I am thinking of trying a minor weight loss supplement. I am a male, around 160-170lbs, and just around 6ft tall. I understand that weight loss takes time, but I have been working on my diet and exercising moderately with little change in my energy level or weight over the last month or so. I am not looking for an overnight trick, just something to get my metabolism moving in the right direction, momentum I suppose. So, any recomendations?

This thread will stay open as long as medical advice is not given. Please do not recommend something a physician would have to prescribe.

With that said, I will tell you sometimes its hard to jumpstart your body. I've been back at the gym for ~6 weeks. I'm trying to burn 700-800 calories a day as well as watch what I eat. Its tough sometimes, but by monitoring serving sizes (and calories) along with exercise it is working.

Diet and exercise. You're welcome.

Being an exercise physiology researcher and former 'pro' athlete, I absolutely hate supplements. Like studies, it takes discipline and time to see even the slightest results and progress. Just keep working harder and by the 6 month mark you should see something. That is, if you are honestly working harder. Girls need to understand this, too.

honestly i think girls have a harder time losing weight, especially around the baby-making area haha

Since you aske for supplements, I would say oxy elite pro. Its just stuff you can pick up at GNC and it works really well. I lost 30 pounds one semester while taking this supplement. It gives you energy without crashing, and surpresses your appetite. You still have to diet and exercise though....thats the reason its called a supplement

Is it just me or does 6ft tall 160lbs sound a little underweight?

Nah it's about right. I'm 6'1" and got up to 180 while my wife was pregnant... whoops. Working my way back down to 160, what I was before.

I've heard a lot about ECA (ephedrine, caffeine, aspirin). Pretty sure ephedrine is only available in breathing medication (Bronkaid).

Regardless, I don't think I'd recommend it but I've been told it's effective for its given purpose.

Sounds a little slim, probably looks ok though.

At 6ft and 165 lbs it sounds like your "skinny fat" if your trying to lose weight. I say this because if you had even moderate muscle mass you would be pretty ripped at that weight and height.

Therefore I would still keep your diet in check but cut down on the cardio and lift heavy compound movements. Bench press, standing barbell press, weighted chin ups, dips, and deadlift/squat if you want bigger legs.

For supplements, what works best for me is just a simple caffeine pill on an empty stomach before some moderate aerobic work.

I hate cardio. A workout full of compound lifts is currently working for me.

haha sounds about right.

It really is all about diet. This thing here gives you a good idea of how many calories to take in for your goal, but you can always tinker with it a little: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm Also make sure your calories are of good quality. Eat lots of protein. Do cardio on top of your reduced caloric intake. If you'd like, take some CLA. This is usually my method when I'm trying to lose a few pounds. It works kind of slow and steady. Yes, you will likely feel hungry all the time for a while, but you get used to it.

Back on track.

There is no need for memes/mirin's/etc. in this thread. Please act professionally and contribute positively.

The thread is completely irrelevant to pre-osteo anyway though

I'm 5"11 and weigh around 165 lbs and I would hardly consider myself overweight. I usually eat well and exercise ~ 1 hour a day.

You mirin'? Jelly?

6'0" 170 lbs crew checking in. I'm trying to freaking gain weight over here, only in certain places of course. You don't really need to lose weight, just to redistribute it. Just be dedicated to working out and watching your diet and you will lose some flab and gain some of dem dere muscles. No need for supplements or anything.

Completely cut fast food and soda out. That's a good starting point. From there control your portions and stuff. I eat lots of fish/chicken and lots of vegetables. I intentionally only buy one snack food at a time for my house so I don't smash snacks (chips and salsa or crackers or something). Cut down beer consumption too if that is an issue. I run 4-6 miles 5 days a week and lift 4 days a week. I've only really been doing all this with SERIOUS dedication for about two months and I am already trimmer. Weight is up a little even to dem dere muscle gains but slimmer through my core for sure. No idea about BF% though I'm curious. It's hard to get into working out consistently but once you do you will be really happy with it I think. feelsgoodman.jpg

Also, this thread is clearly not relevant to pre-osteo so what on earth difference does it make if it gets all misced up? modscrackingdown/10 wot/10
