Today's interviewees were told we would hear back by the week ending in Feb 24th but it would "likely be sooner", so I have zero idea how to interpret that!
24th is a friday so probably that it'll come sooner in that week. on jan 23 we were told by 2/10 but people have heard back today apparently
Oh nice so maybe it'll be the Monday of that week instead! That would be nice24th is a friday so probably that it'll come sooner in that week. on jan 23 we were told by 2/10 but people have heard back today apparently

dont stress yet, its only monday.. and only 13:46 eastern... lol. keep the faith and you'll get it!
I got my acceptance email at 6pm CST (7pm EST) so I wouldn't worry that they only do mornings because that's not true from my experience!!
I had fun! It all went by so fast, especially the MMI's. I got such a cool interviewer, and I'm hoping for the best!
Do you remember the date you got the email on? Or if there were multiple waves of acceptances on that day?I got my acceptance email at 6pm CST (7pm EST) so I wouldn't worry that they only do mornings because that's not true from my experience!!
I got my acceptance on 12/2 and all the emails seemed to be sent out at the same time (around noon PST). It seems like all waves are sent out at the same time in one day. From the past precedent, it appears acceptances come first, WLs in the next few days.Do you remember the date you got the email on? Or if there were multiple waves of acceptances on that day?
Thanks! Although I just now saw that in mid December it seems like someone got their acceptance at 4:45 and someone else at 6, all on the same day. I guess we'll see. Well, unless they specified they got it at that time, that's not necessarily true. Keep in mind a) timezones- people don't always keep them in mind when reporting and b) I personally didn't report on SDN until hours after my acceptance and never clarified to anyone (sorry too excited) that I'd gotten it with everyone else, just failed to report until I'd let everyone IRL know first. Thanks! Has anyone else (SDN) from January heard back or is it just the one acceptance that we know of so far?

January 20th. Was told (on interview day) that I would hear back by February 10th, "but likely way before then". So make of that what you will lol.

Does Wayne send a follow up email with your next steps after the first acceptance email? Or did they tell you what to do next in the mailed letter?Well, unless they specified they got it at that time, that's not necessarily true. Keep in mind a) timezones- people don't always keep them in mind when reporting and b) I personally didn't report on SDN until hours after my acceptance and never clarified to anyone (sorry too excited) that I'd gotten it with everyone else, just failed to report until I'd let everyone IRL know first.
Thats what it sounds like. But everyone I personally know hasn't heard anything. I'm also a Wayne State student. So from what I understand, if we didn't hear back today, we got waitlisted?
I'm still curious to see if anyone from 1/20 heard back. Doesn't seem like it among those on SDNThats what it sounds like. But everyone I personally know hasn't heard anything. I'm also a Wayne State student.

Thanks for the info. It just seems weird to me that all these people havent heard back, and only two people on here got acceptances. They couldnt have waitlisted everybody.. could they? Lol
Well they do waitlist a LOT of people..... chances of coming off it are higher than most schools, though. Thanks for the info. It just seems weird to me that all these people havent heard back, and only two people on here got acceptances. They couldnt have waitlisted everybody.. could they? Lol
isnt it possible they looked at the 1/23 people before the 1/20 people due to the availability of interviewers to meet on this particular day to review apps?Well they do waitlist a LOT of people..... chances of coming off it are higher than most schools, though.
When'd you interview? So from what I understand, if we didn't hear back today, we got waitlisted?
That's what I was thinking. I interviewed on 1/20 and it seems (at least on sdn) that none of us have heard back. The two acceptances are from 1/23 on here. We will just have to wait and see. Best of luck to everyone!isnt it possible they looked at the 1/23 people before the 1/20 people due to the availability of interviewers to meet on this particular day to review apps?

