Legacy?!

Without that little piece of information I thought you matched straight out of school.

Congrats.

Thanks. I actually did a GPR and an internship...moral of the story; study hard in dental school (even if you think there is no chance you'll ever want to specialize)...never know what you'll become interested in. Haha.

let's keep this up!
More people who matched in california programs please post your stats. Thanks.

Wow! Am I misreading this or did you come straight out of school into a match? What do you attribute 7 interviews to with stats that are probably on the lower end of the applicants (absolutely no offense meant by this)? Were your interviews almost all at places you externed?

He did rank about 40 places, and his ECs look solid (my 2 cents)

Yes, I matched straight out of dental school. No offense taken in regards to my stats. As a matter of fact, I was extremely worried about my stats going into interviews. I interviewed at only 2 places I externed at (Highland and Fresno), the others (Loyola, LIJ 4 and 6 yr, Kings County and Detroit Receiving) I cant honestly say what got me an interview but I was honored to attend and to be considered. To be honest, I attribute my interviews (and eventual match) entirely based upon my externship experience at those programs. I spent 2 weeks at every place listed except at Highland, at which I spent 3 weeks. I cant really say what they saw in me other than someone who was dedicated to oral surgery, had the experience to know what I was getting myself in to and someone the residents could get along with. I know my stats deviate from the norm, but hopefully this can provide some insipiration to those with less than stellar scores that there is a spot out there for you if you want it bad enough.

not the best place to ask this question, but what do you think of USC's OMFS program?

Sorry to post in this thread without adding any information but I was wondering if anyone could give me answer as I am curious why it mentions if you are an international student or not. If you are an international student (from uk originally), would you have to be better on average than a normal 4 year student to get matched?

Thanks a lot guys.

Many of residencies require you to be an American permanent resident or a citizen to be considered. There are not many programs that accept international students, so competition is greater for these spots.

You should visit the websites of the residency programs you're interested in and see if it's worth applying to.

EDIT: I just read your previous posts, and realized that you are an American citizen that has a BDS. This is above and beyond my scope of knowledge. Best to call up a residency program and ask.

Also the people here from canada seem to have the same stats as usa, is canada not really considered international then?

Hey guys. I'm an international student finishing up my dental school here in the US. Does anyone have a list of all the schools that accept international students? Thanks

An Amazing one.. Words of praise donot do justice to this poem..
