2013-2014 APPIC (internship) Phase II

Question: can anyone tell me how long the interviews for Joseph j peters (Immaculata), Shorehaven and Sullivan center for children lasted?
 
I spoke with the internship coordinator at UCLA, on behalf of a cohort member, and the coordinator said that they have extended all their interviews.

A cohort member spoke with someone at Brown this morning. She was told that candidates are being contacted for interviews this week, but that Brown does not plan on notifying those who will not be extended an invitation to interview.

Just wanted to pass this info along in case it helps anyone in their planning.
 
Has anyone gotten an invite to interview at Astor? I've seen that some rejections have gone out (I'm sorry!), but I haven't heard anything about invites.

I'm in the same boat, so no worries. I think if they had sent out invites at least ONE of us would have heard. Invites have to be going out soon - they're cutting it close!

I received a personalized email interview invite from Ohio Psychological Internship early last week.
 
Just curious to see how many interviews you all have in Phase II?

I have four and am thinking that might be it. I am still waiting to hear from several sites, but haven't heard a peep today, so am thinking maybe they sent them out (UVM, Bronx VA, Brown).

My spouse received an email to rank children's hospital clinic of Minnesota. She's also waiting on Children's Institute

Someone (ACT maybe?) reported getting a phone call from SIU a week ago.

I wish they would let us know either way. I want to start thinking about my rank order list, but would like to know if I am getting any more interviews first.

I just received a personalized e-mail from UVM to have a skype interview this week. The only one I have left to hear from is Children's Institute, Inc. but I got two today so it seems like maybe those last few sites are finally getting invites out. Good luck with your four sites--I hope you match this time! I feel very lucky to have 9 interviews but still reluctant to start feeling optimistic about my chances because I really thought I would match in Phase 1 with 4 interviews (7 tracks ranked) and was pretty devastated. Sooo ready for the 24th to know one way or another!

9??? Holy cow!! That's awesome. I got 2 interviews (3 tracks to rank). Waiting on the Children's institute as well. And maybe U of VM... if they are personalized.
 
Random question that probably has no concrete answer...

For Phase II-Does anyone know/gotten insight into how many applicants sites interview for each spot?

Well, I didn't ask during my interview, but I think the stats from last year's Phase II said that each position was ranked by and average of 9 point something applicants. So that, to me, means that sites tend to interview somewhere around 10 people for each position. Not sure how sound my logic is, given that going through this process a second time had fried my neurons. :wacky:
 
According to last year's phase II "Each Position Was Ranked by an Average of 9.8 Applicants." this suggest about 10 people per spot

Just had an interview over Skype with UCSD that lasted 10 minutes. It was like an interview on warp speed. So awkward! Anyone else experience this? Or did they just want to get rid of me asap?

10 minutes seems super short, what could they even ask in 10 min?

I've had three interviews so far, ranging from about 30-45 minutes each. However, they have all been pretty casual and more conversational then some of the more hardcore interviews I had in Phase I. It's been really nice actually! I did actually have a similar thought after one interview that "Oh wow, that was so short! I hope they weren't just trying to get rid of me because they decided I wasn't a good candidate!". My fiance had to convince me that I was being paranoid 🙂 If I had to guess, it seems the sites just want to have the phone interview to confirm we aren't completely void of interpersonal skills.

They basically said, "so tell us" and that was it. And then I had 10 minutes to just tell them why me? It was freaking weird. One of those interviews you have to laugh about or you'll cry I guess?

I had a similar experience with 2 sites. I think they are literally interviewing people back to back...That might be the style for that director this go around. I wouldn't over analyze. They called which means they are interested whether it was a structured 30-45, or a 10. Keep your head up!

As long as you said what you wanted to say, I think that is fine and you should not read too much into it. Maybe they are focusing more on paper than the 10 min interview.
 
I am so tempted to email the Bronx VA and see if they extended invites. They have three spots, so it seems unlikely that none of us would get an invite..
 
Has anyone actually interviewed for St. Louis Internship Psychology Consortium? They requested supplementals but I haven't heard anything since.
 
I was feeling pretty upbeat through the weekend, but after not getting anymore news today I'm finally starting to get anxious.
 
Due to geographic restraints, I applied 6 places in Phase II and received 3 interview invites. I had two interviews today, one last week, and believe I am now finished (no rejections received, but my other sites have extended interview invites). After one of my interviews today, I am considering not ranking one of the sites at all. It's an APPIC member, not APA accredited, and I am just not excited about it at all. But I also want to move on with my life. I read a lot of posts on the interview invite thread about people not being excited with where they matched - and I didn't understand because I would have been happy anywhere that I had ranked in Phase I. But that is not the case with one of my three options this phase. However, I do just want to get this behind me. Anyone else out there going through a similar dilemma?
