I'm not sure if there is already one, but I couldn't find any.

I'm about 1 month into studying but just did the EK PS 30 min exam. The microscopes and lenses caught me off guard =/

How is everyone else doing?

Wow, a few of yall are getting some really good scores (in my opinion) so far.
Take AAMc 3, 7-10 and been hitting 29-32 so far.

Hopefully i can pull a 32 and call it done forever!

2 more days.....

AHHH SO MUCH TO LEARN IN TWO DAYS!!!!!SDF34#$$KSDSDOH5^@@LEWNELW (etc)

...Gonna go drive around and (re)listen to some Audio Osmosis. Go baby go!

So I scoped out my testing center today, and when I was in the lobby I got really pumped up when I saw the testing cubicles lol..

I'm getting pretty excited to take this test.

Here's to all of us doing well.:luck:

good luck everyone 😀

but please make sure to get a good night sleep (as you probably heard already) by waking up early the day before the exam and not taking a nap until it's really time to go to bed in the night (unless you're taking the afternoon mcat exam then make sure to eat well before you enter the room)!

good luck, good luck, good luck 👍

judgement day is upon us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hows everyone feeling? What are you all gonna do the day before the exam (tomorrow)?

Ugh I have to work tomorrow. Hopefully it will be slow so I can do a little more last-minute review. Took another AAMC today and apparently someone pulled the plug on all of my knowledge of solutions. :smack:

got drunk tonight 🙂
tequila = win 🙂

the fates have my destiny in hand now...

First off... Happy Jewish New Year to anyone that's celebrating today.

Second...

just wrote AAMC 8... I almost wished I could have ACTUALLY voided it when that screen came up. hahaha it felt horrible. nonetheless... somehow...

VR-13!!!!!
PS-12
BS-12

As if a science student would get a higher verbal score than the science scores... Moral of the story?

DO NOT VOID TOMORROW! Because no matter how bad you think you did, you probably didn't. (Unless you have a seizure, diabetic crisis, freak out and your hands start sweating so much that you soak the keyboard and it starts to go up in smoke, or if some other really serious ailment troubles you)

Here's to 30+ for all of us tomorrow! GOOD LUCKKKKKK ALL!

Plans for today?
Going to go see a friend who just got back from Europe

Man it sucked waking up early today but I have to keep my biological clock ready for an 8AM test, haha

Going through my notebook full of information/concepts/passages that i missed.

Less than 24hours.

Hopefully it doesnt rain tomorrow (isolated thunderstorms, 30% precipitation); been raining already for the past few days...

On AAMC 9 yesterday, which was supposed to be my last, I got a 32 (PS: 12, VR: 7, BS: 13) but that 7 got me extremely scared even though I panicked in the middle of verbal because I thought I would be short on time and got only 6/18 on the last 3 passages but 17/22 on the first 4. If I wouldn't have panicked I would probably have gotten my usual 10 or so but run out of time. Lesson: Don't panic in verbal no matter what.

That 7 led me to take AAMC 10 today which I got a 33 (PS: 10, VR: 10, BS: 13). I seem to be stuck at a 13 in BS which I'm happy with, I think with better orgo skills (going over organic very quickly tonight) I could probably crack in the 14-15 range. The PS seemed hard (especially the last passage) but at the same time I'm sick as hell with a runny nose and headache with extremely sore throat. I haven't gotten much sleep lately so I figure if I get 9 hours tonight and the heighten concentration tomorrow should allow me to get the PS in the 12-13 range it's usually in. I was just too tired during PS and just waiting for verbal.

I'll make predictions tomorrow but worst case scenario I get PS:11, VR: 9, BS:12 for a 32 which I would be happy with. Best case scenario I get PS:13/14, VR: 10/11, BS: 13-15 for a 37-40, which would fall in my target range. I don't care about writing but I looked at a few examples today.

