Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back after the interviews? I forgot to ask about it.
 
II about 2 weeks ago, but I won’t be attending because I got into an instate school. Just sent in the email to cancel (2/28). I hope one of you gets it!
 
anyone know when they send out financial aid packages? i was accepted several months ago but want to see if they give me any money first before withdrawing my acceptance
 
I’m also wondering about this I just got waitlisted yesterday and it had that second note saying I was rated high but they don’t have as many seats and they end up taking a third of the waitlist. It seemed kind of personalized but idk

Can confirm that they told us at the interview just this past week that they anticipate moving through the top 1/3 of waitlist into the middle 1/3, and that it happens almost every year.

Hope this helps. They did not mention really anything about timeline of financial aid/rewards however.
 
Any recent updates? I interviewed last month and haven't heard back yet.

Could not tell you when II are coming out (pretty sure it is not random though just based on this thread), but I can tell you that they had mentioned they will be interviewing every Tuesday/Wednesday for the rest of their interview session (into March - no exact date). About 8-10 applicants per interview session is common. Do not know how far they have already scheduled out for interviews though.

Dang ok. I’ve been complete since mid August and IS. They don’t accept updates which I had some major ones. The lady at admissions said they interview through the end of March I believe.

Have you tried contacting them about updates?
 
So the site says they are done interviewing March 1st and I called a while back and she said def will go wil the end of march. Seem they are a little behind and there hasnt been much action here lately.

I’m interviewing March 6, so they are still interviewing. I got the invite January 16

I believe it takes roughly 5-6 weeks before you hear anything. They try to meet about your application (Post-interview) within two weeks. But I think they've been backed up all cycle, so it's more like 4 weeks and then it takes a really long time in snail mail to get to you. I'm IS and it took >10 days from post-mark.

Looks like it took most people 4 weeks to hear back earlier in this thread prior to the holidays (including the extra couple days it took to receive the snail mail). Then after new years it jumped to around 6 weeks.
 
Hey gang, current M3 at BSOM who's busy procrastinating studying for a shelf exam. I did admissions committee last year and have conducted a few interviews this year, so feel free to ask any questions (either here or via DM) about admissions, the curriculum (I'm fairly familiar with the new one although admittedly not totally familiar as I was the last participant the true "legacy" curriculum), the area, the vibe, or anything else. I chose this school as an OOS applicant because I enjoyed the interview that much, so please hit me up with anything you might be curious about! Stay strong fam.

Why dont they take updates? I had some pretty significant ones but their site said they dont take them 🙁. Also how is the city? Is there a lot to do or does it have more of a small town/small city feel?

I'm not sure why they say that on the website. Probably because they don't want hundreds of minor, random letters from people by default. HOWEVER, if you feel that you have a significant update that would affect your application, I would get in contact with Teresa Rickey in the admissions office. She's a very nice lady and if you reach out to her directly, she might be willing to hear your case. If I see her today, I could also ask about updates, in general. I mainly did interviews on admissions and didn't sit in full committee much (although I did so some subcommittee stuff).

As far as the city (cities?) go, it sort of depends. For your first 20 months, you'll be at the medical school on WSU's campus 99% of the time. Fairborn/Beavercreek is a pretty stock middle-class suburban area, so there's all the restaurant chains and mall stores you could need. A lot of people live in Beavercreek/Fairborn area for their preclinicals to be closer to the school. For clerkships, a lot of us moved closer to downtown Dayton. I live next door to the Oregon district, which has a Portlandia, hipster vibe to it with a ton of cool bars and yummy restaurants. Nearby is UD, which I'm not totally familiar with, but I know there's at least one main street with more food and bars. I went out downtown a lot in M2 year, and I'd say it's pretty fun. It's no Big Ten-style college town like Columbus, but it's entertaining enough. Plus you're an hour from Cincinnati or Columbus if those are more your style.

I'm not from Ohio originally, but those are my impressions of the area. You'll be busy enough to where you won't necessarily need a million different entertaining things to do every week, but I think it's a nice enough area.

I enjoyed my interview as well! I felt that BSOM was the only school that my interviews were almost completely conversational rather than a Q and A session. They let me advocate for myself as well and talk extensively about my community service activities.

Does being from OOS and not having any ties to Ohio have any impact on your application post interview? If you felt that your interviews went well are there any major reasons that an applicant would be waitlisted or rejected post interview?

Hi, I will be interviewing there the first week of March. I have heard the interviews are pretty conversational, but are they blind interviews? Or do they have different focuses (i.e. one is academic in nature and one is personal)? Also, when would I find out who I am interviewing with? I am staying with a community physician who is a friend of my family’s and she was asking who I was interviewing with because she might know them. Thanks

They are both by people who have read your application through. It is very conversational about your application and your road here. You learn who you are interviewing with once you get there.

It's open file but they don't really focus on your academics. I mostly talked about my family, hobbies, interests in community service, and life in general.

I interviewed Jan 30th and received a letter today stating that I was on the waitlist. Included in that letter was another letter stating that I was "strongly recommended by the committee" and that I am "very high on our waitlist". It explained that a letter will be sent in April indicating waitlist positions.

Got a letter too but it doesn't even say waitlist. It says "After reviewing your application the Admissions Committee rated your application and recommends that you remain on an alternate list at this time" and "By mid-May, we will be in a better position to judge how many places remain available in the entering Class of 2018."

Also I didn't receive a second "very high on our waitlist" letter. So I'm in the unranked "alternate list" instead of the "waitlist"... 🙁

Alternate list and waitlist are the same thing, people just use the term waitlist more frequently

I know they are the same thing, but the letters they received actually says they were ranked "very high on our waitlist." They scored high enough on their application to be ranked already, but not straight accepted. For Wright State waitlist = ranked list.

From reading previous years threads, since my letter only says alternate list that means I'm still unranked and I could end up in low/mid waitlist or even rejected come May.

The extra letter did state that they normally move through at least the top third of their waitlist/alternate list every year. It also mentioned that they "have reached the point in our admissions cycle when we offer fewer acceptances" so be prepared for those of you who have yet to interview.

Looks like we received completely different letters. I didn't think interviewing 1/30 was *that* late though where they waitlist most people. I'm wondering if people actually got rejected post interview or they just threw everyone on the waitlist that wasn't accepted.

What dates were your letters postmarked? Trying to figure out how long my decision will take to get to me.