I interviewed on the 23rd. So the fact that the two acceptances were the same day as me is upsetting. Im very happy for those individuals, but its not looking good for myself. Which is weird because i thought i did really well at the interview. When'd you interview?
Thank you for your insight and contribution. It's great to have feedback from current students.
Do you have any negative experiences with Wayne? If so, what are they and how can incoming students address them?
Also, are you a MI resident? If so, did you have to choose between OUWB and Wayne? WSU is my number 1, but I am still not 100% decided.
I'm from OOS but I can tell you just by looking at geography that OUWB is a brand new school far from the Detroit population, the most vulnerable urban population probably in the U.S. Detroit has the highest poverty rate and one of the highest uninsured rates in the country of any major urban center. Learning clinical skills with this population is the single greatest draw that Wayne has in my opinion. I can't think of many reasons to pass up this population and the clinical opportunities it provides. Wayne also has the established professional networks and infrastructure for research, summer internships, etc., which is something OUWB will simply need time to develop.
Thank you for the input. Do you find the big class size advantageous in any way? I went to Wayne for undergrad and most of my classes were huge so we never get the individualized attention/resources and everyone was doing their own thing without much feedback from professors. It'd be great if you can elaborate on positives/negatives of WSU SOM class size in relation to class activities/group study/research opportunities, etc.
In my opinion, benefits to Wayne having the largest single campus medical school involves the large alumni network and the quality student-run programs. Wayne has the 3rd highest number of physicians practicing in the country of any medical school, let alone the number of physicians who completed post-grad training in the DMC or Henry Ford systems. I'm from OOS and considering completing training outside the state, so networking outside of MI is important and a large nation-wide alumni network is a big benefit. Having a lot of students also means a larger talent pool, better division of labor and so better quality and quantity of programs. For example, Wayne has over 75 clinical opportuntites students can participate (some are annual events, many are weekly/monthly clinical opportunities like community clinics, etc.), which is way more than the average medical school with 400 students total can offer. Of the clinical experiences I've had with student-run clinics, they've been very well organized primarily because they have more students who are willing to help out and a larger talent pool.
Even though there are 290 students/class only about 10-20% come to class regularly, so just about every lecture I attend is me, the professor and 30-50 students - not too bad. For labs, PBLs, mentoring and clinical skills you are broken down into groups of 6-12 (depending on the activity) and the groups are consistent throughout the year, so I feel that I still get the intimate learning experience as well. One of my big fears coming to Wayne was the large class size and it hasn't been a problem for me - more of an asset so far in my training (yet I'm only a lowly M1, so what the hell do I know?).

+1 here. Just trying to stay positive

Congrats!!! That's awesome!Accepted today via email. Interviewed Jan. 23rd
Do you mind me asking when you received the email? Also LM score?

Thanks!
For those waiting from 1/20, I just spoke with an irl friend whose not on sdn and she received an acceptance email this am sometime before 8 PST.
I guess the wait list is calling my name. For those waiting from 1/20, I just spoke with an irl friend whose not on sdn and she received an acceptance email this am sometime before 8 PST.
So under the assumption that those of us left from 1/20-1/23 are waitlisted, will we be told/can we find out where we rank on the waitlist?

But it's important to keep in mind their waitlist can move really quickly.

If you use gmail, check your promotions tab. That's where my acceptance email went when I was accepted back in December.

Who knows. But it seems like the pattern is they give out acceptances one day and then waitlist emails trickle throughout the week. But it's closer to the end of the cycle so they may be meeting more than once a month and maybe they will send out more acceptances. I'm hoping they do.I guess this means they're not giving out more acceptances on Friday?
Called admissions and they are estimating about 60 interviewers for the last round to be sent out mid-Feb.
Has anyone received a pre- interview rejection?
Welp, let's hope that all 60 go out to all of us freaking out on SDN 🙂Called admissions and they are estimating about 60 interviewers for the last round to be sent out mid-Feb.
Did anyone get accepted off the waitlist yet? Or are they not going to accept anyone from the waitlist until they offer all the acceptances to people who won't be waitlisted?
I got in off the waitlist earlier in the cycle. Waitlisted in October, admitted in November. There are a few of us on here admitted off the waitlist I believe.Did anyone get accepted off the waitlist yet? If you haven't received an II yet, it does look like you've been rejected. They do snail mail pre-II rejections, supposedly so you'll get a letter probably soon.
However! If its post-II, then don't assume that!! There's been some speculation here that they reject post-II immediately, but that's probably for just the really off the wall candidates who they know they'll never accept. Likely no more than 1% of all interviewees. Whats more likely is you'll be waitlisted, which is not a death sentence at Wayne- almost everyone gets waitlisted and most acceptances are pulled from the waitlist.
Huh? Are you sure about that?

I feel like your case only happens if the person who interviewed you was unable to show up to the initial following committee meeting. I feel like for most people: if you're waitlisted, you're waiting until April.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
