Hey guys, I know it's a little late but I was accepted on Friday, 5/21 from the HFS list.
Interviewed late March, HFS early May, and sent a letter of intent shortly after I was placed on it.

I had a question if you guys don't mind. I will be out of the country for most of July. Should I include an international phone number on the alternate form or should I just include my email and say that I always check my email and they should correspond with me via email? Thanks.

I'd include both the phone # & email, and just explain what you've said. I'd also maybe include a domestic phone # (perhaps a parent/partner/someone you trust) with an explanation that that person will pass the news on to you - better safe than sorry, and I don't know how likely they are to call an international number. I don't know if there's enough space on the form (can't remember what it looks like), but otherwise, you can also just include that info in an email to admissions.

Just accepted from HFS today! I was never on an alternate list. I got a phone call but missed it and had to call back. I'm currently holding a place at a different SUNY and need to decide if I want to stay in the city or not! Tough choice.

Looks like it since the couple people on here who where never put on alternate list with the rest of us were instead accepted... The question though is if they rejected people from the HFS list as well. If they did also reject, then alternate list is more just neutral news since it means you weren't high enough on the list for a flat out acceptance, but you made it through the last cut. People tend to not share when they are rejected, so it is possible that they cut out some people before forming the alternate list.

Naw, I did receive an email confirming their retrieval of my alternate response form. You are probably accepted. I've had a few friends who got emails about background checks and subsequently were offered positions in the days following.

Yea, I returned the slip on Tuesday and received their confirmation this afternoon. I'm sure they'll get to you soon enough. Besides, it's the HFS that's gotten all the action up to date.

I responded to the alternate list email saying that I want to withdraw from consideration and I still got the two login emails so it seems they sent them to everyone

Definitely does not mean you are accepted, its just the login so you can go to your checklist for getting all of the forms in.

Are you asking about the BLS? If so, they just want a copy of the card. It gets checked off on the list as soon as they get it.

First post. I interviewed December, HFS in Feb and Moved to Alternate List a few weeks ago. AMCAS application for 2016 cycle open up tomorrow. Do we just re-apply for the upcoming cycle?

If you are planning on just reapplying if you don't get into Downstate this cycle then yeah, I don't think there's any problem with submitting the app for the new cycle while still waiting to hear from Downstate. That is what I am doing. If you end up getting into Downstate later this summer, you will just have to withdraw your new app and the money will have been wasted. But better to be safe and plan for the worst.

I'm curious about this too.. Can you do everything online? I was previously CPR certified, can I get it renewed by just doing an online course?

You can definitely stay on the waitlist while simultaneously reapplying.

I'm not sure which link you're referring to, but from their accepted students requirements page:
"Copies (both sides) of the signed certification card should be submitted to Student Admissions by July 1, 2015.
Note: The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course is the only course accepted, as it is intended for those who provide health care to patients in a variety of settings."
