2025-2026 Cincinnati

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
UC is getting rid of MMI this year. They were the first MD school to implement MMI. I wonder what that might mean for other schools, and how much different/harder it will be to get accepted post-interview here. There is supposed to be a KIRA (asynchronous) situational judgement test/interview, and then a 1:1 faculty interview.
this is simply bc it was hard to get volunteers to do the MMIs since they are so people/time intensive. Coming from someone at UCCOM!

The secondary gives you the opportunity to talk about your IA (if applicable) in 2 separate questions:

- Were you ever the recipient of any institutional action (e.g., disciplined, probation, suspended, dismissed or other action) by any college, university or medical school for unacceptable academic performance or conduct violation, even though such action may not have interrupted your enrollment or required you to withdraw? If 'Yes' please explain fully in the space below.

- Discuss any elements of your application that you feel might be concerning to the Admissions Committee. (This could include explanation of metric trends, institutional actions, legal violations, etc.). Please enter N/A if you have no concerns to report.

I had an academic IA (without going too much in depth... received warning and zero on pre-lab assignment after referring to someone else's). I wrote about this in AMCAS and responded to the first prompt above, showing genuine growth and dedication to integrity. I'm stuck on whether to expand even more on what I learned and how I grew in the second prompt above, which would most definitely read as very redundant, or just skip that prompt all together.

What are your thoughts chat?

any current out of state cincinnati students who could give advice?

someone on cycle track said they have gotten an interview, is this true? when should we expect to hear yes or no
It depends. If you applied EDP like I did, sometime in August-September. Decisions go out on Oct 1. Otherwise, it'll be by May.

Is it bad not to answer the Ohio ties prompt? I have an uncle who lives there, but I haven't talked to him in years. Not sure how much I could stretch

Cinci isn't as instate heavy as it used to be. Not a death sentence like trying to apply to KY schools w/o Ties. Better to not write anything than lie about it and get caught.

Questions sound like they really want to weed out any bad apples. I had an accident a few years ago when I was still an inexperienced idiot, and thankfully only thing that happened was it got dropped when I showed up in online court (the cop was very lenient, but my insurance rates spiked all the same). I imagine I can just answer "no" to #3.

Wonder why the questions are really just not asking much beyond "why us", gap year, reapplicant, and ties. If it's just mainly primary they're looking at, bravo to them

You're welcome to try it and report back 🙂

I was never "convicted" or "pled guilty". Literally showed up, the court official said "yeah since it's your first offense we're just gonna let you go with no issues at all". But in hindsight I will just write about it anyways.

In the AMCAS primary, we were allowed to say no if our record was expunged. Is this prompt asking for an answer regardless of if the record was expunged or not?

Have you ever been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to, any moving traffic violations (moving violations include speeding tickets)?
If yes, please explain fully below (include information even if charges were dropped, dismissed, or otherwise mitigated). (750 characters)
also, how serious is the response to this prompts guys. Are you guys actually reporting speeding tickets to this question? Is it a bad idea to just leave it blank?

It’s a bad idea if you had one, yes. I cannot stress enough how important it is to not lie on your apps unless you’re willing to kiss your chance of being a physician goodbye

You must report even if expunged. Your school still has access to the records even if expunged (something admins won’t tell you) so the safe thing to do is to report it.

It'll still show on one of their background checks. Just answer the question honestly- it's not that complex or worth splitting hairs over a technicality... If you want to do all that, maybe you should go to law school instead 😉

On the topic of legal issues/applying- If you get the A, make sure you can pass a drug screen as well. Not worth trying to cheat at the finish line. THC is legal in Ohio, but I'm not sure if that'd upset the adcom.

Ok, I was wondering because the wording of the prompt wasn't very clear. Other schools like Einstein and Hackensack were more direct with phrasing like "expunged or not" or "even if it doesn't show up on your transcript". Because of this, I was confused. I can't remember off the top of my head right now, but if I answered "no" to any other school that didn't have direct phrasing like Einstein and Hackensack, am I screwed with them? Is there anything I can do? I'll have to double check all of the secondaries I've already submitted, but now I'm very worried.

I wouldn't worry about the ones you've already submitted. Based on the language you're using here, it sounds like the schools that are direct w/ their request (Cinci, Einstein, Hackensack), you should answer fully regarding the situation (s). For other schools, a "no" sounds like an appropriate response.

It'll all get buffed out and you can clarify during the interview if you still feel concerned when the time comes 🙂
