Congrats ! I applied there =(
Invited by email to interview on January 14th at FCC - Petersburg.
I am waiting on Purdue too...no word yet for meHas anyone heard from Purdue University CAPS?
Quite a few people have gotten weekend invites and rejections this year, from a variety of sites. So Do we have to wait till Monday or is there any possibility to receive an email Saturday and/or Sunday? hehe
Nope haven't heard from them. Also saw your post about Coatesville and I am also waiting for a confirmation.Any news from Hudson Valley yet? Either way?
I received an official rejection via attached pdf on Thursday 12/12 (afternoon) from Mendota--the name on email did not match the internship director's name.So I saw that Mendota Mental Health sent out invites, but I haven't heard from them. And they're not listed under the "rejections" category of the main list… I guess this means I should be expecting a rejection?
Thanks!Mindfulnessiszen, I just want to say I LOVE ur username...so great!!!
yes!!!Yikes, that's rough. Best of luck! Waiting on 6 over here (1 of which is a likely rejection). I've been trying to check the APPIC directory to see their notification dates but I keep getting a 404 file not found error. Anyone else having this issue?
I'm still waiting to hear from them and six others! I have 8 interviews and 6 rejections so far.Anyone hear from San Bernardino County?
Personalized email invite from New York City Children's Center - Queens Campus (I was worried as calls went out yesterday) 🙂
Mass rejection to Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital in San Diego![]()
Finally got my Durham rejection. They sent out invites almost a month ago.
I vote that ANYTIME someone on this thread quotes a statistic, they cite the source/post a link to it.
Does anyone know the date Utah State UCC was supposed to respond by? They have already contacted a group and conducted interviews, but I haven't heard anything back either way. I don't remember what their notification date was.
The 15th. I never heard from them either. My plan is to contact them on Monday or Tuesday. I'm guessing it's a rejection at this point, and I wish they would just send them close to the interview notifications so we're not left hanging.
Yeah, unless they're planning on sending out more invites, it seems kinda lame to stretch it out like this to the last day.The 15th. I never heard from them either. I am happy with my five interviews, but read a disturbing statistic that the average number of interviews for matched applicants was 9 and the average number of interviews for unmatched applicants was four. This seems odd to me since most people match to one of their top three ranked sites.
I can't find that particular statistic on the page. As I have post-interview brain fuzz, could you point me to where it is please?![]()

Ranked sites doesn't mean that they received interviews, though. I think that the 2011 data quoted above is more helpful (and reassuring)!
It's my understanding you could technically rank any site. What's more important is if the site in turn ranks you. I've heard of cases where students don't get interviews but they are told by the site to still rank them. But in general yes you want to rank sites you had interviews at the highestJust seeking clarification - we can only rank sites that we have interviewed at is that correct?
I was wondering if anyone knows of an airline or website that has flight to hawaii under 800 dollars. I just don't know if I can justify an in person interview for that much. And what's worse is it is only a 50 minute interview and a possible tour. It's really making me think a phone interview is the way to go...

well, its looking like I'm at a 52% likelihood of matching. i have one interview and one site to hear from. i also only had two interviews last year. the 52% last year resulted in no match. heres hoping I'm on the other side of the % this yearI think psychrat raises an interesting issue regarding the relationship between number of interviews and the chance of getting matched. In another post, psychrat posted the APPIC's 2013 match statistics as a source for this statistic.
Like Cara Susanna, I couldn't find that particular statistic among the 2013 statistics. But then I remembered that APPIC has a more detailed breakdown of match statistics from 2011 at http://www.appic.org/Match/MatchStatistics/ApplicantSurvey2011Part2.aspx . Number 13 (reproduced below) seems to be particularly relevant to this discussion. Unfortunately, these data are 3 years out of date, but they do appear to be the most recent available.
13. Number of interview offers received:
1 to 2 interviews Match rate = 52% n = 385
3 to 4 interviews Match rate = 69% n = 516
5 to 6 interviews Match rate = 85% n = 538
7 to 8 interviews Match rate = 92% n = 433
9 to 10 interviews Match rate = 95% n = 355
11 or more interviews Match rate = 99% n = 417
I couldn't find any comparison between the mean number of interviews that people who matched had versus people who did not match. I would predict that the mean number of interviews for people who do not match is lower than 4 since people with 3 to 4 interviews still matched about 70 percent of the time (at least in 2011). Based on the above data, your chances of matching start leveling off after 7 to 8 interviews, but more is definitely better. Anyway, considering that the overall match rate is about 75%, getting 5 interviews or more significantly increases your chances above that base rate. Whether this increases or reduces your anxiety will depend on your situation, but hopefully we all are going through this process with open eyes...
My guess is that for sites in Hawaii, phone interviews are the rule, not the exception. Obviously it depends on how many other interviews you have, but paying $800 plus for a flight not including other travel expenses for one 50 minute interview seems like quite a stretch. I've said it before but the fact that people feel pressured to spend that kind of money in this process is completely unfair and a social justice issue. I think all APPIC sites should be required to do phone or skype interviews to prevent people from getting in exactly this kind of situation.I was wondering if anyone knows of an airline or website that has flight to hawaii under 800 dollars. I just don't know if I can justify an in person interview for that much. And what's worse is it is only a 50 minute interview and a possible tour. Student Universe is putting me through the ringer right now. I just got invited to South Shore on the 7th (only gave me one date), and I have the open house for Didi Hirsch on the 6th (I'm interviewing in Maine on the 13th so that's the only option) so I'm changing flights around and suddenly a $250 fee appears. It's already exorbitantly expensive to fly into LAX. I'm killing my wallet right now and I hate this.Have you checked out student universe?
I'm in the same boat! Still waiting to hear from McLean.I see McLean sent out both interviews and rejections but I have not heard from them either way... Any one else in this boat?
Unless I'm missing something, looks like the total cost for the match process is going to be about $1600. That's better than I thought. Now if I start to bill for my time we are somewhere in the $20,000 range. I'll probably just invoice APA.
Wow, do you have a lot of phone interviews, is that why your costs are so low? The reason I ask is because it seems you have quite a few interviews (congrats btw!) 🙂 I don't know the total cost yet for me, but it's high.
Do you mind if I ask if it was from Albany or Buffalo?Mass email rejection from SUNY Upstate 12:54pm. NBD 🙂 I'm just ready for my one interview 😉
