2013-2014 APPIC (internship) interview thread

Is anyone else still waiting on Alexian Brothers-Child and Adolescent track? That's the only I have left that had a December 15th notification date and it's driving me crazy! I mean I only emailed the TD yesterday, but I'm getting so impatient, just want this all over!
 
Anyone else waiting to hear from NYU-Bellevue and/or St. Luke's? I emailed both training directors this morning and still have not heard back.
 
still no word on Nassau. Anyone (aside from the much earlier invites) hear yet?

I caved in and emailed the TD this morning. Still no reply 😕 I am starting to get the urge to call them. Since they sent out their invites in November, I feel like it will be a rejection anyway. Where's the closure? I need it...😵
 
Does anybody know an applicant who was selected based on a phone interview in Phase I at a site that also conducts in-person interviews? I know Phase II is phone interviews only, so that doesn't count. In my head I just feel like phone interviews are almost automatically ruling you out as a candidate. Am I wrong?

Also, waiting on 2 sites- Mt. Sinai at least said there'd be a week delay. Other site is University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Thanks!
 
So, for those of you who have emailed TDs for programs you haven't heard from, what did you say?

Yes, a student in my program last year matched at a place where she interviewed via phone, despite that site interviewing most people in person. Of course, this is sample size N=1, but it has happened (and it was a highly respected, APA accredited site).
 
has anyone gotten a reply from Citrus Health Network? I saw a post earlier asking about it but no one had answered then. I sent them an email asking my application status and no reply so far.

I called one of my sites today and no one picked up. I don't think there's anything wrong in calling if they're pass the due date and not responding to emails.

Thanks researchgirl! That gives me so much hope. I have a couple of phone interviews so I'm hoping I still have a shot at those places 🙂

Not that u should take this as your reject but this is what I got this AM - I applied for CD/Adult though so maybe your outcome will be different …rec'vd this after I had sent a note basically saying …. lets get this over with where does this stand - stated much nicer but we are all feeling the same with these laggers - btw - interesting we have to have all documents in by certain day certain hour but not the same for sites??? difference in power perhaps continues ??


This letter is to inform you that our program completed offering interviews as of 12/15/13 for next year’s psychology pre-doctoral internship positions. As you know, internship positions are extremely competitive and we draw a large number of candidates applying to our site. Given the imbalance of candidates to available positions, we end up only interviewing a fraction of those individuals that apply to us. Although you were given strong consideration by our reviewers, ultimately, a number of other applicants appeared to be a better fit to our programs so we will not be extending an interview to you.

I kept mine brief. I mentioned I was an applicant interested in finding out about the status of my application. I ended with a sentence that indicated how I felt their site complemented my goals and that I was hoping for positive news. Even though I know my email does not change their decision, I felt it was an appropriate way to end my email. TD replied within 15 minutes.

I will most likely do the same except my voicemail will probably be tomorrow morning. Too busy of a day to squeeze in another call.

Has anyone received a date confirmation from Boston Children's Hospital or heard what their new January date is (their original invitation email had mentioned they would be adding a new interview date)?

I had requested the 12/20 date but was told it was full last week and was then confirmed for 1/6. I'm already going to be in Boston on 12/20 and am having a hard time moving other interviews (on the west coast) and travel to be there on 1/6. I realize this is coming up very soon, but by chance would anyone (perhaps a local Boston applicant) be able to switch from 12/20 to 1/6? Feel free to PM me. Just thought I would check since this group seems so supportive! Thanks so much.

I know someone who matched from a phone interview (and this person had several in-person interviews). However, this internship site was in a VERY remote location, so I assume many people did not attend the interview (or open house, whatever it was).

I'm waiting on them too. Not sure if the email address they provided for the DCT is accurate, as when I got confirmation of my application, it came from "[email protected]". If anyone has gotten an acceptance or a rejection, please PM or post what email address it came from. This is the last site I am waiting on, and it's kind of important since travel plans depend on it (whether I need to extend my trip to FL or not).

I got an interview there on Friday. The email was [email protected].
 
I received a reply from Citrus Heath Network last week. Generic email stating I was on the "wait list" and may receive an invite in the near future.
 
Has anyone heard from I Ola Lahu? Notification date on APPIC was 12/15. I emailed the training director this morning, but haven't heard anything back.

Nevermind. Just received a generic rejection that was evidently sent to the wrong email address first. That's a wrap on Hawaii for me :-( Oh well.
 
I think U of Houston Clear Lake is really going to wait till the 19th and UC Davis will wait till the 20th.

I just want to move on! LOL.

I had two sites unaccounted for - one site with the Dec 15 notification date, the other had that had the interview notification blank - I emailed them both expecting quick rejections. The Dec 15 site responded very quickly and stated my rejection must not have come through because I should have received it much earlier (thanks for that!). The second site, (San Jose State UCC) surprising because I think they conducted interviews Nov 26, said they were still reviewing some applications and I would be notified by the end of the week if I was NO LONGER under consideration. Confusing, but not the quick rejection I was expecting. Neither site seemed bothered or irritated by my following up at all.

I guess it's a good thing I haven't heard from San Jose? Maybe I'm still under consideration. I'm down with it.

Make sure you hit *67 when you call (unless you leave a voicemail), just in case they are sitting in their office and are just not picking up the phone because they are busy, you know, caller ID and all that! 😉

One of the sites I interviewed at last year had a current intern who was selected during Phase I based on a phone interview.

-called the TD this morning to find out - she said they called applicants selected for an interview over the weekend, but wouldn't be sending out rejection e-mails until sometime this week.

I emailed Bellevue yesterday...still no word...let me know if you hear something! I will let you know if I hear anything...
 
Is anyone else waiting on the University of Kentucky Counseling Center? The notification date is today, and I'm just getting antsy. :bang:

Has anyone received a confirmation of interview date for Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA? I need to schedule some other interviews and haven't heard a peep from them since the interview invite.

Nope - no confirmation for me either. Although they did say in the message to contact them by 12/20 with your response, so I'm thinking we'll hear after that. Doesn't make scheduling other interviews too fun though!
 
While we're asking about confirmations - anyone who is interviewing at the Louis Stokes VA (Cleveland VA) and requested a phone interview: have you heard back? Their message said to respond by 12/10, and we're about a week out from that and I haven't heard a peep...
 
I'm late posting this but, rejections from:

UCLA
UC Santa Cruz
UC Santa Barbara
Santa Clara University
San Jose State University

(obviously applying to a bunch of UCC programs with no college counseling experience was a bad idea)

I did get interviews at:

Access
California Pacific Medical Center
Anka Behavioral Health

Did anyone else hear from CPMC or Access? I'd love to get a sense of how many people on this thread applied to those two places.
