I think that's just a edge-case. I had a piss-poor interview where my MD disagreed with my goals and aspirations, and I got a post-II R. not saying this was that bad, but i think the interview means something

I think interviewers vouch for you, but at the end of the day, it is the decision of the adcom to admit you. So it could go both ways...

The interview does play a role. I'm just saying don't take your interviewers words at face value about your chances of getting the A.

Bro I have this question too haha. Cause they say, "oh once you get in the door for an interview with your stats and experiences, everyone is on a level playing field and you deserve to be there". And then you have a stellar interview and get waitlisted. Happened to me a few times this year and it makes NO SENSE. An interviewer literally said to me, "if I was on my deathbed, I would want to be looking up at you caring for me" and then I got a fat middle-tier waitlist.
To me it feels like they send mixed signals, and everything is so wrapped in enigma.

Wild thing to say lol. I'm sure your interviewer advocated for you, but it's like TheGoodMD says, it's all up to the adcom on your ultimate fate.

It's because they interview too many people. I raised this issue and the answer was basically because they can and it's a sellers market.

To me, it makes no sense to over interview people. If you need to fill 160 spots and your historical yield is 40% then you don't need to (and shouldn't want to) interview more than 600 people.

Presumably the interview process is predominantly a vibe check and supposedly less than 5% fail it. This means the decision as to accept most folks was determined by the rest of their application and there really isn't a need to over interview and end up rejecting 60% of those interviewed.
 
To me, an interview lets you know if you're still in contention. But instead of being in the game with say 7,000 others, you're now being compared to say 600 others. However, I believe applicants are still reviewed holistically and then selected. I do think an interview is an opportunity for you to really sell yourself though, and to have someone advocate for you. But it is only part of the holistic review. Adcoms also have to fill out their class size and not everyone will attend when accepted, so they will like to have more people to accept when people drop.

I interviewed yesterday but it was also because the doctor originally interviewing me had an emergency and my interview was rescheduled. But I think they’re still interviewing? I’m not sure if they’re still sending invites though

If I had to guess, I would assume everyone prior to February 14th. They sent an email maybe early Feburary? mentioning a save the date for March 7th? (IIRC) for accepted students and that they were sending that email to all students who interviewed before Feburary 14th. Honestly, it's safe to say no one knows the exact answer. We are all neurotic premeds who find solace in posting on a forum like this!

Take this with a grain of salt because I heard this from med students, but at my info session yesterday they said we’d hear back tomorrow
 
Does anyone know if they do phone calls or if it's mass emails at a certain time tomorrow?
 
I was really hoping they would keep to the same schedule. I don't think I can stand going about my day as usual with this hanging over my head.
 
I just reread the email they sent back in January and it states “will be mailed to interviewed MD candidates beginning March 5”. So I guess this means it can be anytime after today…. 😭

I think it will be today though because they have virtual chats for admitted students starting tomorrow

They're likely sending one A wave today and then after that are WL
 
in the past theyve released almost all their decisions on the first day
