Anyone else having problems logging into the site ???

ha ha ha I doubt it I just got completed couple a days ago so I doubt they would get around to me. But a person can dream right lolz.

UB will email u the II before ur status is updated on the application status, at least that was my experience

Are they receptive of in the area-ish updates?

For people who have interviewed, did you submit your 2x2 photo when you arrived at your interview? Hard finding a place that prints 2x2 photos.

For anyone that interviewed how was your experience? Was it intense or laid back? What did they have for lunch?

II this morning! LM ~70, decent ECs, reapplicant, complete approx 2 weeks ago

Congrats on the interview! Finally some more movement! May I ask if you are a reapplicant specifically to Buffalo?

Yes I am!
Very excited, UB is one of my top choices for program, location, cost, have some friends there, and definitely looking forward to learning more about the school.

Forgot to mention I am IS- not sure if this makes a difference for once people get an interview on the % chance of being accepted but it may have played some role in getting the II.

It's an amazing school with a lot of development to look forward to. I guarantee you will love interview day and the tour. Mr. Rosso is such a chill guy. They interview a decent amount of OOS people, at least for my interview half of them were OOS. Mostly from California though. Just relax and be yourself. Most of the interviewers including mine were very friendly, but there was one guy who said his interviewer grilled him from the start lol so be ready but I wouldn't stress too much.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll try to be ready just in case. And yeah definitely looking forward to meeting Mr. Rosso, the rest of the adcom&staff, and students

Mr rosso was the best!!! He was hilarious. i loved the school and the interviewers were so nice. Dr. Severin is awesome, they really really do evaluate people holistically. Good luck to everyone and don't be nervous, they really just want to get to know you and see if you would be a good fit for the school.

Lol he's a wonderful guy and certainly a character. According to the reapplicants, that's like his patented speech hahaha. Was one of the answers to his questions the Tau protein? :claps:

HAHAHAH yes tau! He cracked me up. He give such a performance. I have no clue how he keeps his energy up. One year we should tell all the answers to an interviewee and have them answer ALL his questions on the first ask, he would be so surprised.

Yayyyyy! Congratulations!! The first one is always the best lol. Can I ask when you were complete?
Thank you! I submitted the secondary in early July, but my committee letter wasn't marked as received until about 11 days ago.

Is it true that most interviewed applicants get waitlisted?

They waitlist everyone that they don't outright accept. Although a good friend on the committee said they will reject you if you get a very bad interview score (which is a 6, but I don't think that really happens too often). Otherwise, they accept or waitlist you. They also have a lot of waitlist movement and many of my friends were taken off of it and have done really well, so it's not as bad as being waitlisted at other schools.

So what's the deal with the new medical school building? The website currently says that it is opening in 2017, but it looks like that might not be true. How can we know if we should expect it in our time there?

I forgot many of the details, but when I interviewed here last cycle and assuming I was accepted for class of 2020, I would be moved to the new building in downtown buffalo when I am a MS2. So I guess that translates to accepted applicants of this cycle to be able to use the new building at the beginning of their first year. The new building would also accommodate the increase in class size from 140 to 180. But people have stated there are construction and funding issues that may delay the completion of the building. Either way, I'm sure you will be able to utilize the new building at some point. It's nice to have new resources, but you will still receive quality education here.

Got it, thanks! It looks fantastic according to the website!

Right now they are saying *maybe* by spring of 2018, but it is not certain. They still are not done building everything and I think it depends on how bad the winter is in buffalo. (That could set them back) So once they finish all the outsides, they still need to furnish and do the insides of ALL the buildings which will definitely take a lot of time. Then they need to enact policies and procedures (such as organization, cleaning schedules, maintenance, etc) for all of the buildings, which I expect will take time. I bet they have to hire many new employees as well as the maintenance team for the old buildings will continue to stay at the old buildings as south campus is not closing since dental, nursing, undergrad, etc have classes there.

I would bet it will be open by 2020 for sure, but anything sooner is up in the air. It likely will not be ready until 3/4th year for students enrolling this year.

However, the old buildings will not sacrifice the quality of education. The simulation center is wonderful and state of the art. Don't let the new school not being open in time deter you from going!

Thanks for the info! Are you a student here?
I'm curious as to why the website seems so certain about it, someone on this thread even said they announced at an interview that were boosting enrollment from 140 to 180 because they would have new facilities. Are they just being really optimistic?

I don't think it's a huge factor in deciding where to go, but new facilities and opportunities are always alluring 😉

Haha yes I know it is very alluring it is going to be incredible and beautiful! No I am not a student, but I have family members that are highly connected in the building process and with members of the board. It was suppose to be open years ago, but they had to keep pushing it back. Right now they are just hoping and being optimistic, but things always take way longer to actually come to fruition than planned lol.

Did anyone get a completed email but online the portal sautes says you arent completed???

II today 🙂 (OOS, LizzyM = 73)

I'm reading through the threads for interview insight, but if anyone wants to share I would appreciate it. It looks like there's a small writing prompt before lunch.
