Plenty of rejections as well but wanted to throw this one in the pot. Canada has a universal notification date where everyone finds out about all of the sites on the same day so this blog has been a life-saver for camaraderie around the U.S. sites - thank you.

That's horrible! A major F up on the emailers' part for sure, I doubt anywhere would do that intentionally. I'm sorry :/

I just finished it as well! Enjoyed it with my Thai food! I need to watch some Christmas hallmark movies but we don’t have cable +pity+:shrug:

Yep received a heart pounding inducing email just now with an apology from the TD. I honestly was hoping it was a whoops we do want to interview you after all! Email instead 🤔
 
I'm trying to book some travel and running into a dilemma. I really don't want to book a rental car in a city with excellent public transportation, but I also don't want to stay two nights when the interview ends early afternoon. What is one to do with one's luggage if they check out of their hotel room before the interview and don't have a rental car?

Nah, I gave that up hours ago. Procrastinating from a bigger nightmare, actually. Can't go into detail, really. So, I'll just whine vaguely, lol.

Some hotels may have a room for you to hold your luggage after check out. Maybe give a few a call? We left some luggage in a Mexico hotel for a few hours after checkout once...I would hope other hotels here also have something similar....

E-mail the TD. We have had applicants leaving shortly after the interview bring their luggage and we just keep it in a locked, or supervised holding area. Happens all of the time. Also, don't mention the MBTI on interviews. Unless that site also believes in acupuncture, that the eye movements in EMDR do anything at all, or that emotional support animals are great, then they may love it 🙂

Some hotels will let you check your luggage even if you check out of the hotel.

I've been wondering about this too. One of my sites said they'd have a secure place for us to store luggage there. I imagine many sites may offer this option given that they expect us to be leaving that same day. Might be something to check with the coordinator about.
 
There were a couple of sites on my maybe I should apply here list with deadlines coming up on December 1st. I'm wondering if I should apply or not.

I'd love to get a couple more interviews at sites I am genuinely interested in (if I were to be that lucky), but the thought of trying to squeeze in travel to a couple more places that are very far from me in the middle of winter on probably 1 of 3 dates that all the sites seem to like is daunting. I know I'm making a lot of hopeful assumptions here, and I'm not super sure about shelling out whatever the APPIC over-15 applications fee is to apply to these sites. I also totally lost internship steam after I submitted the first round. Don't mind me, just manufacturing problems over here.

Many hotels will let you store your luggage at the desk after you check out. It would add an extra step to go back to get it post interview, but it is always an option! My mentor also confirmed tiffanymary, in that most sites will have places to store your luggage.

Thank you for sharing this! Although this is not one of my sites, it has been one of the most comforting things to know that interviews are *still* being sent out for preferred sites 🙂

I have come to realize I’m just not competitive. With 11 sites left, I’m already acknowledging rejection. The Cleveland VA was an excellent fit for my research and clinical stuff. This just isn’t going to go well for me. Oh well.

Was it from the number listed for the TD on APPIC? This is a new M.O. for him, it would appear from previous years' threads.
