Just got an II! Lizzy score 66.2 and complete 10/19. For those who have interviewed, how was it and any advice? Is it one-on-one or is it a panel or MMI?

One on one. It was fun. Interviewer was super nice and they gave a tour of the school after with two current students and then a lunch/q and a. Depending on the group your in you might have the tour first. You should enjoy it if your interviewer is anything like mine was.

Thank you! How long was it if I may ask?

The interview itself was like 45 min and it can be 30-an hour I think. The whole thing probably went on for about 4. I don't really remember the exact time but people may have talked about this earlier in the thread.

When did you get scheduled?? I was just told I would be scheduled soon...

They emailed me on Wednesday saying my interview had been scheduled for the 17th. And that I should confirm it and please try to make this date because rescheduling is difficult.

That's just not going to work at all Lol
I already made plans at this point for January because less than one month notice is so obnoxious

I was lucky enough to have scheduled my other interviews around that date so I'm free. But I too felt it was a little presumptuous not to at least get like 2 or 3 date options. I would email them right away and tell them it's just not enough notice and say you have something scheduled then already.

I interviewed in early October and I was also just given a date to attend about a month in advance. It seems that's just how Downstate schedules interviews.

Downstate is pretty receptive/helpful when it comes to the application process. All you have to do is ask! Also, no system is perfect. Again, if you're unsure about an e-mail or there is any confusion, admissions is more than happy to help. Just try to believe in the process everyone. Downstate is a good school.

Downstate normally hands out iis til like mid march. It's a really long cycle and if you haven't heard anything yet, don't be discouraged

Update: the acceptance email was a mistake. For some reason, they failed to notify me about the error. To anyone who gets an acceptance email: call and verify that you've actually been accepted, we really can't trust these *****s at all.

That's so messed up...wth

They hold their applicants to such high standards. Idk how they could make that kind of mistake

Having said that, umiami sent me an interview invite instead of a secondary st the beginning of the cycle

That is absolutely vile. It's insane that they made such an error, let alone failing to report it to you.

Did you ever get an acceptance letter in the mail?

That's pretty shocking

Wow, that's completely unacceptable. So glad this wasn't your first choice. I would have felt so sick if it had been your only acceptance and they pulled this. They should have accepted you during the phone call honestly, this looks so bad for the school.

I just looked up the Comfort Inn that is close to the school and apparently it's permanently closed...

Where did people stay before the interview?

That's pretty egregious. How long did you say it's been since being accepted and finding out it was a mistake? What if this was your top school and you withdrew your other apps. Were they extremely apologetic?

They sent me the waitlist email 9 or 10 days after the acceptance email. I immediately emailed them to ask what was going on, and they responded to that email about 5 days later (I'll give them a break on that delay though because they were probably out of the office for the holidays). I really have no idea what I would have done if I'd withdrawn from other schools, there would almost certainly be lawyers involved though, I definitely wouldn't let an unorganized admissions staff member ruin my entire career

They apologized, but I wouldn't say they were extremely apologetic, and their "apology" email was actually pretty confusing.

Yea for sure. They have an obligation to have a credible process. If this somehow had impacted your cycle negatively I'm sure you would have a case.

Wow, that's pretty bad. They really needed to just accept you at that point to save face. I'd probably make a complaint to the higher up administration, just because you're not going there doesn't mean that's ok to do.. I wonder if you're the only one 🙁

Yeah I should probably let someone higher up know. I sure as hell hope I'm the only one!

Has anybody mailed in their health forms in yet ? Or did you guys fax them?

Screw them honestly. If I were you I would have called them and really let them have it, but then again you don't want to proceed to rashly especially in the middle of the cycle. But still though, that is some straight up bull, Man do I feel for you.

Thanks my friend, I appreciate it

so these mistake happen pretty frequently. my friend's sister was a pre-med/pre-dent student. harvard med was her first choice and columbia dental was her second choice...she was rejected after interviewing Harvard and got accepted to columbia dental. Four years later she bumped into the interviewer from Harvard med at some national conference. The interviewer was surprised and curious why she didn't go to Harvard Med. Long story short...they later on found out that it was because an administrative staff put her name on the wrong list when they sent out the acceptance letters. So instead of giving her an acceptance letter, she got a rejected letter. One dumb mistake from someone she didn't even know changed her whole life...

Hey FYI for anyone who received the email three weeks ago about confirming interest in an "interview after Jan. 15," I just called the office to follow up and they said it could mean you're scheduled for an interview any time from Jan. 15 through APRIL. She said they will notify us one month before the scheduled date, but it could literally be for four months from now 🙁

Have any other people who interviewed mid-November or after received their decision? I'm past the six week mark now and getting worried

I interviewed the 29th of November and still nothing yet. I called at 4 week mark and they said no decision has been made.

I interviewed in September and haven't received a decision yet, so don't hold your breath.
