Well, from what I gather, this is probably one of the more difficult tests that's been administered in recent times. At least from everyone's reactions to it.
Anyone have an idea of what exactly the curve is based off of for each section and what sort we can expect?

The curve should be bell shaped

People said that exam was hard, myself included, but doesn't everyone say 'that was way harder than the practice tests' immediately after taking the test? In a few days, I think I will relax and realize it wasn't as hard as I thought it was and I don't expect anything special from the curve.

read the previous MCAT threads and you will see that the overall feeling after the MCAT we had was much worse...yes people always freak out but most of the time they would compare their MCAT to be most like AAMC 10(or any latest released practice tests)...ours was nothing like ANY of AAMC tests and we all agreed on it.

Having said that we never know how good we could have done even in pure guessing of the right answers so for the next 30 days we will live in the land of "not knowing a damn thing"...i really have no clue how i did. I usually had a pretty good feeling about my performance on all practice tests and could pretty much predict how i did in each section. The 31st may MCAT made me have a feeling like the one i had when i took my very first practice exam...i thought i did really bad🙁...i am at this point just hoping i didn't to worse then my lowest practice tests:scared:

ditto. exactly.

Yeah. That was a monster. It didn't help that I was having allergies and the test room was so damn cold(I thought two shirts would be enough, just in case)....

hey guys,
without getting specific, does anyone remember what the may 31 PS passages were about? i only remember the ones about drums and conducting rails. thanks.

I also can't remember most of the may 31st passages on PS, and it's really bothering me. I remember those two and a freezing point depression one. Does anyone remember all of them?

I also remember an acid battery passage and a satellite passage.

Let's be honest here. It's important that people do not needlessly get their hopes up for a curve. From what I've seen, there's only about 15-20 or so SDNers who took the May 31st MCAT. Even if every single one of those people believe the test was hard, you have to remember how many thousands of people took the test the same day. I haven't been here long enough to correlate the reactions of SDNers with how the test scores turn out, but I felt like it had to be said.

From what I gather from MSAR, it seems like MCAT scores are weighted towards 10's these days in each section. On a graph of # of persons versus scores broken down by each section, there is a huge spike at 10.

Also, I think it's rather presumptuous to say that your test was one of the hardest as of late just by judging from people's reactions. There seems to be far more persons posting that took the May 31st test than any other test date. Y'all just had a huge freak out session afterwards and there were plenty of people to fuel the fire.

Just relax, your scores won't be coming in for at least a month.

LOL, I wish people could have seen that first passage... Then everyone would have understood what we were talking about...

It felt like that one summer evening when I was at the local water park... they have these awesome slides that go from the top of this hill the whole way to the bottom...

Well, on this particular day at this particular time, I decided to go on the slide that was furtherest to the left, thought it be MORE FASTER...

As I proceeded down the slide I was swoooshing and woooshing hahahaha the joy on my face but then... I come around a bend and much to my surprise there is a thorned rose branch hanging over the course track and IT WENT SMACKKKKKK right in my face.

WASN"T EXPECTING THAT ONEEEEEEEE.... The rest of my trip down, about 10 more seconds SUCKED and my face was bloody and I was wondering WTFFFFFFF no one else noticed that GODDDD darned thing all day?

Well, if you went down that slide on that side at that time on that particular day... You would have gotten smacked too. As we ALL DID...

Cheers

You could've just skipped the first passage. I did and when I came back at the end, I was all warmed up and that passage wasn't that bad.

yeah but once you read it there goes your 5 or whatever minutes...and skipping it at that point to go to the other 6 and forget about what was written there...well you would have to read it again and waste another 5 minutes...I think it is better to go in order and knock them off as you go. The only time when i jumped was when i was running out of time and just decided to do stand alones first before reading the passage allthogether.

Yeah. The peak of the bell curve will be 8-9 on each section.

With the sample sizes, the curve will be about the same as the AAMC released ones. Everyone thinks the real thing is hard. Even people who scored really well think it was tough and are drained.

The peaks on MSAR's graphs are all at 10.

Is this not the same curve you speak of?

Having never looked at the MSAR, I can't say, but perhaps the graph you are looking at in the MSAR is for those accepted to med school since that is about the average score for those matriculating. When I took it last year all the data that I saw agreed with the 8-9 peak for all testers.

Im just curious, but was there more than 1 version of the exam on the 31st or did all test takers have 1 version of the exam?
