2013-2014 APPIC (internship) interview thread

Personalized email invite from Northeast Florida State Hospital this morning! :soexcited: Only two interview dates for them; 1/6 and 1/13.

Non-personalized (fairly gentle) email rejection from Miami Children's Hospital yesterday afternoon.

What I have been doing is letting them know my preferences of the dates I can make and then letting them know that I am already committed the other dates. If a certain site is higher on your list than another, then you may have to decide which site you will be more flexible with.

That's what I have been doing so far (letting them know I am committed to one out of the four dates and ranking the other three), but I don't know what to do when they email me and I am only available for like two of their dates (I guess the same thing?) My schedule is getting crowded (a good problem to have!). So if my top choice site emails me with an interview date, and it conflicts with a date where I have an interview with my bottom site, should I cancel the interview (or ask if it can be moved) with the bottom site, or is that considered rude as well? Thank you!

I am getting to that point as well! Like you said though...a good problem! My plan is to do just that, try to reschedule with a site that is less a priority or try and see if they will do a Skype or phone interview. It will all work out! Good luck these next few days to you and everyone else! Just one more mountain to hop over.

Just rank the 2 you can do. Sites understand you will have other interviews and accept that you can't be in 2 places at once. Worst case scenario is you will have to do a phone interview.
 
Do sites that hold a open house have maybe piles? Only ask because one of mine appears to have sent invitations and rejections, and I haven't heard either way.

Another update: University of Oklahoma generic rejection e-mail, then a few hours later received a "you're still under consideration but not invited for an interview" e-mail... kinda confusing

I got the same email. I think it just means they will still rank us, but below all the people they interview. I'm assuming that everyone is "still under consideration" and they are just trying to make sure they don't end up without a match. I will rank them as well, but below all the sites that interview me.

Interview at Eastern Virginia Medical School for the Pediatric Behavioral Medicine track! Email looked generic and only gave one option for interview date, January 13, with three time slot options.

Congrats! I am interviewing there as well. It seems they are only doing interviews on 1/8 and 1/15, I am going on the 15th. Do you know a lot about this site? I couldn't find much on them, but they seem very forensic, which is why I applied.

Does anyone have a list of Phase II sites from last year?

I do not, my understanding is it can really vary what sites end up with openings for Phase II. My advice is not to put that added stress on yourself until it's necessary. After all, the hope is you won't need to think about Phase II at all! 🙂

Congratulations to everyone who has interviews! It must feel amazing. Still waiting in silence here. Maybe today will be the day?
 
Personal invite for Child and Family Guidance Center (Child Abuse Prevention, Trauma and Early Intervention Track) 12/3 for interviews between 12/9-12/20 & 1/6-1/28. Finally some good news!!!

I know they deal with a lot of ITP clients - I work for an agency that provides competency restoration classes to a lot of their clients. Good luck at the interview & with hearing back from the rest of your sites =)

Did anyone hear from Massachusetts Mental Health Center? According to their website, they are to send out notifications (both rejections and offers) by 12/3, i.e. today.

Generic email invitation to interview at University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Interview dates:
Monday 1/6
Friday 1/10
Monday 1/13
Friday 1/17
Tuesday 1/21(day after MLK holiday)
Friday 1/24

Also, another member of my program received an email invitation today to interview at SUNY Upstate Child Track. Several interview dates between Dec. and Jan.

Anyone heard from Fort Worth Independent School District (ISD) yet? They are supposed to notify today.

Waiting to receive an email the day of notification is really difficult! Surprise early rejections have been easier to handle.
