I keep getting emails with sites extending their deadlines.... and I mean a lot of them ...any theories on this?

I was thinking the same thing-- my theory is they haven't gotten as many applications as they were hoping for??? *fingers crossed*

Just wanted to follow up that interview dates offered were first 3 Fridays of Jan (1/6, 1/13, 1/20)

I had phone interviews with the other 2 Air Force sites. Wanted to know if anybody else has any open house invites to those sites yet?
 
- UAB/BVAMC - Child Track - Mass email - invite received 11/16, interviews 12/9 and 12/12

Some of them hadn't updated their brochures in time it seems, but my guess is also that they would like to see more applications. Anyone else getting an itch to apply to just a few more sites whilst waiting?

Yup - just applied to two more that just got accredited per the late-breaking news. Gotta be choosy, though. It gets expensive after 15 apps.

In everyone's experiences...do sites (VAs) usually send out just one mass email per site/track? Or is there hope that they may send interview invites in waves or on different days?

In the email from the Seattle VA, they explicitly said they are still reviewing applications and sending out notifications, so definitely hope!

I was wondering the same thing. There are two sites from my list that have sent invites to others with no indication of sending them in waves and, this may be pessimistic, but I assume it will be a rejection.

I noticed that as well. I can't imagine sites aren't recieiving enough applications. I'm wondering if they aren't receiving the candidates they are looking for.

That was my thinking as well :/ I've decided that the programs should have to tell us all on the same day. Just get it over with, rip it off like a bandaid.
 
What you've done lately to cope with this crazy internship process

Well I couldn't sleep so I got up and started bleaching the mildew in our tub but I accidentally sprayed my foot and now everything smells like a pool.

Holy crap, Yumi1024, congratulations! Mad respect for having the mental capacity & stamina to make it navigate this crazy process right now--I can't imagine what the balancing act is like.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts--and/or those of any other grad student parents--about pregnancy & parenthood at all stages of the internship process. Feel free to message me! In the same boat! The cuddles are a great distraction! The sleep deprivation also helps- I can't finish a thought or a sentence so I never finish a worry either!

Today's the first day where I'm feeling (really) nervous about this. I've even received two invites (which is awesome, and I feel lucky), but somehow today I've been anxiously checking my email every few minutes. For nothing. I imagine it's because around now is when many sites to which I applied have sent out invitations to interview in the past, and I've seen on here that some of these sites have extended invitations, but not to me. Nonetheless, just wanted to share (and commiserate) with everyone on here, since you guys are going through the same thing. Good luck to everyone through the next few days/weeks!

It's comforting to hear others voice this anxiety! I haven't heard from any of my sites yet (though it looks like only one of my 18 has finished extending invites), and already I'm jumping ahead to Phase II planning mode. We'll all be okay. And also, this uncertainty really sucks. Sending positive vibes to all, in a big way.
