2013 APPIC Internship Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Personalized email invitation to interview via telephone to Washington State University's counseling center. They offer numerous times on 12/13, 12/14, 12/17, 12/18, 12/19, and 12/20. We were asked to rank our top 3-4 interview choices and they will respond to us. 🙂 Hooray!! -HB

I got an invite too! I emailed them back straight away, but havent heard anything since then. I'm hoping they received it so I get one of my top interview times.

Generic email invite for Palo Alto VA! I applied to the NP and BMed tracks, but the invite was not track specific. Interviews are throughout January.

Was this email for all Devereux tracks? I'm trying to decide if I should hold out hope for an invite...

The invite for Devereux was unspecified...but I applied to the Kanner center (I/DD) and can't remember the other...

I haven't got hold of the admin assistant yet but I believe she knows which track I am interviewing for (Kanner) based on the voice mail she left me.

Thanks for the information!

Email invitation for an interview at Brigham Young University sent last Friday 12/7. Interview dates were Jan 16th, 23rd, 30th.

I haven't heard anything yet, either. It sounded like they might be trying to organize the master schedule before letting anyone know. It floored me that the first interview slot was in 3 days!! Yikes!! Best of luck to you!!

Best, HB

A thought for the list...... As we approach the 15th, more and more of our sites will finally respond back to us (hooray!). As there are hundreds of sites, this may quickly become unwieldy for the delightful nyprincess, who has so kindly donated her time and energy to keep the master lists up-to-date. What do you think about perhaps letting the lists go once the flood begins? The master lists have been immensely helpful, but I wonder if we can do without them once notifications begin in earnest? Just a thought...

and then maybe nyprincess can just post a normal post 1-2x a day with the invites/rejections that were pm'd to her. i'd be fine with that (i am so appreciate of her hard work overal!)

I know there is a master list....but where is it located at??

Thanks everyone

I was wondering if those who received an interview at UM/JMH could kindly post as soon as they call to schedule (this Friday morning) and let us know what days they are offering for interviews and if it is track-specific. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you!

So I decided to finally join the discussion after days and hours of checking the thread. No news today, which has kinda left me wondering if TD have lost my applications and/or e-mail address... I guess that is better than rejections!

Here is what I have heard (some of which has been posted to the master list):

Interviews:
Central Regional Hospital (Gero/Neuro Track) on 12/4 - 1/7, 1/10, 1/15, 1/18
Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) on 12/5 - 1/4, 1/11, 1/18
Robert J. Murney Clinic on 12/7 - 1/7 or 1/14

Rejections:
Henry Ford Health Science Center
Boise VAMC
U of Oklahoma HSC
Long Island Jewish Medical Center -The Zucker Hillside Hospital

I will keep updating everyone. Best of luck and happy thoughts to all!

Very nice personalized email invite to U of A Department of Medicine.

Personalized rejection from FCC Butner (knew that was coming!) 🙄

Welcome into the light 🙂 It's way better to participate than to lurk...good luck with the rest of the sites on your list!

Today seems like a slow day thus far :/.

This whole process has seemed so slow- so far I have 1 interview, 1 rejection and 14 sites left to hear from... Anyone else still have a ton of sites to hear from?
Dissertation cannot be done when I'm checking my email every two minutes.
Oh, dear...

:beat:

Still waiting to hear from 13... Although some of them have sent out invites, so I probably have some rejections headed my way.

Received Emory University Counseling Center and Miami University Counseling Center invites this afternoon. Miami of Ohio's was by phone and Emory U was email.

Miami University interview dates were Jan. 7-9 and Skype on the 10th
Emory University was Jan. 7, 8, 10, and 11th.

10 Interviews, 4 Rejections, and waiting on 11 more.

Which LIJ-ZHH track did you apply to? I am still waiting to hear from them... 🙁

Anyone hear from them yet? It was outlined in their brochure that we had to contact them by today to see if we received an interview

I am still waiting to hear from them too... I might call tomorrow.

Im super happy I'm not alone. It gets scary when other people seem to hear everything every week. Half of the sites I applied to were my "long shot" sites, so I expect to be rejected from most. I hope that we all hear good news, soon!

Ditto- I'm waiting on 16 sites. Three of them have notification deadlines after the 15th (12/20, 12/28, and 1/7), so I'll likely be waiting a while. And, since no invitation from Emory this afternoon, I'm guessing that an "unable to interview you" email is in my future...

Pressing forward with our chins up and heads held high. Almost there, guys! 5 more days (ish).

Best, HB

Not one but TWO (identical) non-personalized e-mail rejections from Miami Children's. I get, Miami. Thanks. 👎laugh:

I agree! It is about time we hear some good news... I am keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!

Rejection email sent out this afternoon... Too bad... The adolescent track was one of my top choices.

Generic email invite for Palo Alto VA! I applied to the NP and BMed tracks, but the invite was not track specific. Interviews are throughout January.

Congrats on this one! Several people in my program applied to this site, but not sure that anyone will tell me if they got an interview. It must be a great site!

Invite to Tulane University School of Medicine received today (Behavioral Medicine concentration). Interview date options are every Friday in January.

Rejection from Texas Children's. It was expected since invites went out a while back. I'm so glad I can read things on SDN first, I think it softens the blow a bit...

Here's hoping for at least one more interview out of the two sites I have left to hear from.

Yes, it really does soften the blow to know a rejection is likely coming, at least IMO.

Good luck! :luck:

Congratulations!!!!!!! Which track for Kings County? They extended their notification date...I really like that site
Thanks! It was for the Adult Track. They offered me dates on either 1/4 or 1/7 but indicated they'll be interviewing until mid to late January, I think. So there's still hope!

Personalized email rejection from Florida International University CC today at 3:30. Rejections seem to be my thing lately...

Congrats!! Was it personalized or general?

Good thing there's an "I" in the name of this school...because i"m guessing getting an FU rejection wouldn't sit well with most candidates...Sending you good vibes - hopefully the interviews will be pouring in later in the week!

:luck:

Received a personalized email invitation today from the Child & Family Guidance Center. You must call the administrative assistant to set up an interview time. It sounds like interviews will only last 1-1 1/2 hours, so these will not be all day affairs.

Oh, dear...

I have noticed spurts in responses and then quiet periods for myself. I am still waiting to hear back from 10 locations which can be very distracting as you said happy 🙂. I have interviews now with: Appalachian State University, Illinois State University, Texas Tech University, University of Central Florida, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Virginia Commonwealth University. The only rejection thus far is Texas A&M. I am very satisfied with my selections as they fit the criteria I am looking for in a training site.

Finally got some more BOP notifications:

Personalized email invitation to interview at FCC Terre Haute!

Personalized rejection email from FCC Petersburg (knew that was coming) and generic rejection email from FCC Butner.

I didn't even realize those were out...probably rejections for me. And apparently Broughton just sent out, so that's probably a rejection for me as well.

I assumed too quickly -- the Broughton email appears to have been sent out individually, so I did get invite there. But, received two rejections for Jesse Brown VA & Hines VA -- both in Chicago. I should've expected the "match" to not have been as great for those sites -- as my decision to apply there was heavily influenced by geographic location. Darn... I'm still in it for a couple "deep dish pizza" sites though. I 😍 Chicago. ; )
