2013-2014 Wake Forest Application Thread

You guys are just being too pessimistic. I've been complete since 7/22 as well. I'm just happy they finally started giving out interviews. I believe I have an above average profile, but I don't expect to ever be a school's TOP choice to interview. Whenever the first invites start going out, I believe I'm due for an interview a few weeks later. We have no clue how interview invites work anyway. For all we know, we could be sitting in a pile of files labeled as "Do Not Send Invitations Until 8/20/13"

Or we've been brushed aside into a "Send Rejection in April" pile.

With those two options, I prefer the first scenario 😎

I think certain reviewers may have gotten to their applications earlier and thus these initial interview invites were sent. When I scheduled my interview they told me that they interview starting September 3rd from Monday through Friday and that the whole month of September was open. This means there are a lot of slots that they haven't filled.

Oh wow that's a lot of interview slots. A healthy dose of patience is in order for the worriers. Our time will come eventually!
 
Just got the email that they are screening me now. Hope I pass this screen!
 
Anybody know how many people are interviewed versus how many acceptances they give?

Changed to

"Your application is complete. Interviews are by invitation from September to March.* If you are invited, you will receive a e-mail or phone call to schedule an interview."

Time to cross my fingers really, really hard.
 
If you don't mind me asking, what is your MCAT and GPA? Just wanting to see how we compare.

I got it this morning and didn't see it when I looked back a few pages in the thread!

I had this status, then I switched back to "Your application is complete. Interviews are by invitation from September to March. If you are invited, you will receive a e-mail or phone call to schedule an interview."

Congrats!!!! I submitted mine last night. They needed a letter from my graduate advisor stating I will have my graduate degree in hand before July 2014 before they would send the secondary. Did you hear via email or did you check your status?

Mine did the same - went from application is complete to under review to again back to complete, but I haven't heard anything for 4-5 days after that. Does this happen to everyone, or is it any indication of getting an interview in the future (like Baylor's status change).

via email. I am not an overly neurotic checker, I only checked like 3 times after submission and each time was different. I may have received it by status update first before the email.
 
II this morning too! What is the beast airport to fly into? I completed the secondary very early on, so was a little worried when they started sending out ii's last week.

A lot of people like to fly into the Greensboro airport. It's not as large as the nearby airport in Charlotte, but I believe it still offers a free shuttle service to the medical center if you don't want to rent a car.

OOS 31/3.8+

I heard 8000 apps, 600 interviews, 250 accepted.

I was complete on 7/22 and still nothing.. 🙁 looks like it's going to be a silent rejection

I also was complete on 7/22 and haven't heard anything. what were your stats like?
Mine are oos 32, 3.69 gpa with descent extracurricular.

I feel like it's to early to be silent rejected

This. I also haven't heard anything, but seriously it's the second week of August, this cycle still has a LONG way to go, it's way too early to assume you've been rejected anywhere unless they tell you explicitly.

I have a 3.6/34 with mediocre ECs and decent LORs. I'm maiy worried because people who were complete after us have already been accepted.

In my limited opinion, I would not be concerned with this yet. I have already received two interview invites from schools that had supposedly passed my completion date, and then gave me the invite a few days later. I do not believe the review experience is as linear as a simple line of completion dates (Though I am sure that is a factor to some degree).
 
that's not how wake operates. post-secondary they'll put applicants in tiered "pools" for interviews and offer interviews to the best students in their top pool. there are plenty of people from last years thread that received interviews 6-8 weeks after their complete date so don't worry too much.

👍 Thats what I like to hear. Honestly, I suspect most schools have this system or something similar. The way some people panic you'd think there is a conveyer belt with chronological submissions going by reviewers with a big red stamp that say "Interview Invite" or "Hold".

I find it helps to be optimistic. People hear back in November occasionally and a lot of people are not even complete yet. Take it as it comes, adapt to whatever happens, and keep the faith.

(This could also be the drowsiness form anesthesia coming through, lol)

Yea I'm trying to be optimistic but its hard. I applied to 30+ schools and broadly but have only 1 II so far.

A lot of people haven't even been verified yet. You are way ahead of the game. It is people like you that make me sometimes hate looking at this site.

Seriously though... if they finish reviewing your app and don't immediately give you an interview, that doesn't mean it's time to panic. it's wayyy early in the cycle.
 
How long did people have this status: "Your application is being reviewed. When the review is complete, you will be notified if there is a status change" before getting an II or the status about interviews occurring September-March (or whatever it says)?
 
So I have been holding on to this secondary for close to a month now, will it look bad if I complete it after a time period this long? or do you think they really care how long it takes you to send back the secondary? (I know everyone always says 2 weeks)

Their secondary is due 3 weeks from receiving it.
