2023-2024 Wake Forest

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Should take you an hour. You can practice by answering questions with FaceTime on just to get the feel for it. You do have a practice session that’s part of your AV check. This is ungraded. If you’ve gotten the hang of MMIs you’ll be fine.
Thank you! Are the questions related to Wake mainly or mainly just MMI type so bit less related? Assuming we all have the same questions so not sure how specific it could be to each person.

are you able to take notes during your kira assessment thinking time? or just supposed to think internally

I took notes and was clearly using them during the station (glancing at them) and got accepted.
This is good to hear! I was very obviously looking at mine as well and was worried they wouldn't like this. But then I thought... why give us the time to write stuff down if they don't want us to reference it? Congrats on the A!!

Since everyone on here is so superficial with what they share I’ll keep in tone lol. Let me say that you can’t prepare for it and it’s not something to stress about.

For those waitlisted, when do you plan on sending letters of interest? I was thinking I should do it by the end of the year at the latest, but I have no clues if Wake Forest has a preference for when exactly?

I was fortunate to receive an ‘A’ today! I interviewed in early October. The MMI one-way virtual interview felt a bit awkward and I wasn’t sure how I did, but the group activity was a lot of fun. Best of luck to all applicants and congratulations to everyone who has received an ‘A’!

Congrats!! Does your portal still say interview confirmed? Also have you recieved anything besides the decision letter? 🙂

thanks. the portal says 'decision form submitted'. I received an acceptance email and one with some financial aid information.

Is anybody else having trouble accessing their portal right now? Not sure if it is just me or my computer

Waitlist. When should we start sending in updated letters of interest and what should we include in them?

same, how are you preparing for it?
Just be yourself. You can practice by answering questions with FaceTime running (not in a call). That’s likely the best way to prep. I went into mine cold (minimal to no prep), but that’s seemed to work out best for me during my interviews. Everyone is different, so find what works best for you.

Does anyone mine commenting on if they used all the time allotted for the one was assessment questions?

This is an appeal to applicants who have taken Casper for admission to Wake Forest University SOM.

Complete the 2023 Situational Judgment Test Experience survey.

HPSA/SDN has the 2023 SJT Experience Survey available to anyone preparing for SJTs (especially Casper and PREview). If you completed the 2022 survey, you are welcome to go ahead and complete the survey again. This survey consists of multiple pages and will take up to 10 minutes. You can also place yourself on a waitlist for a study focusing more on school-run SJTs run through platforms like Kira Talent, to be released later in the year.

Your feedback matters!
We learned a lot about how applicants prepared for Casper and PREview last year, but the number of PREview schools has almost doubled this cycle! Over 20% of all AMCAS applicants will likely have taken PREview, and up to 90% of all medical school applicants will likely have taken Casper this cycle (according to Acuity Insights). This does not include applicants in non-medical professions who have had to take these assessments for admission to physician assistant, anesthesiology assistant, dental, veterinary, pharmacy, or physical therapy programs, where we see a trend that applicants with higher Casper results are preferred. Medical residency applicants are also being asked to complete Acuity Insights Assessments, and very little is known about how program directors use these data. Your responses are vital to get objective insights on how admissions committees value the results of these exams.

Your feedback matters!
We want to hear from as many people as possible, especially those attending or applying outside of medicine (MD/DO). This year saw an expansion of SJTs in admissions, and more information has been made available on preparing for these assessments. We want to stay current with these trends to guide future applicants and students facing these SJTs.

Many of our findings from the 2022 survey align with the NAAHP Testing Task Force report released last summer. This includes concerns about proctoring, consistency of scoring, and concern that applicants are paying for validity research. But we need more student voices to gain a louder voice to advocate for future health professional school applicants.

Your feedback has helped HPSA develop a workshop focused on preparing for SJTs like Casper and PREview. This workshop is part of our Becoming a Student Doctor preparation course, and we have already had some positive results among those who have participated in our mock interview workshops. An updated workshop will be presented at the UC Davis Prehealth Conference on October 14, and we welcome opportunities to present the full-length SJT workshop to your campus!

Fill out this survey and help future applicants become physicians in their chosen profession!

I just got an email this morning saying i dont have my CASPER on file. (I just forgot to add WF to the list when taking the test back in May, but all good now) But does this mean that I have a chance? Cause they would have rejected me regardless of Casper if they didnt like what they saw right? I had everything else submitted on 8/10

Since CASPER is a requirement I would assume you weren't marked as complete until Wake got added which would mean they probably hadn't reviewed your app yet. But I mean that's just an educated guess I genuinely have no idea how the process works with SJTs lol.
