Yep, interviewing on the 2nd! Looks like I'll be seeing you there. And you're killing it dude, I'm happy with my two IIs right now and how they're spaced apart (Sept 2 for UB, Sept 28 for Pitt).

Dude, Pitt is awesome!! and we've probably seen each other at UB before lol

Any current students on here who can talk about the program/interviews?

I am writing this in order to expose wrongdoings committed at a NYS medical school. My life has been significantly impacted by this issue. This is for all students, but especially for those considered to be minorities. It is highly personal, but I feel encouraged to be able to share this story with future doctors below:
It seems you've been through a lot, and I'm sorry you had to. I do have a couple of questions, as I'd like more details, if possible:

Were you the only person of color in your class to receive such treatment from the OME? If you were, might I ask how your pre-clinical and clinical grades were, and your letters of evaluations as well? If other members of the class (persons of color or not) also experienced the same treatment, where are they now?

The school would not grant me the complete number of years (6-7) required to achieve my career goal and placed me into a 1 year slot only.

I'm not a medical student yet, but from my understanding, once you've interviewed and ranked your programs of choice (and they ranked you), no one has any control over your match other than the ERAS algorithm. Does this^ statement imply what I think it implies - that UB somehow worked around ERAS and did things that led you to not match? Or are you saying that you had UB as your top choice program, and they did not rank you high enough for you to match there?

For those who got a complete e-mail, when did you submit?

I had everything in on 8/15 but I still haven't been marked as complete. My application status on the website also says I'm not complete yet either.
Took a couple of days before I received the complete e-mail, and that was in early July. I imagine they're going through more apps now, so just hang in there!

I got a "your application is complete" email both August 1oth and yesterday August 24th...any idea as to what that means?

Interesting, I did get those a while back too and mine were also 14 days apart.

The two e-mails are worded slightly differently. One is says "The Admissions Committee will evaluate your application as soon as possible. It is a random review process" and the other says "The Admissions Committee will evaluate your application anytime between now and March 31st."

I got the first complete e-mail 7/7, the second complete e-mail 7/21 (two weeks later), and an II e-mail 8/7 (two weeks after the second complete e-mail). I'm just speculating here, but maybe the second complete e-mail means they're getting to/are in the process of evaluating your app?

I think it might just be that they edited the text of their complete e-mail to be more clear. I only got the 2nd one and I was complete last week. So they probably sent the revised complete e-mail to those who already got the first one earlier.
That could be it, but I don't know, it sort of doesn't make sense to keep the first one after rewording it sometime in July and still send that out first to people complete in August, then correct it by sending the second one. But who knows

Anyone here interviewed yet? Mine's coming up soon and I'd like to know if I'm overpreparing, haha

Via portal? When were you complete? IS? And congrats!
I'll answer the first question - UB sends you an email with the subject "Interview Invitation at the University at Buffalo Medical School." I didn't check my portal when I got the II and didn't do so til two days later I think, so I don't know if it gets updated when you receive the II e-mail or later when you confirm you will be attending on the date they assigned.

Is it the same portal that you completed the secondary application through? When I log in through my secondary application portal, it takes me back to the secondary application.

Potentially crazy question time! I am interviewing at LECOM-Erie on 10/30. Worth sending an in-the-area e-mail to SUNY Buffalo? I mean, 2 months is kind of a while from now so there's a decent chance I will hear back from them (whether good news or bad) before that date anyway...but I also heard that the SUNYs go through the apps in a random order so I'm not sure which way to go. Leaning towards not sending one, I think my situation is a bit of a stretch but I'd love any input. Thanks y'all.

Where are you traveling from ?

I see a lot of you are posting your LizzyM, but I want to remind you guys that UB relies less on this than most other schools. Your experiences and motivations are very important, which creates a very diverse and multi-talented group of students. If you're dying to know about LMs, I know students with LM of mid 60's all the way to an 81. The average LizzyM in the class of 2018 is about a 72.

This is true. During interview day they told us our interviewers do not see our grades and MCAT scores, so they can form an impression based solely on our responses and how we conversed with them. I really appreciate them doing that.

Also, I think they did a good job of putting together our interview group for yesterday. Everyone was friendly and supportive, and I could see myself being classmates/friends with the people in my group.

Any current students how I could PM?

Hey you were in my interview group🙂

II invite 9/15. Application was complete 9/4 (thanks to my pre-health advisor dragging his feet with the committee letter....). cGPA: 3.87, MCAT:30, SES disadvantaged.

Did you get an email? Or did you check via portal?
