How long do the interview days usually last? I have an afternoon interview and it says it ends at 4:30 but my flight leaves at 6:25 so I'm hoping it ends early

I honestly feel like it varies. But just tell someone when you get there and if you have to leave a little early to catch your flight, they should be understanding of that (or even email beforehand).

Can anyone tell me about the clinical rotations? I know you can request to stay in the same place all year. If you don't request one of those places, will you switch off at random places all year or will you randomly get assigned to be at one place all year? Also it says on the website that there are sites for clinical rotations in rural areas but I'm not sure which ones. Any feedback would be appreciated!

So...

I submitted my primary Wednesday and got the secondary Thanksgiving day. I emailed admissions asking if I should even submit the secondary considering how late in the cycle I applied and my stats and all I received this morning was:

"Hello, the average MCAT score for 2016 is 511 and the GPA is 3.68. Our deadline is 12/1."

I was hoping they'd give me more insight than that since other schools will tell me if I should wait for next cycle.

I have A 507 MCAT and a 3.53 GPA.

OOS

Should I apply or save the money?

Thanks for the insight!

They basically gave you an answer indirectly. Wait for next cycle.

I had a little bit of a different experience lol. My interviewer was about 15 minutes late and then he spent several minutes reading my application before he called me into the office. The conversation I had with him went well enough, but it was clear that he didn't read my application (or confused me with another applicant). Because my interview started late, I ended late and it cut into the time I had to write my essay. The rest of the day went well. For those who get II's, make sure you ask the admissions office for a list of student hosts. That was the best experience of the weekend for me.

I think I must have had the same interviewer as you when I interviewed a few weeks ago. I've heard that if you can make it through an interview with him he gives good feedback! Other than his interview I absolutely loved the school and I'm hoping for the best!

So how many weeks is the turn around from Interview to decision? Thanks in advance!

im like week 9 post interview with no response. called admissions last week and they said ur app still needs to be reviewed by the committee. but some people hear back as soon as 3 weeks. its all due to this weird post interview review process they have where u app gets reviewed by lik 5 different ppl before its brought to committee. so depending on their speed ur app could get done quick or u can be like me and be stuck waiting :/

Question for people who've already interviewed -- How is the day scheduled? Faculty interview, ethics essay (??? 😵), group interview (whatever that is...?), etc...?
I'm interviewing this week and all this ambiguity is pre-med torture haha
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!! 🙂

Congrats to all those who got II's today!

Info session, then in random order sit in a class, break, ethics essay, and faculty interview, then lunch and a tour with a student interviewer

First of all the day is scheduled depending on if u are in the morning group or evening. IF you are in the am group then you have your faculty interview first then, group interview ,a tour then your ethics question. If you are in the am you do your group interview first, then tour ,do your faculty interview then ethical essay. ..

Group interview: you will be broken up to groups of 3-4 and placed with one MS1. This is very laid back and it will be very conversational. Here u can ask about school life/culture etc. You will be graded by the student interviewer out of 5 but this is mostly to weed out awkward /rude people.
Ps:I had a different style than my group members, they seemed to try and turn the casual convo into a professional interview. So if my interviewer asked what are they doing in their life right now they would spin into into why medicine etc. I was more conversational but be careful this is still a interview and will be graded so be respectful and professional.

Ethics question - this is a simple question for example if u saw a question for a exam while in the professors office during office hours would u tell her or not to get the easy point etc. Simple stuff like that nothing crazy about life and death.

It's different for everyone! It depends when your faculty interview and essay is scheduled. Some people completed their interview and essay early. They skipped the break and class and went home early. My interview was scheduled almost at the end of the day. Sometimes the interviewer may be running a little late too.

rejected today!

OOS
complete mid-September

best of luck everyone!

Im only an MS1 so I am not super educated on the subject but rotations are done on a lottery system and you submit your picks

Do you have any recommendations for what to bring to med school?

As an incoming student? Definitely check with your school for any specific requirements. Drexel requires an iPad, so be prepared to buy one if you matriculate here. Also be sure to have a functional laptop/desktop computer. I also suggest getting a stethoscope. I was told and I didn't need to buy one quite yet, but life would be easier if I had my own.

Im trying to think of other things, but I honestly can't think of many other med school or DUCOM related things. Most everything else it's totally up to you as to what you bring.

Drexel "gives" you an iPad. Really, they just give you money (that comes directly out of your tuition I'm sure), to buy the standard model, and you can use that money to buy whatever kind of iPad you want. But you aren't required to buy one yourself (outside of tuition costs).

Hopefully some decisions get made today on us September interviewees that have been tortured....fingers crossed

Oh really? Well, I can tell you that not me or a single one of my classmates were handed an ipad. Unless they're changing that for next year. Some schools do build it into the tuition, but I had to go to Best Buy to get mine.

I asked a first year when I was there. That is what he told me...maybe he was wrong? lol. My bad!

we might literally never hear

The past 6weeks of constant refreshing of email just pathetically passed by for us.. them playing us by telling us we'll hear back after 4 weeks.

4 weeks my bum

Unless he knows something I don't...lol
We were told to buy our own. The IT site says the same. They just tell you what specs it has to have before you buy it.

PS: I am also an MS1 at Drexel

So on Drexel's website it says, "Application updates are accepted only from students who have been invited for an interview and for those who have been interviewed and wait-listed."

Did anyone send pre-II updates? Have you received any news from them? II?

Where do you see that? This is what I see here: http://drexel.edu/medicine/Academics/MD-Program/MD-Program-Admissions/Application-Process/

UPDATES
Applicants may send a total of three updates through our application system. Items that may be sent include transcripts, resume/CV and an update letter. Once these items are uploaded, they may not be updated.

I sent a pre-II update and was offered an interview.
