And for those who are still waiting, hang on! We were told by mid-July we’d start hearing back anyway. Plus I saw on one post that someone didn’t hear back until August 1! So there is still time!

Missed a call from a CDC HR Generalist with no voicemail. About 24 hours later I got a call from another person from HR letting me know I should receive my email the next day and wanted to confirm they had the correct email address. I told her that I had actually missed the original call and did not get a chance to speak with anyone regarding my hiring status. She was super helpful and gave me all the information she had (that I had been selected, my host site location, the next steps, etc). My host site location is Richmond, Va, let me know if any of you are there as well!

Hello everyone. I was contacted yesterday evening around 4pm. HR says I should receive offer letter sometime today. Is anybody else placed in Nebraska? I did not select this as my area of consideration. I have enjoyed reading all post.

Still waiting here as well. With each placement post, I am happy for the person receiving some sort of resolution regarding their future because that provides hope. At the same time, it heightens my sense of any minute now. All those still waiting stay encouraged

Hi Everyone! Long time lurker, but first time posting. I received a call yesterday around 4PM PST for a placement in Show Low, AZ. The West Coast was my first choice preference, however the placement location is a bit inconvenient to move to at this moment because of some factors at home. I haven't yet received the confirmation email, but once I do, I will most likely reject the position unfortunately. But hopefully, one of you lucky and hard working individuals can take the position and really make a difference.

The lady who called me was named Erica. She told me that once I received the email, I would have about 2-3 days to accept the position which is a very short time period. Just a heads up to others waiting for the call! It's been a really long, yet exciting journey with you all and wish everyone the best. Congrats <3

Grateful to have received the call today (770 number) for placement in Carson City, NV (first choice region). To folks who have accepted their positions and submitted the necessary documents, did the PHAP folks call or email to confirm that they've received your transcript? I can check whether the transcript was sent or not via my university's website but don't see any way to confirm that the folks at CDC have received it on theirs.

I didn’t receive notification that they received the transcript but once I received an email regarding the next steps for onboarding, I have assumed that they received it (hopefully at least lol)

Hi fellow PHAP fellows! Congratulations on being placed. I am based in Atlanta and have been placed in Nebraska. Unfortunately due to personal reasons its quite difficult for me to make the move.
1) HR isn't helping, is there ANYTHING that can be done about reloacting?
2) If I decline will it affect future fellowship/ job prospects at the CDC?
3) I only have 24 hours, is it realistic to accept for now and hope that something changes in the next few months?

No I still haven't received an email yet. I received the phone call last Thursday. I called HR today and they said give them a few more days. Hopefully we get an email soon!

Thanks! I got the call last Tuesday and called last Friday to ask. HR told me they are lagging and are trying to send out emails by this week. I'm getting anxious though because the anticipation is killing me lol!

I asked HR and they pretty much said no, you get what you're offered and that's it. I've decided to accept mine since it's a great opportunity and only a couple years if you end up hating the location - at least it would open doors. Good luck to you!

Are there any other folks out there with MPHs/advanced degrees who have applied? I'm curious why other folks with master's degrees decided to go the PHAP route.

I have an MPH (graduated in May) but I’m not sure about the question you’re asking.

The PHAP is still one of the best ways to get into the CDC and the public health career in general. Does that help?
