The lakes are beautiful, and people tend to be healthier than other places I've lived (e.g., North Carolina) - I am always shocked by the number of people who bike or walk to work. I do some research in Mindfulness, so that is the only university-related stuff I know about (Davidson's lab is there, he's a big name in that field). Great beer, good cheese. Hope that helps!

Wisconsin is a beautiful state--if you like nature, outdoors, food, you'd enjoy it (it is kind of like the Massachusetts of the Midwest). Madison is a pretty college town. Good food, affordable, nice music/art/cultural scene for such a small city. Good Mexican food! And only a few hours away from Milwaukee and Chicago.

Thanks for the insights. What was the name of the woman who called you? I was so excited I completely glossed over that part 🙂 I can't even recognize it on their website, which worries me...hopefully she'll e-mail me. What date did you pick for your interview? I'm going January 16th.

2 Questions...

Did anyone apply for the McGuire VA Primary Care track? I re-submitted a cover letter for this after a rejection from the general psych track. The due date and expected notification were not provided in the announcement to re-apply.

Also has anyone heard from American University?

I am also waiting on American University. I saw they sent out invites but I saw nothing about rejections. I am also waiting on Virginia Tech (which they did send out rejections) and DC superior court. Just waiting....

Friday, 1/4/13 – 8:45 a.m.
Monday, 1/7/13 – 8:45 a.m. or 12:45 p.m.
Wednesday, 1/9/13 – 8:45 a.m. or 12:45 p.m.
Friday, 1/11/13 – 8:45 a.m.
Monday, 1/14/13 – 8:45 a.m. or 12:45 p.m.
Wednesday, 1/16/13 – 8:45 a.m. or 12:45 p.m.
Friday, 1/18/13 – 8:45 a.m.

Please note: interviews that start at 8:45 a.m. end at approximately 1p.m., and interviews that start at 12:45 p.m. end at approximately 5 p.m.

PsyDHokie, thank you and good luck. AU is a great site and the comraderie makes the program a great place to spend your internship year. For those of you like myself waiting on AU, from what I know anout them, I am confident they won't leave us hanging without either an invitation or rejection.

I've been getting some late night e-mails... as late as 9:30-ish (from the same time zone). I think sites are scrambling at this point. Also, I have 11 sites left and 4 of them have response dates for next week. So, you might still have some waiting to do - I know, no one wants to hear that at this point! I think we are all ready for this to be done with!

Thanks for the reassurace. 🙂

Half the sites I'm waiting are also in a different time zone (1-4 hours behind mine) so I'm thinking I may get emails right up until 9 or 10 pm. That's when I usually "stop" checking. (haha jk, I never stop checking)
 
I heard last yer some sites sent out emails at 1130 the night before the 15th in their own time zone. I also got an email at 530 am this week from a site in my time zone. I don't think time matters anymore

I wonder if they are setting up e-mail to be sent out at a specific time just to mess with our heads?

A friend of mine got an e-mail from a place at 2 am! (the sites time)

Amen. A horrible event like this has really put things into perspective for me.
Not only are my internship problems ultimately finite in comparison to the atrocities happening in our world, but our communities so desperately need passionate, educated and dedicated mental health professionals to offer prevention before tragedies like this, and hope and healing in the aftermath. In the face of this unspeakable event, I am so glad to have a sense of camaraderie with all of you brilliant, compassionate applicants. Together, we are going to serve as conduits of healing in our nation and our world- and I am so honored to be able to stand with all of you as we live out the calling placed on our lives.

Double check the site info, but I don't think that John dingell will notify us either way. There is an open house in January that all applicants are invited to, but no interviews.

Yes, I got an invite via generic email for the General track. I still haven't heard anything from Canandaigua VA. I think they don't notify people until 12/20.

Does the Detroit VA notify people?

I also received rejections from Hutchings Psychiatric Center and SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Generic email invite from Hudson Valley VA. Interview dates are 1/3, 1/10, and 1/17. The email said they would call to schedule next week.

Finally... this breaks my rejection streak!
 
Got a rejection from Central Cal Consortium, state center ccd. Generic email.

I am still waiting to hear from:

U northern Colorado
Uc Santa Cruz
Uc riverside
San bernardino county
USF ( San Fran, although I think their notification date it later)
U north Dakota
U Washington Seattle

And a few more that I am blanking on at the moment, since my list isn't in front of me.

On the bright side, I feel like I had a great interview with WSU today!!

Thats horrible. They need to have a better process for letting people know.

For the Detroit VA I was under the impression they will not be giving us feedback. I have two friends who did their internship there and they said they had no feedback prior to ranking. I'm applying there too, but I have an interview that conflicts with their open house. I also know Ann Arbor VA only does an open house. I applied there, but I don't know if they will be giving us feedback at all.

Do you know if it makes a diference if you attend the open house or not? I don't think i can attend but I really like the program
