One of my good friends at one of the better DO schools had a 498. She also had a good app and a poor upbringing.

I'm at a top tier MD with a 499. I had a great app and an extremely compelling reason (not just an excuse) for my score, though.

Just have to make sure the rest of your app is interesting and convincing.