Good luck tomorrow to everyone going for their target scores. Remember, work very carefully and efficiently, don't panic under any circumstances because panic = instant failure, and make sure you allow yourself to at least see every question.

i'm freaking out on yall's behalf now (so you don't have to now! you can relax). good luck everyone!!

didn't think it was too bad, but i voided (felt like i would have gotten sub 30)

PS - thought it was the hardest of the 3, messed up on more than i should have (reason i voided)
VR- just like AAMCs, 1 passage got so dull i read through it twice, finished with 3sec left
BS - easiest of the 3, messed up on 1 passage

Ugh, that was not great.

I thought PS was particularly difficult. I thought it was going to be easy after the first couple passages but it definitely got harder. I agree that PS was the hardest section of the day.

VS wasn't too bad I thought. There were a few WTF questions but I actually enjoyed a couple of the passages. This was always my best section anyways so who knows how it will shake out.

For the writing sample, I almost ran out of time in one of my essays and had to rush the last paragraph. I'm sure it makes less sense than I had intended, but what's done is done.

BS was tough as well. The content tipped a little towards my favor with the bio/orgo balance, but even still I had to guess (or pick 1 of 2 possibles) much more often than I liked.

At least one good thing we can all agree on.... ALL DONE. 👍

Any June 17 retakers? I felt that the June test was ridiculous compared to today's test imo. Not saying I did great today, just felt that the June test was harder. Maybe its just me...

I have a bad feeling about it...I almost fell asleep halfway through verbal, i had been getting 7's, 8's, 9's on verbal and now I'm scared of whats gonna happen. I was literally fighting to keep my eyes open, this is such a joke.

I'm gonna have to prepare for the jan mcat. ugh this exam.

Weather was good, traffic was good, testing center was good... yet i feel like ****

Anyways, time to relax for the rest of the day.

Gonna hate going to work tomorrow and having coworkers ask me how well i did...

I have a different opinion. I thought PS was the easiest among 3.

PS: finished it 7 minutes left, went back to all the marked questions
VR: wow hard.. many obscure questions.. had 15 minutes after finishing 5th passage, so I chose to do the last passage first which was easier and had 6 questions.
BS: once again obscure.. slightly more difficult than AAMC bios

Essay: liked the first one. used Clinton and Hitler as examples
hated the second one.
used sex and the city and south park as examples :laugh::laugh:

😎 I thought the bio had too much orgo for my liking but the physics was somehow a bit easier, I agree with the verbal tho I almost fell asleep and drifted like 2 times. Any how lets enjoy this month until the results come in!!

my two cents on today's test...

alright so... having written 07/08 this year also this is my mcat aftermath...

PS- well, it's physical sciences, it definitely got physical with me. there was no way you could have studied more for it. some answers were taken directly from the passage, but you had to be on top of the wording. some of the freestanding questions were complete gimmes, there were repeats of some of the AAMC practice tests, I believe I counted 2 of them? that was a nice confidence boost (I know I at least got 2 out of 52 for sure! haha) my advice to people writing in the future? get your head in the game and do a ton of practice passages. There might be calculation heavy MCATs out there, but today wasn't as calculation heavy. I finished with 2 minutes left, and I really had to pee so I said screw it.

VR- Wow, ok so on 07/08 everyone said that the verbal was easy, it was NOT easy, the passages were long and convoluted. However, today the passages were STILL long, but I actually enjoyed the verbal today. I felt very confident in about 90% of my answers. There were a few WTF moments, but always going back to the main point helps.

WS- Fantastic. The first prompt was better than the first. The second one required a little more colorful bull****ting. Got an S last time and I made up every single example, feels about the same if not a little less or even a T hopefully. On this one, I actually used a real example in one of my essays, I'll be pissed if I do worse. haha.

BS- Where to begin? Well, the biology part of the test was fine, there were a few WTFs as per usual. The organic was absolutely INSANE! I swear they were on steroids, I had two passages of organic, one was very doable, the other one? Might as well have been banging my head against a brick wall, I HATE making educated guesses between 2 options. Got a 12 on this last time, would be happy with a 10 this time.

I guess I'll predict how I think it went, which by the way is impossible, but here's to trying.

Worst case scenario:

PS-09
VR-11
WS-R
BS-10
Total: 30R

Best case scenario:

PS-10
VR-12
WS-T
BS-11
Total: 33T

Now we wait a month. Good luck people writing on Saturday!

