1) Would you be better off with a step I/step II of 191/187 vs. 215/215 but having failed step I the first attempt and why?

2) How many interviews would you expect with a 191/187, bottom 25% grades, good evaluations/letters from a US MD program?

3) How many schools would you apply to with the stats in #2?

4) If you had the stats in #2 except a step II of 210, would you get many more interviews than with the 187?

5) How likely would you be to match vs. scramble vs. not match with the stats in #2 (assuming externs/interviews go well)?

Just curious to what those who have been through the process think about these scenerios, TIA!

Here are the rules.

1. if you failed once you are really behind the 8 ball
2. apply to all the programs you would be ok with. $$ is not an issue.
3. you chances are 0% at the places you don't apply
4. do your absolute best NOT to have to scramble... cause it doesn't seem to turn out well for almost anyone

are you a us grad? where are you doing away rotations? you need to set up some away rotations and work your butt off. are you an MS4? if so it is getting LATE to apply for aways...one of the programs i would recommend is full, i am pretty sure. PM me if you want some ideas of programs that are not super crazy competitive.
apply EVERYWHERE that you would go. i mean everywhere. i am applying to like 70 programs....because faced with not being able to be an anesthesiologist, lots of places start to look pretty damn good.
i agree, avoid the scramble at all costs. there are weird success stories but mostly people are unhappy.
