FYI to everyone here, if you are rejected MSTP at UMich, you must call the MD admissions office to remain in MD consideration if you are interested. I am feeling much better about my chances for MD there so I'm really glad this isn't the end of the line for me yet. Plus I am waiting on 13 more schools! Each rejection stings, but I'm hoping we'll all get some great news soon.

I wouldn't add UCSF unless you've gotten an official rejection. It takes some people months to get a secondary, so don't give up hope. Especially since you probably weren't verified until August (guessing from the submission date on your MDapps). It really hasn't been long enough to assume silent rejection.

I was verified 7/15, and got my UCSF secondary around 9/5. So they take their time.

I think in general yes but UCSF can take a while to do so. Some people didn't get their rejection until January.

Uh oh. In my Vanderbilt portal, the "Under Review" tab has kind of lost its color (like a light grey now, not dark grey or green) and does not have the message about being under review when I hover over it. Sounds like what @shh-pthway had a while back? Or actually, they did just tell me on Monday that my application was about to be reviewed... Maybe the loss of color just means that it is actually in the hands of the committee... Have you heard anything, shh-pthway?
Hopefully it will turn green soon, as this seemed to indicate an II for @Neuro_Guy! I think!

You're right I did notice that my "Under Review" tab turned green, and a couple days later I received the II from Vandy. I'm not sure how to interpret your change though. If you were told on Monday that your application was about to be reviewed, and you've already seen a change, I doubt it means they've reached a decision on your application already. That would be very quick. My application was in the "Under Review" phase for a while. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Maybe @shh-pthway can offer more insight. Good luck! Maybe the loss of color just means that it is actually in the hands of the committee... Have you heard anything, shh-pthway?

And Neuro, thanks for the wishful thinking Whatever the case, it's definitely best for me to not worry about it until anything happens! I was curious about whether you guys noticed any other changes, so I'm glad you both chimed in. I'll just stay positive until I have a reason to do otherwise... and then I'll find more reasons to be positive!

I have been talking a bit with the program directors over there which has been a huge honor, but I also realize that they may not be able to get over my MCAT score. I'll elaborate more on that later on if I get a few more invites to hopefully motivate others that it is possible! I know I'm a bit of an underdog in some ways this cycle So having help and support from you guys is a true gift! Thanks again!

(Neuro, thank you also for the congrats. CONGRATS to you again on the Vandy interview!!! I was so, so impressed when I went there last weekend. I knew they were a great school of course, but I was truly blown away by how in love I fell with it.)

I actually sent them an application update last week and they responded very nicely that they had added it to my pile. I like to think they wouldn't have done that if they had already decided to reject me!

MD/PhD programs do seem to be much slower than regular MD programs at reviewing apps. A few places I applied to won't even start reviewing until after the deadline. Don't give up hope!
