hi everyone, i was just wondering if there is anyone out there who got accepted into a pharmacy school with a 3.3 GPA!!! i talked to this pre-pharmacy girl today and since she has a 4.0 she told me that my chance of getting accepted with a 3.3 is zero 🙁

I have heard people that got accepted with less than that so I think if you have a good PCAT you could get in. Also it have to do with when they applied and where they applied to that got them in. But I think you still have a chance.

is 3.3 overall or just science. i know plenty of people go into pharm school with ~3.3 gpa. you should be fine. keep in mind, gpa is not the sole determination for getting into pharmacy school.

good luck to you.

um...so yeah. don't listen to that girl what-s0-ever. she is not on the admissions committee and cannot speak for them. I have a 3.11 GPA and have already had two interview invites. I am pretty sure you are fine with a 3.3. GPA.

Are you sure she wasn't pre-med? Those people are cutthroat like that.

3.3 science 🙁

Cheer up. 😀 Folks have gotten into programs with 3.3 science gpas before. Your pre-requisite gpa will matter to a lot of programs- maybe even more so than just the science gpa. Depending on the school you wish to be accepted at, pre-reqs may even include non-science subjects which may even boost your relevant 'gpa'. They will look at your transcript and see what actually matters. And don't let folks discourage you- a 3.3gpa is not a bad average.

3.3GPA... It's totally possible to get in with that. PCATS, Experience, volunteering, interview, writing sample, how early you apply, etc. all contribute to your chances of getting into a school.

You're so close to a 3.4-3.5 science GPA. I would suggest that you take an additional science course or two to bring that average up a little. You're on that tricky A/B border. If you could get between a 3.4 and 3.5, you'd be more competitive. Your situation is different from a person going from, lets say, a 3.0 to a 3.1 GPA.
Strive for that "A" average, and try your best!

I know this has been mentioned before but I'm saying it in a positive sense...use the search function on the forum and you'll find a lot of other individuals who were in your position, but have gotten into pharmacy school regardless.

Seeing other threads may help you achieve the confidence and forget about what the person told you. Other than that, everyone else who has posted is right...you have a fighting chance =)

Hey so what was is your pcat score?
..If you dont mind sharing that either lol

I have a 3.1 GPA overall (degree in economics) and currently taking
the science classes for my prereqs. What are my chances of gettin into pharmacy school if i manage a 3.3-3.5 gpa in these prereq classes?

Im just wondering bc the overall 3.1 gpa from my original degree really looks bad (but i did get my highest grades in math classes!)

that pre-pharmacy girl you talked to is an idiot and told you your chances are zero to make herself feel better. and if she told you she has a 4.0, she's probably lying, unless you saw her transcript yourself.

Well no one should tell you that your chance is zero unless you don't meet the minimum GPA requirements for every pharm school.

I'm willing to bet that pre-pharm student applied before and got rejected to all the schools, because of the person's personality, so she thinks anyone with lower then 4.0 can't get in.

that person is an ignorant twatwaffle.

gpa is just one factor and good essays, letters of rec, interviews, communication skills etc are just as important. many pharmacy schools i'm applying to have an average gpa of 3.3-3.4. that means many students had gpas lower than that.

i think it really comes down to how well you can sell yourself. everyone applying with decent gpas/test scores are obviously qualified. just to be in the position to apply means you work hard and are motivated. all you have to do at this point is show them that you would be a valuable asset to their school.

I agree! for ucsf, it's more than gpa. Trust me! work hard on your supplemental and show your personality and you're bound for an interview at ucsf

I got in with a 3.4 with a lower science GPA (depending on the school). Your contact is misinformed as average GPAs range from 3.4-3.7
