Some of the schools that really prefer in state are William Carey, VCOM, WVSOM, Ohio, Oklahoma, Des Moines, and Michigan.

William Carey and Pikeville defintely prefer in state or, region applicants.
Thanks for the replies. But there is no official site, list or catalog with this info?
There's information about each DO school here: http://www.aacom.org/resources/bookstore/cib/Pages/default.aspx
(you can download the PDF for free)
It's organized by school, so you'll have to read each school's info to determine if they don't take OOS applicants. Some may not have the information though.
WVSOM takes tons of out of state students. Large class size, few applicants from WV, high tuition for OOS.
even oucom? damn, i submitted my primary there. hopefully its not a waste since im from njOUCOM, VCOM, William Carey, and PWNW clearly told me not to apply unless I had super stellar competitive stats as they have a big in state/regional preference...
it says it right on their website. I am very well aware of the contract. I do not believe that its forces you to work in rural/underserved areas but I believe it forces you to practice in ohio. also if you do your residency in ohio it goes towards your contract (from my search on SDN) so for instance, if you did a residency in primary care, every year of that residency contributes 1.5 years to your contract and every year of residency if you go into a specialization and do your residency in ohio it places one year towards your contract. If I am lucky enough to recieve a supplemental then I will list everything that the contract requires. if you decide to search further there is plenty of information on this website about it but yes, there is definitly a contract.OUCOM takes roughly 20% of out of state applicants BUT I heard you have to sign a 5 year contract to work in rural/under served area of Ohio upon completion of your degree/residency???
anyone want to confirm this?
une takes mostly from the northeast.called UNE and they take 70 percent in state.... what about nycom? it says on there website 80 percent in state?
not trying to add fuel to the fire but DMU doesnt have a regional preference. im pretty sure.thats NOT fair that these schools are private and biased...CCOM isn't gonna give me preference since I live in Chicago....NONE of the Midwest schools give state preference except MSU-COM and DMUCOM and even then I get no regional love🙁
story of my life. 😀 gonna persevere through!
just a fun fact. VCOM views NJ as bieng part of the appalacian region. I because part of its southern area technically is and probably because UMDNJ allows them to rotate through some of their hospitals as well.VCOM and Pikeville, iirc, are both heavily biased towards applicants from the Appalachian region.
TCOM has an extreme preference for Texas applicants.
UNECOM is weird - despite having lived in NH for 10 years before college, they were the only school I applied to that rejected me outright (after sending me a Christmas card - wtf?).
