I'm even more neurotic! The year before the first acceptances were received on 10/20. So hopefully we'll be finding out good news in a week give or a take a few days!
 
I really liked this school and the city when I visited, but I feel I may not get any OOS love. 🙁 Is downstate receptive to update/letters of interest?

Just curious, but why do you feel like you won't receive OOS love other than the stats that their class is mostly IS?
 
Hold for Spring Consideration by email today. :-( I'm really bummed about this one.

Email. I think someone posted earlier on the thread that in previous years waitlists/rejections come by email and acceptances come by snail mail. So if you get an email it's probably not a good thing.
 
Sorry to hear guys.. but never have I not wanted an email from Downstate so bad. The longer we don't get an email, the better our chances are. Now to frantically check the post..
 
Does anyone know what percentage of OOS students who are interviewed are accepted?
 
How is one supposed to maximize his chances of getting in after receiving a hold for spring consideration or wait list (both post-interview)? Are you expected to provide fall semester and/or spring semester grades even if not explicitly requested? Are they usually explicity requested in these cases at Downstate? send a LOI? thanks
 
Were there any news for anyone since Thursday? I can't wait already for the decisions🙁

Nothing yet... I'm also getting really anxious! At this point I'm hoping no news is good news since it seems they've emailed a bunch of the holds. Hopefully they've mailed out acceptances and they arrive within the next couple of days!!
 
So are we sure that acceptances come by snail mail? Ever time I check my email I'm unsure if I want there to be an email from Downstate or not... I have to know what to hope for!

no, you don't want an email from them. Acceptances come in snailmail - at least thats how they did it in previous years
 
It was just last year that they did that, but I'm apt to assume it will be the same for this year. Snail mail = acceptance, and waitlist/rejection come by email. Everyone anxious as hell, and it doesn't seem like a lot of people got waitlist/rejection email either.. only a few people. Acceptances on the other hand are probably in the mail now, on their way to the first lucky winners. Fingers crossed.

From the Downstate website:

"Following your interview, it might take as long as 4–6 weeks before you will be notified of your status post-interview. You will be notified of your admissions status by email."

it sounds like acceptances might be through email this year

You might be right. If that's the case, oddly surprising that no one has gotten acceptances yet, though some have heard of waitlist/rejections.
 
Maybe tomorrow?? That's what I tell myself every day
 
Oh great... now I have to neurotically check if the regular mail came yet too?

I feel like that's gonna be my life for the next few days: check email, run donwstairs to the mail, check email again, run downstairs again.... you know what? Maybe I'll just hang out in the lobby and refresh my email on my smartphone till the mail comes! 🙄
 
Nothing yet today. I think from now on I'll just check SDN. Then when I see someone get accepted I'll check my mail only afterward. Doesn't make sense for me to be so happy when the mail lady comes every day only to see me disappointed when nothing comes. :laugh:
 
I had my interview today. I was told by the Ilana in the admissions office that they let interviewees know by snail mail 6-8 weeks after the interview.

If anyone has any questions about the interview day, I'd be happy to answer them for you!

hey i'm interviewing at downstate next week. any advice?
 
The interview itself was pretty laid back. The interviewers ask questions that the ADCOM directs them to ask. If you go read the interview feedback on SDN for Downstate, you'll be well prepared to answer their questions.

Yes, the questions in the interview feedback are verbatim.

If you're OOS, be prepared to explain your ties to the city (or basically your interest for applying to downstate).
 
Any recent IIs for IS applicants? I've been complete since Aug but have not heard anything.
 
complete second week of september and no news yet. maybe they will start new round of II soon
 
No one else has received any news from Downstate? Not even rejections/waitlists? Surprising no one has reported being accepted yet.. last year and the year before, people received notification by this time. Not to mention superstorm Sandy last year should've delayed things. No excuse this year 🙂

Exactly what I was thinking. I figured we would know by the same time or earlier this year lol
 
Maybe they decided not to accept any SDNers this year... :scared:
 
Hi Guys! So I was wondering if everyone received a complete email after submitting their secondary? I submitted it on 10/05, and havn't received a complete email. On the supplemental site, it says my payment had been made. Does this mean it's complete and ready for review for ii?
 
Oh wow they already have decisions for 9/30? I thought its 4 weeks minimum wait time at downstate...

But seriously what is up with the no acceptances so far???

They're probably in the mail, or will be soon. If you've interviewed early and haven't gotten a hold or rejection, it's probably a good sign!

Being the first one...can you tell us your interview date, how you received the acceptance (email vs phone vs snail mail), and when you received? Thanks!

This was my first interview back in late September and I haven't heard back from my any of my interviewed schools yet so I'm biting my nails.
