Long School of Medicine does not employ written secondary essays, so we won't post prompts here as we do for other schools.

1. Long wants you to take CASPer and Duet, but they do not look at those results until AFTER you have interviewed.

2.
If you are invited for an interview, Long will then send you a link to also do a one-way video on the SparkHire platform.
Complete this videotaping before the date you selected for your LIVE (Zoom) interview.

SparkHire FAQS for candidates

Good luck to all applying!

Interview Feedback:

Hey everyone, looks like I'm early to the party. I'm a nontrad that grew up in San Antonio and this has been my top choice for a while. I'm curious about whether Long screens applications at a specific MCAT threshold. I saw on an older version of this thread that there was a rumored 510 cutoff--is this true? I'm pretty close to this threshold and would appreciate any insight.

There's not a cutoff and they will spend a lot of time reading your primary. Your military background, maturity, and life experiences should help.
Their MSAR page indicates 513 as the edge of their 10th %tile, so the scores do skew higher, but it also means that 10% of the class has an MCAT less than 513.

Thanks for the response, this helps tremendously! Also appreciate your response to my post a few years ago—San Antonio was the right move.

Look forward to interacting with you and everyone else as this cycle progresses!

thanks- since you posted last, our SDN app has been wonky, so delete it from your phone.

Hi!! Do you know of anyone from OOS with no Texas ties who got a UTSA interview or even an acceptance? I have a 521/3.96 but I just want to know if I have a shot. They have already received my app. thank you so much!

Yes you have a chance, and you don’t have to prove any ties to Texas. A maximum of 10% (24) can be accepted from OOS.

Primary verified a week and a half ago but I haven't gotten a confirmation email or anything from Long. Is this normal or will I get notified only when I get selected for the one way?

yes, remember they don't have a secondary written essay and will only contact you if you have been selected to interview.
They are having orientation for their incoming MS1 class this week and will get to the applications again soon!

is it possible for low stat applicants to be accepted into this school? As in lower than the 10% of MSAR data?

If you are in the "lower than 10%" bucket, you are essentially competing with everyone else in that same range for 23 spots out of a class of 227. While it is not an exact science, it is important to keep in mind that there are lots of people with those numbers applying for a small amount of seats. That said, it is definitely not impossible! I think having a strong application otherwise, any maybe some unique factors will definitely help your chances.

There are some positions given to JAMP who only need to match 502.
