Aacomas did send the app out already. I'm already getting secondaries.
 
Do you guys know if AACOMAS can be delayed occasionally putting received transcripts in online, or do they immediately mark them as received? My university sent them over a week ago and I still haven't seen an update to my application about receiving them so I'm starting to get worried.... Definitely making some phone calls this upcoming week

There is a little delay. My transcripts took 11 days from the date my university sent them until it was marked "logged." Wait might be longer now, since verification has started.
 
I'm not sure if this has already been answered but I'm shadowing a D.O. in July who will also be writing my LOR. He's going to be the first D.O. I'm going to shadow so I really want to include it in my app. Should I put this in my EC section and just say it's planned for July? I was planning on submitting my application this weekend but one of my transcripts still haven't arrived yet...

No, you cannot put planned activities into aacomas. You can wait until shadowing is done, then include it in your application before submitting. Or, you can submit your application and update it with your new DO experience once it is done.
 
Question about LOR's:

When we write the names of our References in our secondary applications, then submit the secondary. Then, we go on interfolio and send LOR's to the school? So, can we submit secondaries before LOR's are received from interfolio? Can someone explain how the process works?

Yes. You complete your secondary, send it, and then you can send your letters from interfolio right after. I am sure you can send them before your secondary but there is no benefit in doing so. I would send them at the same time I submit my secondary.

I can send out my primaries first, then when I get my secondaries I can submit my LOR. Right?

Yes, you don't need your LOR to submit your primaries. You only need to send them out once you receive and submit your secondaries from each school.

A few schools don't even want your letters until you get an interview invite. I know that's true for all of the LECOM campuses-- not sure about any others.
 
Nooooo I just realized why it's taking so long for my transcripts to arrive...... I sent them to Washington Ave instead of Connecticut Ave. Booo hooo hoooo
 
Is it normal around this time if it takes a week or longer for aacomas to log and receive transcripts?

I requested my school on june 9 to send the transcript. They Sent it on june 11. It is now June 23 and it still hasn't been received. I also sent it to Connecticut and not Washington avenue. My school says if they haven't received it by june 25 then they will resend it. This whole thing is delaying may application a ton 🙁🙁🙁. Anyone know what I should do now? Should I wait? Send another transcript and rush it? I also used my schools transcript request form does that make a difference? Should I just wait two days and see what happens. I was really trying to get everything out by june.

wait a few days and then ask your to resend. Rush it the second time. Also call aacomas in the next few days to verify that they haven't received it.

I did call them and they don't have it. This is honestly insane.

That honestly doesn't sound that long to me. Mine were just both received as of today and were sent in around the same time as yours. If they're still out by the end of the week I'd be concerned.

You can edit it yourself. The update would be sent to the schools you've applied to (I'm almost certain). It wouldn't hurt to call or email AACOMAS support though just to verify!

No you're supposed to send it to Connecticut Ave!! I sent mine to Washington instead of Connecticut, so you did the right thing. Sorry if I was unclear in my first post. I would see if your school offers a rush option and try to do that. Mine doesn't so I just had to reorder mine 🙁 In fact, actually getting a live human being on the phone is practically impossible.

Really? I am sorry for the wrong info then. I thought as long as you completed your course work section you could submit without transcripts and they just verify your app when they get the transcripts.

I'm in the same exact position. Everything on my app is ready to go! They have my main school transcript but I'm still waiting on another school's transcript...It only has one class on it.

This is delaying my app so much...I could've submitted 2 weeks ago 🙁

If somehow AACOMAS receives the transcript by this week would my app still be considered early if i submit then?

yes you're still in the early range. no need to stress out guys. while you're waiting on the primary to submit and get verified, start pre-writing those secondaries. will save you a crap ton of time when they start piling on!

Is looking at past secondaries a good way to pre write?

I can actually get a human on the phone at least after being on hold for a bit.

I wish I would have seen this sooner, I had the same problems.

If it makes you guys feel any better I sent my transcripts on 6/04 and 6/06. I just got all three received yesterday. They had been logged for almost 4 days.

No, you're right. You can submit prior to transcripts arriving, and they will verify with transcripts. Applications will then be released to schools after verification.

Do we send all letters at once to each school in interfolio or one by one?

Sorry, what I meant is that you cannot have verification begin, until you have submitted the app, paid and transcripts are received.
 
I know this has been asked before but I can't find it on my phone but if a LOR writer forgets to attach my AACOMAS Id, when we send them to schools can we state it

Also, if I submit, can I still make changes to my application? Does that also include the personal statement or no?

Yes, and Yes (except you cannot make changes to the coursework )
 
so a few questions:
1) i just started entering my coursework. Do the names of the classes have to match exactly how they look on the transcript? (ex. on my transcript general chemistry lab is written as genrl chemistry lab, would i put the former or latter?)
2) for AP classes, what do you put as the prefix? It won't let me add the course without one.
3) when designating whether you are a freshmen, sophomore, etc. do you actually have to go by the hours or can you just do it by the traditional four year system (like 1st year = freshman)? Stupid question I know, but I was just wondering because if its the former I need to go back and calculate my standing for each quarter haha.

Yes put it exactly how it is on your official transcript. Many times there is a difference between the official transcript and the unofficial transcript. Write it exactly how it is found on there, even if it seems like it doesnt make sense. Otherwise they may send your application back to you to fix it.

Not sure about the AP thing... sorry

You do not have to go by the exact hours, just go by what year you were in school, it is a rough gauge not a hard and fast rule. The idea is so that way they can submit trends in your grades and stuff to the schools.

I listed my AP classes as what they would count for.
For example, I listed my AP Bio credit as BIOL 1401, BIOL 1402...not sure if that's right but I don't know what else to do
 
Also, stupid question...but can we apply to both Lake Erie schools and all the Touro schools? Or do we have to pick one campus?

On the last page of the AACOMAS, there is a checkbox for each school. Yes, you can apply to multiple campuses of Touro. I would presume its the same for Lake Erie.

LECOM has 2 different admissions offices. Erie looks over the Erie and Seton Hill campus (one app for both) and the Bradenton campus has a separate application.
 
I have an additional question, I receive a grade for the work in my research lab every quarter. Would it be fair to put that underneath the Biology subject when entering coursework? (The work in my research lab deals with developmental neurobiology) It seems like it would fit under an elective category or something.

edit: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/research-grade-and-aacomas.948081/ just found a thread regarding this, if anyone is interested. So it does seem that it goes towards your sGPA and is not counted as a single class.
