If you look at old threads, there are always a few people who are complete early but then hear news later in the cycle. Also, the status on your application page should change if they've made a final decision.

Oh my goodness. Wow. What is going on with today?! Gahhhh not at all the news I was hoping for today for everyone. Seriously, each of these institutions is missing out on some PHENOMENAL applicants. You have all been a complete joy to get to know on here, and I am pulling the very very very hardest I can for all of you! Hopefully this is just life playing one of those silly little games where it tests your patience a bit before things fall in to place. Each rejection completely sucks, but I keep trying to tell myself that it only takes one acceptance... maybe we'll all fall in love with a school that we never would have given a chance if not for some doors closing first. Of course, that doesn't always help it hurt less, so I'm so sorry for all of you today. I still have full faith in all of you and know you have already been successful and will be successful in the future!!

@ADW1994, I am so, so, so sorry, my friend. What a HORRIBLE day! It really makes me sad to hear about this for you. I know I probably can't say too much that will help at the moment, but hang in there. I'm so glad you have an interview next week and that they have seen how wonderful you are. I know other schools will soon, too. People who have applied in the past keep telling me that they always heard rejections first, which suck each and every time (and especially when it's a top choice, so I am feeling so sad for and with you today), but that doesn't mean anything about your future or your potential. You'll have an amazing career and look back at these schools and laugh because we all know what they are missing out on -- a wonderful person. Rooting extra hard for you, buddy!

Oh my goodness. Wow. What is going on with today?! Gahhhh not at all the news I was hoping for today for everyone. Seriously, each of these institutions is missing out on some PHENOMENAL applicants. You have all been a complete joy to get to know on here, and I am pulling the very very very hardest I can for all of you! Hopefully this is just life playing one of those silly little games where it tests your patience a bit before things fall in to place. Each rejection completely sucks, but I keep trying to tell myself that it only takes one acceptance... maybe we'll all fall in love with a school that we never would have given a chance if not for some doors closing first. Of course, that doesn't always help it hurt less, so I'm so sorry for all of you today. I still have full faith in all of you and know you have already been successful and will be successful in the future!!

Gahhhh rant over, lol. But it just makes me so sad to see all of the activity on here today. So just know that we as an SDN community are here for you and cheering for some much better news soon.

@ADW1994, I am so, so, so sorry, my friend. What a HORRIBLE day! It really makes me sad to hear about this for you. I know I probably can't say too much that will help at the moment, but hang in there. I'm so glad you have an interview next week and that they have seen how wonderful you are. I know other schools will soon, too. People who have applied in the past keep telling me that they always heard rejections first, which suck each and every time (and especially when it's a top choice, so I am feeling so sad for and with you today), but that doesn't mean anything about your future or your potential. You'll have an amazing career and look back at these schools and laugh because we all know what they are missing out on -- a wonderful person. Rooting extra hard for you, buddy!

I started by saying you only need ONE acceptance and thus, only ONE successful interview. I am not trying to freak people up... part of the process is self-reflection and choosing wisely a group of programs that match your skill-set with at least 3 safety. Many programs show the scores of people they invite. Each program is different, and might change over time. Some schools will be more strict with minimum Science GPA, below which is an automatic preliminary rejection, while others is MCAT score (or sub-score). All MD/PhD programs are looking for substantial biomedical research, but how that is defined varies.

I wish the best of luck to everyone. Being a clinician-scientist is an incredibly rewarding career.

The thread that matters most is the one to start with posts from applicants beginning on Oct. 15 when MD/PhD programs can begin giving acceptances...

Historically, about 42-43% of all MD/PhD applicants will receive an MD/PhD acceptance. As of Friday, we had 1568 MD/PhD applicants (final count should be close to 1900). Only 240 applicants had been given rejections to all their MD/PhD applications, which means that many programs have not made final dispositions for most applicants. In addition, only 18 applicants have withdrawn from consideration.
