here's hoping stuff starts to speed up after today lol
Last year I submitted on August 23rd and got verified in literally 60 hours. This year seems way off though it seems lie they're going 1 day at a time. I submitted July 20th this time and prob won't get verified until the first week of SeptemberThis is my first year really tracking AMCAS verification times- when things "pick up" how fast does it go? Like verifying two days worth of applications in one day?
I submitted 7/18, sounds like we're in the same boat. Thank you!Last year I submitted on August 23rd and got verified in literally 60 hours. Thank you! I'm sure it'll pick up for the August submitters! Good luck to you!So I did call AMCAS a few days ago to ask if your latter point was a possibility and they said yes. I hope the 1 per 1 verification rate picks up though. If not, as an august submitter, I am toast.
Hi everyone.
Two questions:
1. Just to confirm with everyone. I've submitted my application and transcripts from both my undergrad and my post-bac, and my current status is "Submitted to AMCAS - Ready for Review." I'm not missing anything, am I? And I'm just waiting for a verifier to verify my app?
2. Does anyone know if it's possible to send secondaries before I'm verified (still currently in the queue for verification)? Would there be any purpose to doing so?
Okay, thanks to rdyotz, I was able to get more complete data from the last cycle so I could plot out exactly where we are in relation to the previous cycle...this ain't so good :/ (also I sincerely hope the 80day verif person was a data misentry). But yeah...there aren't any signs of the verification timeline leveling out right now and timelines are rising more and more. once i get some time, i'll scrape the aamc twitter so i can get a more up to date version of where they are as opposed to relying on users self-reporting.
When I submitted my application, I really thought I would be verified by my birthdaysooo looks like this isn't speeding up :/
fr, I swear they've been on july 14th-15th for about a week now lolsooo looks like this isn't speeding up :/
I submitted on the 15th so was paying attention to the daily updates. They stayed on the 14th for two days and then said the 15th for one - but I submitted later at night (almost 11pm) and was verified by mid morning when they got to the 15thfr, I swear they've been on july 14th-15th for about a week now lol
Who sends secondaries without a primary????1. You’re not missing anything, just waiting for verification.
2. A handful of schools might send you secondaries before they receive primary, but there’s no reason for you to submit the secondaries before you’re verified. You can / should start working on the secondaries by looking up the prompts online or in the school-specific threads.
Who sends secondaries without a primary????
GW and NYMC do as well. From my list, Yale and BU. I know there are other schools too. Probably only this year because of covid. But there’s literally no point in submitting before your primary is verified anyway
Where are you seeing this? I see Yale pushed back its deadlines by a month, but their website still says "All applicants will be invited by email to submit a Yale Secondary Application after submitting the AMCAS application." Same for BU. How do you even receive a secondary to complete without submitting a primary? From my list, Yale and BU. I know there are other schools too. Probably only this year because of covid. Is this on their websites? I don't see it!!!GW and NYMC do as well.

But then we're talking past each other. You received secondaries the day AFTER you submitted your primary, not BEFORE!!!!Because I literally received secondaries from these schools the day after I submitted my primary. There’s no reason that schools have to communicate this explicitly on their websites. Not important info

Yes, and how would they know to send you a secondary if they didn't "receive" your primary? I didn't send them a primary, and, probably not coincidentally, did NOT receive a secondary!!!I said in my initial post “before schools *receive* primary”

Great questions, but the answers are probably school specific. I would have thought they wouldn't look at a primary before it is verified, but apparently that is not the case, at least at some schools, at least this year. So, would they consider an unverified primary as meeting a deadline? If the answer is really relevant to you, I think you need to hear the answer from the school rather than what anyone here thinks is the answer. JMHO.Questions: 1) So once you submit a primary application to a designated school through AMCAS, then that school is notified immediately electronically of the submission even though nothing is verified yet? 2) if the school deadline to submit primary application is October 1, and you submit primary application to AMCAS before that date (say mid september) but the application does not get verified until after the October 1 deadline, is the application still considered timely as meeting the Oct 1 deadline? Thanks in advance.
I don't think so, people have said so about GW and I received a NYMC before my primary was verified (actually right after I submitted my primary to amcas)Is this on their websites? I don't see it!!!
Apparently NYMC has been known to do this in previous years as well, but I'm not sure about the other schools.Great questions, but the answers are probably school specific. I get it. I misunderstood what people were saying. They were saying secondaries were sent before primaries were verified, not before they were sent. Makes sense. No difference one way or the other whether or not it was verified if the school isn't going to screen!Apparently NYMC has been known to do this in previous years as well, but I'm not sure about the other schools.
Looks like it's been speeding up a little. Earlier this week it was at exactly 6 weeks, now it's a little under 6 weeks from submitted date. I check every day because I submitted 8/20.Verification slowing down? Speeding up?
Verification slowing down? Speeding up?
Great! So, they'll be caught up in the beginning of October, just in time for the end of the cycle!Speeding up, it's been 2 days of application in 1 day now, for the past two days
I just got verified (submitted 7/27) but i had to send in an academic change request because some credits weren't scaled correctly sigh
Wonder how long these usually take??
