Ooh, this brings up a question I would like some input on! So...patterns are probably not the safest bet, I'm figuring, but for under suit jackets, is pretty much any non-absurd colored shirt considered suitable? (pun definitely intended 😛 ) Also, for women, should it have a collar or not neccesarily?
Well if we're going the interview outfit route, does anyone have thoughts on forensic interviews and potentially having different color pieces? Like would a black blazer work with gray slacks? Or should I go classic and match them? Also, someone in my cohort mentioned wearing looser slacks...but loose slacks are NOT a good look for me. I tend to go for a snug fit around the top (er, bottom) and just a straight leg. Am I overthinking this? lol
On a somewhat clothing related note, how do y’all plan on carrying your stuff? Lady clothes don’t have big enough pockets for a massive phone. I’m planning to bring a portfolio and my cell/keys/id. I don’t really want to haul a bag around. Any ideas?
YES!!! Love this, and completely agree. Whatever makes you feel like a badass boss lady (or man), is the thing to wear. So long as all your parts are covered and stuff.I would probably go with a matching suit rather than mixing and matching (although either is probably fine).
I've also heard about wearing looser slacks, but they don't look great on me either. I bought my suit yesterday and the slacks were definitely tighter than I've heard one should wear them. But I'm going to go for it - I figure it's better to feel comfortable nad happy with how you look.
I’m literally incapable of existing without a giant bag that has anything you could ever need (and things no one would ever need, including wood glue which I carried around for a couple months...long story), so I’m bringing a professional looking tote bag with me.On a somewhat clothing related note, how do y’all plan on carrying your stuff? I haven’t heard anything from them yet. Neither has a friend of mine.I know this was asked by someone a few days ago but wanted to check again...anyone hear from Cleveland VA or know of anyone who did (rejection or acceptance)? Their notification date was supposed to be the 22nd.

Anyone know about skirt vs pant suits- is one better?
I normally carry a bag like this, but I’m a little worried about what to do with it when touring places. Maybe I’m just overly nervous about being awkward.I will be using an over-the-shoulder briefcase for my interviews.
Our DCT said either is fine, but to go with what you are most comfortable wearing.Anyone know about skirt vs pant suits- is one better?

Awkward? I'd probably just follow the interviewer's lead. If they prompt me to leave my belongings in the room during the tour, I likely will. If they tell me to bring my stuff, I'll do that.I normally carry a bag like this, but I’m a little worried about what to do with it when touring places. Thanks I guess I can count that in the rejection pile then!♀️Yeah, my roommate got notified of her interview there last Friday
Okay ladies, I've had two sites (in the northern parts of the country) suggest bringing a pair of walking shoes for taking tours. Not sure how to navigate that... obviously don't want to actually carry around a 2nd pair of shoes all day but also don't want to spend all day walking in the ice/snow in my pumps. Anyone else have thoughts on this??

I'm kind of angry we have to worry this much about what to wear/bring and how we'll be perceived at all. Why can't it just be that we look polished enough, washed and dried our hair, don't smell, brush our teeth and think about the stuff we're going to say for our interviews and whether or not we are a good fit!? Why society, why!?!?!?!??!??!😵

I usually wear some sleek, classy-looking ankle boots with low heels (I actually bought them for grad school interviews!). The added benefit is that if you're interviewing in cold places they are much less freezing than other options.
I don't even think this hard about what I wear on a date! Maybe that explains why I'm single (ish)?

I'd bring 'em. Also, if they're asking you to bring ice-ready walking shoes, they will probably have planned for you to leave them (and your big puffy coat?) somewhere when you don't need them.
My question is for my UCC womxn out there. How formal are you going? I'll tell you right now I don't think I can wear ALL black, and any suggestions on the formality of attire? Pants/skirt and blazer, or is a dressy top sufficient? Suffice it to say I DON'T dress like this on a regular basis and am struggling to not have my own personal "flair", but also to know what is appropriate "flair" for these settings. #livingwhilefem

Hold up is that like...we won't interview you because we got others or is it like you're so awesome we don't need to interview you so rank us?
This is like the epitome of wanting to have your cake and eat it, too. No thanks.Definitely the latter:
"Our policy is to invite a relatively small number of applicants to Oklahoma for personal interviews. We have selected the names of the individuals we plan to invite. [<<my favorite line] Although you were not on the list to be invited for an interview, we still remain interested in your application and you are under consideration for a position here. In the past, we have selected interns for positions here whom we never invited for a visit, so please continue to keep our program in mind as a potential internship placement. We hope you will rank our program on your ranking list to the national Matching Service..."
According to my DCT this is allowed, however, not recommended.

Do you have curly hair?! The implicit panic in that post perfectly captures the curly hair struggle.Wait, you're telling me I have to wash AND dry my hair too?! This is TOO MUCH.
But in all seriousness, I've been obsession about how to best style my hair and what products I might need to pack and do they even have travel sized products that I like because I can't check my bag in and what might the climate be like and what if it rains that day or I don't have time to wash it after getting off the plane.
You know, normal stuff.

No interview, but rank us. What a weird... weird concept.![]()

Oh you know it! I love my curly hair but I hate it in moments like these.

I'm trying to imagine what one would have to come in looking like/wearing to get a note in their file that's like: BEWARE. THIS APPLICANT ARRIVED IN [insert item of clothing]. DO NOT ACCEPT. Monkey onesie? Dressed as Batman? Suit made entirely of latex?
Hahah I knew it! Y’all will love this: I switched to a concealer stick instead of a liquid concealer and found some hand sanitizing wipes to replace my hand sanitizer to have more room in my quart-sized liquids bag for hair products. I’m prepared to do the same with other beauty products so I can ensure adequate hair product space. #thestruggle

You'd be surprised. Some people are ridiculous af and will immediately downgrade a person because their shoes have a scuff or their fingernails are uneven.I'm trying to imagine what one would have to come in looking like/wearing to get a note in their file that's like: BEWARE.