The physics felt like a verbal passage to me at times... I was doing a lot of passage retrieval.

haha I used clinton too!

and yeah I thought the BS was more like verbal...It took me forever to understand the questions and it was def harder than the aamc bio

haha I agree about the orgo portion of BS. There were a good number of orgo questions that I didn't even understand the terminology, nevermind WTF the question was asking. 😱

I'm glad people feel the same way about the writing sample questions. 1st one was a good question, 2nd question took a lot more thinking (and BS) to get through.

So as I mentioned yesterday, I was very very sick and on top of that I got 0, that's right ZERO hours of sleep last night. I was laying in bed awake for 8 hours but it allowed me to go over all the PS formulas in my head like 8 times. I got there at 7 AM and was the first one there and got to start at 7:30, which ended up being quite amazing.

PS: The first passage had 1 or 2 questions I wasn't sure of but other than that I thought this section was the easiest of the 3 and a piece of cake. I honestly thought it was easier than any of the AAMCs even though it was medium calculations but I used a lot of math tricks to breeze my way through those questions. Finished with 15 minutes left. I definitely saw 2-4 questions from AAMCs I had just taken in the past few days so those were easy-pizy answers. I agree there were a lot of passage retrieval/did you understand the passage type questions which I liked because they require no background knowledge, just look it up in the passage.

VR: I'm not sure if I had the same verbal as everyone else but I didn't think it was bad at all. I actually thought the passages were interesting and that there wasn't really a killer passage. I had yet to finish a verbal exam on time and still didn't today but that's normal for me. Even though I don't finish I work accurately and get near 10 every time. I think this was as good as or maybe even better than my verbal high of 11. I think if I got lucky on the last 2-3 questions I guessed on then I have a shot at 12 but I probably did normal in the 10-11 range. I really didn't think they were that boring.

WS: I didn't practice a lick for this and it might have showed. I didn't even look at sample essays. My examples were so-so and I put a barely coherent argument forward, wouldn't be surprised if I completely bombed this but I'm not really sure how harshly they grade this section and also I don't really care.

BS: This was interesting. It was definitely the hardest of the 3 sections but the actual biology and genetics wasn't that hard I thought. I think I had 2 or 3 organic passages and the rest had some degree of relation to genetics. The organic passage was the hardest passage I think I've ever seen. I spent so much time on that passage for nothing and ran out of time and had to guess on 2 questions at the end of the section. I thought the passage itself and the accompanying questions were unlike anything I've EVER seen from an organic or biology passage. Does anyone else agree on that? That's the only killer passage I thought was on the exam. It was insanely insanely hard. I literally had no idea for half of the questions. I think the fact that I screwed up my timing just on that passage screwed me over for the 2-3 passages after it because I had to rush through those. I hope I get lucky and get my usual 13. I would honestly be happy with a 13 after that organic passage. The rest of the passages weren't hard really, you just had to read the passage carefully and answer the questions just like verbal. The only problem was that on practice tests the passages were at most only half as long as the bio passages on the real thing so it was VERY time consuming. Not hard but time consuming to read a verbal length passage and answer questions on it, even though I was getting 13's on bio I wasn't ready for the length. In the practice AAMCs, the bio passages were never more than the space on the left side but I had blocks of paragraphs for at least 3 or 4 passages. So for future test takers, bio and all the genetics aren't hard per se, but just time consuming and long so be prepared for that.

Overall I think I did as well if not better than my highest AAMC score. I'm afraid to commit to a number or anything else and will just say that we'll have to wait and see because I don't want to look like a complete ******* when scores come out and I did terribly when I thought I did somewhat well. Considering that I had the flu (sore throat, headache, runny nose), got 0 hours of sleep and getting low (relative to earlier AAMCs) on my last two AAMCs, I think today was a great day. It will be funny and embarrassing in 4 weeks if I get right around my last 2 AAMCs and didn't do as well as I thought.

What's done is done, time to let the waiting game begin.

