Anyone else see the new Charting outcomes in the match for 2014? it's posted on nrmp. move previous before that was charting outcomes 2011......the numbers make it seem that the competitiveness has increased for sure, any thoughts? Kinda scary for folks like myself.... Link below.

Hey guys and gals, just came across this thread and thought I'd share what I have so far to add to the stats - VCU, Sinai (MD), Temple, Loma Linda, UCLA, Mayo. Applied to 30 programs. Definitely hoping to at least double this count to be safe(ish) according to the NRMP data!
Thanks. When did you get the VCU invite?
Pitt invitation today!
I mean I am applying this cycle, so take this with a grain of salt My understanding is that if you sign up and not show up = very bad. I heard some programs actually reach out to interviewee's med school to address the professionalism issue.
With that said, I don't know what you could do to decline interviews in a bad way. If I get lucky enough, then I will just send a short, one-liner, email saying that it was a honor to receive an interview invite but due to my circumstances, I need to decline their interview. That's just me... lolz.
Thank you so much for all the info and encouragement j4pac. I think you make many of us stay sane in this ridiculously chaotic process. By the way, how is life of a naval flight surgeon? Just curious... haha
UT San antonio and Rush today. Will edit later with dates.
San Antonio is one of the very few programs that have an excellent program attached to an excellent city. Don't be in a hurry to leave right after your interview...and come with a big appetite.
If I was applying to categoricals, I would have San Antonio and LSU very high on my list.
As of now I am crossing my fingers for Denver. I actually lived at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora as a kid. Fitzsimmons has since closed (apart of constant military skimming) and it has been replaced by a rehabilitation hospital. If I get an interview...I will get into that program.
Thanks, I'm from Texas originally so I've spent lots of time in San Antonio.
Also j4...I saw in one of your posts that you were counting Baylor Alliance as two interviews. This is the last year for it, but it really functions like one program for interview purposes...they're splitting up the alliance next year so this will be the last year that it has a joint interview process. I just didn't want you to count it as 2 interviews if you were looking for a certain number of interviews.
Denver would be awesome, but sadly for me I've heard that they don't take DOs.
It's shocking to me how a PM&R residency wouldn't consider strong DO candidates. In a field that cherishes treatment modalities...you would think that a strong DO candidate could be valuable. But hey...what do I know?
Thanks for the information. The number really doesn't matter so much to me. I know everyone is shooting for 10-12 because the probabilities are over 99% at that point. But I think that the study may be flawed. The type of applicant that is able to get that many interviews is likely a strong applicant to get in SOMEWHERE. And...I feel like I interview very strong. I run my own clinic and only have 8-10 coverage opportunities this match season. I am going to have to make the most of it.
As of right now I am at 7 (if you consider Baylor Alliance as one). I really only have one more easy coverage opportunity...then I am going to have to start doing some begging for a few more after that. I just feel blessed to be apart of the process. I have been out of med school going on four years. I have applied and interviewed at Walter Reed three times, only for Reed to rank me highly each time and the Navy not allow me to go. After years of being beaten down by the military match process it is flattering to get as many interviews that I have received.
Syracuse this morning!
MedStar/NRH!
I'm already running into scheduling issues...
