2014-2015 San Juan Bautista School of Medicine Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know it sucks but I think we just need to be patient. They don't interview a lot of OOS students so it may be that they spend the first couple of weeks of admissions decisions going over mostly their IS applicants. There is a lot of time ahead of us and unfortunately I think it behooves us to be prepared to wait through April for a decision because that's how long it can take.
last year they started releasing OOS acceptances in mid February. Jaymi told me probably 3rd week of January this year. You raised a good point maybe they are gonna review IS first and then OOS (i'm oos btw). Let's hope that'll be soon.

Yesterday was MLK day, so the school was closed. Call Jaymi today and ask if she sending out any emails later on?

I called her today but she wasn't there. They told me to call tomorrow but the lady on the phone told me the committee has not met for acceptances yet. She told me to call Jaymi tomorrow since she's the only one who knows when the committee will meet. :/

I hear they have started meeting but no word on if they have sent any acceptances yet. Seems consistent with what anyone else has heard. This thread has been kind of dead this year. I guess we are all just suffering silently. But I hope people let the rest of us know when they hear.

I interviewed in November and haven't heard anything yet.

It is very hard and each year gets even harder. Like always, hard work pays off. Impressive your determination and persistence. Go celebrate, you deserve it !!!!

Has anyone heard back that interviewed in November?

Does any OOS that has been accepted mind sharing their stats? Thank you and congrats to those accepted!

my gpa was 3.5 and my mcat was a 31. I don't know if it is of any value to know my scores, the mcat is toward the high end for sjb. don't let that phase you.

I got a 23 and was accepted, almost 4.0 gpa. I have a friend who interviewed with mcat lower than mine, also OOS. The key is to keep calling and calling Jaymie to show that you care. I will be withdrawing after being accepted at a school in mainland. Never give up hope!

Do you mind telling me the name of the other school you were accepted in that is in the mainland? My stats are very similar to yours

Gosh this wait is killing me. I keep login in to see if those interviewed in January have started receiving acceptances yet, but it doesn't seem like it.

Does anyone think it is worth applying if I have a 24 MCAT with a 5 in VR? I know that 5 is the min. I am OOS and have a GPA of 3.8. Also, I would consider EDP but I don't know if they would prefer only people with excellent stats.

Hey guys, do you want me to start an SJB Class of 2019 facebook page that way the incoming students can talk and get to know each other a little bit?

Your MCAT is great for SJBSOM, it doesn't matter if you are OOS. I got accepted last month with a 23 and a 5 in the VR. My friend recently interview with a 20 and 5 in the VR as well (she's also OOS). I would not recommend applying to the school EDP , the first round of acceptances are given in late January and by that time you can't apply to other schools.

are you from Miami?

Hey guys,
I created the Facebook page!

Type in the search bar: San Juan Bautista School of Medicine Class of 2019

Hopefully this works!

Thanks, I hope that's the case. I sent Miss Sanchez an email today asking her if my application had been reviewed yet. I'm just trying to get a good understanding of how they are reviewing applications. I want to know if they make groups based on date received or if it's based on MCAT and GPA score. Patterns I've noticed,by reading past posts, is that the committee meets on Fridays, and emails for interviews go out on Mondays. I don't think they'll start sending acceptance letters until January. So when you receive yours be sure to share the good news :)
what are your stats if you don't mind me asking?
