Has nobody been accepted to Albert Einstein MSTP? They have a pretty big program, but very silent on SDN for some reason.
As of last night, we had almost 560 applicants who had been offered at least one MD/PhD acceptance, and about 1060 have been rejected from all programs. That leaves about 210 applicants who are still within reach of a MD/PhD acceptance, but keep in mind that we expect about 620 positions plus 110 withdrawals after MD/PhD acceptance (currently ~10). By the end of this week, all programs (MD and MD/PhD) must offer at least the same number of acceptances as they intend to enroll. After that, is a slow "domino effect" from more desirable programs to other/less desirable programs. MD/PhD applicants must make decisions to single program by April 30 (or earlier April 15, if program begins earlier than July 30). Of interest is that for next year (2015 cycle), the deadline for making decisions for all programs is being pushed to April 30, but the turn around to make decisions will be shorten to minimum of 2 business days (if orientation begins within 30 days) or 5 business days.

These are stats for all of the MD/PhD programs utilizing AMCAS (i.e.: all MD/PhD programs in the USA).
Let's take a look at the final 2013 cycle MD/PhD stats (muddled because of the 9 students missing from Baylor MSTP; they were codified as MD students):
Total MD/PhD Applicants - 1891
Withdrew before acceptance - 17
Total rejections from MD/PhD programs - 1111
Total Applicants offered a MD/PhD acceptance - 763 (~40% of applicants)
Total Applicants offered at least one MD/PhD Acceptance - 763
Total Matriculants - 617 (including BCM MSTP)AMCAS participating schools:
Withdrew after MD/PhD acceptance - 118
Total Defer to later years - 25
Rescinded acceptance - 3

I think the rule says that if the 15th is a weekend then the actual deadline will be the following Monday. As of today (3/15), all AMCAS MD/PhD program must have extended at least the same number of acceptances as they expect to enroll.
Out of 1831 MD/PhD applicants, we are now at 590 applicants receiving MD/PhD offers and 1040 rejections. Please notice that there were ~60 less applicants than in 2013 cycle, however, due to funding climate, I only expect about 600 slots (down from 635 and 617 in 2012 and 2013, respectively).Out of the 1830 MD/PhD applicants, as of yesterday, we have a little over 1000 rejections (to all programs), 540 with at least one MD/PhD acceptance, and the rest as alternates or in other groups still being considered.
Sorry, but it is in the AMCAS for Admission Officers documents section. Here is the link (but I doubt you could open it): https://www.aamc.org/download/184946/data/md_phd_orientation_start_dates.pdf@Fencer thanks for the helpful information. I am having trouble finding the AAMC page that lists all the MD/PhD start dates. Could you post the link? Thanks!

The rule 4 reads:
"By March 30 of the matriculation year, March 15 for M.D.-Ph.D. programs, each school or program have issued a number of offers of acceptance at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and have reported those acceptance actions to the AAMC Section for Medical School Application Services."
For next cycle (2015), the rule will be March 15 for all programs (MD, MD/PhD, and others).
I hope that you are hearing unsubstantiated rumors. The truth should be that an "acceptance" is a real "acceptance" and not conditional. However, an acceptance can be rescinded "with cause". Cause could be that an applicant continues to hold another acceptance beyond the time that is told by the program AND is allowed by the rules.
The rule 5 reads:
"Prior to May 15 of the matriculation year (April 15 for schools whose first day of class is on or before July 30), April 30 for M.D.-Ph.D. programs, each school or program permit ALL applicants (except for EDP applicants) - including those to whom merit or other special scholarships have been awarded:
a. A minimum two-week time period for their response to the acceptance offer.Rule 6 reads:
b. To hold acceptance offers from any other schools or programs without penalty."
"After May 15 of the matriculation year (April 15 for schools whose first day of class is on or before July 30), April 30 for M.D.-Ph.D. programs, each school or program implement school-specific procedures for accepted applicants who, without adequate explanation, continue to hold one or more places at other schools or programs. These procedures:
a. May require applicants to:I have been very open with my accepted students. Open communication is critical. Our first day of class is prior to July 30, in fact, we matriculate as early as late May because we have a rotation before MS-1. The fact that we are an early matriculation program is information that is available on our website, and both the AAMC and the MD/PhD Admission Officers have lists of when all programs start. Thus, for us, after April 15, I talk to each of my accepted students and ask them to make decisions if they haven't done them yet. Keep in mind that we have a joint acceptance report so no bluffing is possible. Applicants must be aware that both (or all) schools could rescind the acceptances at that point. In my view, the changes to rule 6 that are to be implemented next year makes things clearer for both, applicants and admission officers.
1. Respond to acceptance offers in less than two weeks.b. Should recognize the problems of applicants with multiple acceptance offers, applicants who have not yet received an acceptance offer, and applicants who have not yet been informed about financial aid opportunities at schools to which they have been accepted.
2. Submit a statement of intent, a deposit, or both.
c. Should permit accepted applicants to remain on other schools' or programs' waiting lists and to withdraw if they later receive an acceptance offer from a preferred school or program.
Rule 6 will change next year to an April 30 deadline for all programs, but the amount of time has been codified to a minimum of 2 or 5 business days (rather than "less than two weeks" - see my prior post in another thread).
