2013-2014 APPIC (internship) interview thread

FYI... For those still waiting on the Jesse Brown VA in Chicago, I just checked their APPIC page, and the interview notification date is listed as 12/17. Not sure if the date was always the 17th (looks like the page was modified on 12/5), but at least now I know when the notification will likely arrive.
 
Still waiting on St. Luke's child track and Cambridge Health Alliance. Also, what's with the Institute for Child and Family Health letting us know about interview dates at a later time? This is making scheduling flights impossible. So frustrated...

There's a version of that by Postmodern Jukebox that is also on my list. Also Walk Off the Earth's version of Somebody That I Used to Know. Which feels weirdly appropriate, too, in its own way, for the rejections.

I believe that's what they updated (or one of the things). Good luck tomorrow! This is the last one I'm waiting on...

I'm still waiting on Cambridge Health Alliance as well... and two others. I did receive one interview offer today from Rogers Memorial Hospital. I heard that CHA had started notifying. Hoping it is on a rolling basis as they are finishing reviewing apps today. Has anyone actually received a rejection from there yet?

I haven't heard anything from Cambridge Health Alliance, Institute of Living (adult), The Village for Families and Children, or University of Houston- Clear Lake (notification date 12/19).

I received confirmation for Kaiser SD 12/5. Hope this helps.
 
Just want to reiterate the importance of not scheduling your top choice as a first interview. My first interview was so-so but they have gotten better with each site. It's so much easier to be yourself if you're not fumbling over how to explain an answer.

Also- remember to always have a good comeback. Example: If someone was to insult your overeating of seafood during lunch by saying, "The ocean called and they're running out of shrimp!", you might say.."oh yeah?! Well the jerk-store called and they're running out of you!" That ones good but also risky as it may be countered with, "Well you're their best seller!" The counter to that counter is not known.

Scratch that I just received a personalized rejection letter from The Village.
 
Has anyone who is interviewing at Southern Illinois University UCC received a friend request from them on Skype? I spoke with the director last Tuesday to schedule my interview and she said to look out for a friend request from them on Skype within the coming days. I have yet to receive anything and am starting to worry I might have missed it somehow.

Where did you hear that CHA has started contacting people and that they are finishing reviewing applications today? Their notification date was yesterday, which clearly hasn't played out... I am still waiting to hear back from them, and it seems that no one has heard from them yet..

I received one, but my interview is tomorrow...I'm not sure when it was sent.

I got PMs about it as I had posted that I was waiting to hear. One person received notification on Friday and someone else today, so that leads me to believe that are in the process of finishing reviewing things.

If I recall correctly, I believe the counter to that counter is, "Well, I slept with your wife!", though I don't think this move is generally advised.

I would be worried that APPIC accidentally submitted my application to the wrong site! Is the site number for The Guidance Center in Flagstaff close numerically to a site that you intended to apply to?
 
generic rejection (mass?) from henry ford health sciences center. Still waiting on 2 more.... arg! 😵
 
I haven't been paying attention to whether my rejections are personalized or not- most seem like mass emails. I had a string of nothing but acceptances at first, then weeks later rejections- so a nice balance. Rejections this week were for Philadelphia VA (recent APA accreditation must have skyrocketed applications received), Memphis VA, North Bronx Healthcare, Tripler AMC. But today I got an interview invite by phone to a site I already had an interview at. Realized I have invites for 2 tracks, held on separate days, which means 2 trips to same place. But not complaining 🙂

Four of my classmates here in AZ also got the same rejection email from them. I believe they're a part of the AZ Training Consortium, which I applied to, but did not specify that particular site.
 
Has anyone heard a rejection from Oregon State UCC? I know they have already sent out invitations, but wondering if anyone received rejections? I WOULD HATE if they waited till the 24 of December to tell us - "Hey so guess what, we are not interviewing you. Happy Holidays!"

I've heard nothing as well. I'm assuming it's a rejection... but I second this, "MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE, we have no interest in you!"

Has anyone received a rejection from Nassau or IOL? I'm sure I'm not getting an interview but it'd be nice to just get the rejection over with and focus on the interview I have.
 
Alright, call me weak but I couldn't stand it! I emailed those sites that had a 12/15 deadline to inquire about my status...I had two just hanging out, not responding either way. Does this make me weak, SDN? Hopefully this won't make me look like a pushy butthole but it was getting tedious!