Took today...I want to read everyone's opinion b/c it's interesting after you've taken the same test...but I'm too sleepy, lol. Woke up WAY too early this morning, by accident (2.5 hours before the sun) and couldn't go back to sleep. Interesting to hear the opinions of re-takers though!
Time to 😴

omg, i know i did two stupid mistakes for sure one in each BS and PS section...

OMG how could i??!?!?!?!!!!!

I was so nervous taking this test, iono if it affected my game.

my leg was literally shaking during PS section.

in short I think i failed today, I even failed in the second essay prompt. When i was finishing up writing my second essay I thought of a even better way to connect my examples but it was too late, only had 3 mins left!!

The only thing I'm afraid of is that I missed a set of questions or more than a set in either VR or BS. I guess if I get a 7 or 8 in either of those sections I will know that I did. I finished PS early so I know I finished all those questions. VR I skipped around a lot but I kept track on a sheet but now I'm not so sure. BS, in the end I was flipping back and forth so fast that I could have. I really don't know if I did or not. I hope I didn't, if I did I'm going to be so upset with myself because outside of that one organic passage I thought this was really a doable test that I could score well in. I hope I don't get paranoid like this for the rest of the month.

Is paranoia like this a norm after taking the real thing?

Can someone PM me how they set up the second essay prompt. I think I royally screwed it up.

Thanks.

Got back about 2 hours ago. Don't want to talk about specifics so:

PS - :lame:

VR - 🙂

WS - 🙄

BS - 😡

I basically agree with VorenusLucius.

At least I have a month off and can get back to my life!! Now it's time for the 1 month wait. 👎

Uhgg.. I did my retake today. On my last exam I got a 10 PS and since then all my practice tests have been 10s and 11s. Today I felt like I didn't know a damn thing at all in PS. I don't know what the heck happened. I ran out of time and had to 100% guess on an entire passage! That NEVER happens!

PS was supposed to be 10-11 for sure. I was retaking because of VR. VR actually was pretty easy this time around. None of those impossible to follow passages.

Hopefully the PS didn't go as bad as I thought. When I got the 10 I didn't think it was all that stellar either (i keep telling myself thats how I felt last time).

It felt just like a practice test with slightly longer passages all around. I feel like the concepts it tested were overall more simple than the aamcs but it was very easy to make dumb mistakes. Very hard to predict your performance.

First off, congrats to everyone!!! We are finally finishedddd!!! yayayayaya

So this was my first time taking the exam...here's what I thought:

PS - I don't know if it was my nerves or what, but this section seemed to be the hardest of the three. The first few passages were alright, but then I felt like it got more difficult. There were definitely some repeat questions from practice exams, which was a nice welcome. I think I performed the worst on this section though.

VR - It went alright. Some passages were boring, others were interesting...typical. I agree that the photography passage was a little out there, and that D. Boone was stoopid. Don't think I had the college architect one...? My timing on this section was on par with my practice verbals (EK and aamc). I know some people on the forums have been saying that they thought their verbal passages on the mcat were longer than the aamc practice ones, but I didn't think they were.

WS - Great topics....'nuff said.

BS - Had a little more orgo than I was anticipating...but overall not too bad. It was definitely more passage based than any of the practice tests I took, and at times did feel like VR. The isomerization orgo looked intimidating, but aside from the last question for it (where i was like uhh WTF) I didn't think the questions for it were impossible. The genetics on there wasn't overkill either.

Hoping for the best. Probably will retake in Jan depending on how well I scored in PS. Now the waiting game begins.......

I'm kinda pissed about something. One of the chemistry calculations which was pretty easy actually.. there were 2 answers that could have gone either way depending on how you rounded.

I did it right now at home on a calculator and the actual number is EXACTLY between the 2. REALLY?! Load of crap

got raped...i blanked out in ps. as a result, was pressed for time.

vr has almost been my weakest...so im not expecting to do well on this section

i thought bio was insanely hard. 😡 I probably guessed on half of the questions.

looks like im going to join the 1/29/2011 mcat club.

predictions:

ps - 9
vr - 7
bs - 7
