2018-2019 APPIC Internship Interview Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is anyone scheduled for UT Knoxville UCC willing to switch to Tue. Jan 16 12:30 - 4:15? By the time I got scheduled it was the only available date and I totally forgot that's the week I open a musical (#selfcare) so I'm trying to avoid missing rehearsal.

My preferred slot would be Fri., Jan. 12 8:30 am - 12:15 pm, but I could do Tue. Jan. 9 or Thur. Jan 11 as well. They seemed really open to doing Skype or phone or interviews but I'd love to go in person if possible.
(Is there a thread for this specifically? I could've sworn I saw one but maybe the stress is making me delirious).

For those who did not receive the rejection email from Duke CAPS, had anyone heard from them regarding invites?

Also... I can’t believe we have to wait until Tuesday to even think about sending an email for UPenn interviews !

I know! Re: Penn ...
Also: know anyone who has heard anything from these CC's? : American University, Florida International, Johns Hopkins, and Towson?

Or... (wishful thinking on my part) maybe they could "admire" that we are resourceful and a supportive community to one another
Plus it's all legal and respectful free speech 🙂

I think it puts the pressure on the sites when we all know. Real talk haha - the interview process favors sites and there isn't a lot of transparency. This forum adds some level of transparency. Yasss to the #forumfam :soexcited:

But for real, y'all, we're all bomb AF. I think it's only fair that TD's know what they're getting with us.

1. Are there any websites that have either formal or informal descriptions or evaluations of internship sites from people that have worked as interns there? Basically, an "inside scoop"?
2. Also, I'm curious if AAPIC ever thought about requiring all participating internship sites to notify all applicants on the same date so that people could make informed decisions about scheduling interviews? Just a thought...

I would also like to know the answer to #1. I've heard wildly differing experiences from interns at the same site, and I'd be really curious to hear how people's experiences stack up against what we hear and see in interviews and brochures.

If we're offering suggestions on how to make this process slightly less hellish, why can't all sites have their interview dates posted ahead of time? 1/3 of my sites didn't have theirs listed which made scheduling and trying to coordinate travel extremely difficult. I get they might not know the dates in like August, but they've got to know at some point, and Greg could include those updates in those late-breaking emails he sends. That'd be way more helpful than saying interviews will be offered "in December and January." Cool. That's brand new information.

"Cool. That's brand new information". Dayum, slaney! You're on fire! :flame:

I have been waiting for #1 for years...

-Full Site Name: University of San Francisco, CAPS

-Date of Notification: 12/9
-How You Were Notified: email
-If & How You’re Staying Sane: going to dinner with a friend

Completely irrelevant to your post but your username make me want to watch me some Bollywood. Rahul and Anjali <3

Has anyone here heard from Southern Louisiana Internship Consortium or Howard University? It seems like the forums from the past years don't include a lot about those sites.

First interview this week and I haven't started prepping yet. Unless watching 4 seasons of The Great British Bake Off counts as prepping. Does it?!? Please tell me it does. :owle:
Haha, of course it does! Self care is important! 😉

At this point I am feeling disappointed:

-Nova University: Rejection
-Miami Dade County: Rejection
-Jackson Health System: Rejection
-Nicklaus Children Hospital: Rejection
-Goodman Psychological Services Center: Invite

Still waiting for sites but ruminating as I applied to sites only in the Miami area because I have children and much more here....Once I received the first four rejections I realized that I made a big mistake and then began looking for site outside of the city and outside the state as well, but it was late as all the good sites were already close. Last weekend I applied to Houston UT Health-General track and to San Antonio UTHealth as well. I also applied to University of Nevada-Las Vegas! I wonder if one of you have received something from these sites? I am hopeful as it was actually incredible to find open sites that were APA-accredited. However, I still feel like ......because of the rejections. I thought I was a good candidate and now I certainly sureI am not.
I feel you. I'm REALLY trying not to play the game of comparisons, but it's so difficult when others in my cohort have twice as many interviews already, and sites I thought were a sure fit have rejected me. Hang in there. We've still got some time.

I've seen you and another poster earlier mention UT San Antonio. If you guys are referring to UTHSCSA, their application due date was just on Friday, so I wouldn't be surprised if they took til close to or until their published notification date to notify.

. Oops, replied to the wrong comment. This was intended to be a reply to the comment that the comment I actually replied to was a reply to. 😛 That was a wildly convoluted sentence... Good luck deciphering. 😛

Trying this again: any forum fam folks gonna be at the Durham VAMC tomorrow (12/12)? If so, give me a nudge. I’ll be the one talking about my kids and trying to pull off a Banana Republic blazer with Ann Taylor pants like they’re meant for each other. #hotmess
