread. There is an ongoing list of invitations/rejections (notice both positive and negative info being shared) posted every so often, so if that is what you are here for then just scroll back until you find the most recent one. I've done that many times. If, on the other hand, you are interested in the other dynamics within the group and to receiving/offering support - go for it! And if you are interested in talking about the problems of the system and especially ways that it might be improved and avenues for enacting that change - I would personally love to hear what you have to say! I requested personal messages for that purpose if folks don't want to share in the more public way, but if folks want to put their thoughts out to the world then I welcome that as well! 🙂

I'm still hoping to get matched, but regardless I think it's clear that there are some problems with the way things are and would like to be part of making things better. I believe in the power of dialogue so I'd love to hear others' thoughts and ideas! This does not have to be defeated and negative but I understand that people are experiencing unpleasant feelings and need to vent as well. Personally, I'm most interested in dialogue over desired changes and how to go about creating change. Oh, and of course, the rejection/invitation updates. 🙂
