Anyone's portal still saying "secondary received" - does it ever go to "Complete" ?

I think the status remains that way until you either get an interview or get rejected.

It should go to "Complete." I had that for a while then when I got an II it updated to include my interview date. After attending my interview, it reverted back to "Complete"

So.. any answer on if we can use a Mac to submit the secondary? I'm tempted to just try.. but I don't want it to cause problems down the road. Thanks!

Used my iPhone to submit the secondary, didn't have any problems. Got an II, so I'm assuming they received my secondary.

II! Scheduled for 10/28 from cali 🙂

EEP same here! :soexcited: But as a public school, I am worried about OOS acceptances. Would anyone happen to know the class stats for that?

According to MSAR, the class of 2019 is 128 IS/16 OOS (3/1 for MD/PhD, if anyone is curious). These are matriculant numbers, not accepted students; I assume the numbers are much higher for that category.

Warning: this school LOVES to send out emails saying "You're Invited" to people affiliated with it inviting you to things other than medical school interviews. They do it about twice a week. Don't get your hopes up until you read the whole text of the email.

For the record, the subject for the II e-mail is "Interview Invitation at the University at Buffalo Medical School." That might have changed with the school's recent name change, though.

CONGRATS EVERYONE!

I myself was waitlisted. OOS though, so I'm not toooooo surprised. Hoping for some good news in the upcoming weeks!
care to share your stats? I am also OOS

how is everyone talking about a "portal"?! for me, I do not have a portal. whenever I log in, all i see is an option to re-submit my entire application. Like, it seems like one of those WuFoo pages, where you do not necessarily have an "account". Why is it like that.

Congrats to the accepted people 🙂 Buffalo seems like an awesome school.

I was WL as well, but it's not a rejection! I did get 2hr of sleep the night before my interview, so I wasn't quite 100% that day. On to the next ones!

LizzyM 71, non-trad, ORM. Anything else you'd like to know?
Someone a page back said that Buffalo puts more weight in things outside of stats, so I'd take this with a grain of salt.

Non-accept = reject if I'm remembering properly?

Not yet. But I took a screenshot of the status page for evidence. Lol

Congratulations!
if you dont mind me asking? why did you apply to both SUNY Buffalo and Harvard? was this a "safety school"?

I don't believe in having "safety" schools, if there's anything this process has taught me it's that med school admissions is so unpredictable and you can't bank on any one school to accept you.

I applied to UB because I have strong ties to the school and I really, really would like to attend there. I made a lot of connections there through the years, connections I'd like to keep, and the medical school is just getting better and better with all the changes occurring there. I was beyond ecstatic to get an II from UB. And as y'all can see from my MDApps, my stats aren't really up to par with Harvard's average/median accepted stats. I applied there because I was intrigued by their "flipped classroom" curriculum component and I thought hey, I (hopefully) am applying only once, so why not. To say the II from there was a surprise would be the biggest understatement - I still can't believe it. I really, honestly would be happy to attend any one of the schools I've interviewed at so far - I've said it once and I'll say it again, I'm just really happy to be considered.

I would suppose you have that magical "it" factor. I have always been wondering what it is... I wish you the best of luck on your Harvard decision email!

Thank you so much! I do have a very atypical background, and I guess that makes screeners/readers take a second look or something. But anyhoo, back to talking about Buffalo. Best of luck to everyone, and if anyone has questions about interviewing here, etc., let me know! I have med student friends here so I can ask them questions if anyone has any.

anyone get the email to pay yet?

Did anyone receive the email from Dr. Severin and GradAdmit?

I got an e-mail earlier today that my UBIT name and Person Number are available on GrAdmit already. I did go to UB for undergrad so I have an existing UBIT name and Person Number. I don't know if that changes things for everyone else waiting (if there are any).

As for the form and the deposit, I just sent that via mail and paid with a check, instead of waiting for the email regarding my Person Number.

EDIT: The e-mail I got also had a username and PIN for logging into GrAdmit. I logged in and confirmed my acceptance of my acceptance (I hope that makes sense), and the confirmation page gave my my UBIT name and Person Number (which I mentioned up there^ I already have from undergrad). The process might be different for those who did not attend UB; the e-mail from GrAdmit seems to imply that.

Anyone out there that interviewed 10/14?

Does anyone know the timeframe on hearing a decision post-interview from UB is? I vaguely remember Dr. Severin saying "hopefully by the end of next week" ?

My top choice school and the anticipation is killing me!

Waitlisted.
"The Wait list is a ranked list, and you are placed according to the final score you received after your interview. As more candidates are added to the list, your position may change. We will NOT be able to give you any further information regarding your ranking at this time"

Do we ever receive information on our ranking?

Also waitlisted. I don't know how much they could tell us about our position.
Do you remember them saying anything about how many people get waitlisted and what their chances are? Because I remember Dr. Severin saying that the chances were actually pretty good.

I wish I had recorded everything he said! I do remember him saying that he doesn't like instilling a false sense of hope, so if you really have no chance, you don't get waitlisted. So there's still hope... But I don't know the number of students waitlisted, or how many are ultimately accepted

Wait-listed... it's a longer waiting game 🙁

Were we told how many people in our interview group (I'm assuming you were also interviewed 10/14?) would receive direct acceptances?

So.
No one said anything about how many direct acceptances there are...
I checked last year's waitlist thread for UB, and 40 users posted about their waitlist status.
Out of those, at least 17 got accepted. (9 or 10 said they wanted to attend.)
If it's true that not too many people get waitlisted, then I think that a sample with a size of 40 is pretty representative.
That means that by June, almost half of the people on the waitlist get an acceptance.
I'm sure that many people who didn't get acceptances removed themselves from the waitlist anyways because they eventually got accepted elsewhere.
So, hey!
Smiles all around, people!
